Work Text:
Lando is woken up by incessant tapping on his face. Great, that's his Tuesday morning lie in plans spoiled. (Lying in until 8 doesn't really count but, whatever). The sun is just starting to rise, making Max and his room glow in a soft orange. He turns to his side when the tapping stops and brown eyes stare back at him.
“Dada! Dad, Get up!” Guess Lola is awake, then. Her hair is a mess, curly and tangled just like Lando’s and her stupidly expensive Tommy Hilfiger pyjamas are wrinkled. But she looks so much like Max in the morning light and she makes Lando so, so happy.
“I’m awake, Scout” he grabs her, swinging her onto the bed next to him and she lets out a squeal. Landos laughs too, making Lola press her small hands to his face with a whisper of ‘don't wake Daddy up’. He laughs again, much quieter.
“Why are you up so early, huh?”
“Sunrise,” She says simply, snuggling closer into Lando’s side, yawning.
“Of course” He chuckles.
“Wanna watch” Lola murmurs, trying to keep herself awake. Lando runs his hand through her hair, pressing a kiss to the soft curls.
“Here, we will go watch the sunrise and then you can go back to bed, okay Scout?”
“Okay Dada,” She starts to slide out of the bed, wriggling against Lando. He catches her with a laugh and they walk through the house, past scattered toys and shoes to sit in the backyard.
She sinks into his side and sighs like she's had a long day at work. Lando laughs at her, which she makes a very offended face at.
“I don't love you anymore, I only love Daddy and sunsets” Lando acts like he's been stabbed in the heart, rolling around on the ground fake crying.
“And Daniel! I love Daniel too!” She says over landos crying which makes them both collapse into fits of laughter. She climbs into Lando’s lap, sinking into him. Her eyes start to close and Lando hums songs she likes.
Lando falls asleep too, basking in the pinky-orange of the sun. When Max finds them laying on their outdoor couches he doesn't dare wake them, and smiles softly at his husband and their daughter.
