Magenta Mixed with Red

Summary:

"Silco, if you shoot her, then you will never see me again. Please don't do it." She begged and pleaded with the man she loved so much.

But no matter how much she loved him, Vi was still her sister. She couldn't lose her too.

An alternate/what-if take on Episode 9's ending. Silco escapes, Jinx is badly injured. The nuke never drops. Is redemption or even rehabilitation possible for the wanted and the damned?

Notes:

Don't know what this says about me but Jinx has always been a huge comfort character for me so seeing her backstory in Arcane (or at least a version of it) is super dope! I wanted to make something with her and Vi getting somewhat of a happier end than how bleak Arcane's ending felt. A bit of a "What could've been" type of thing.

Chapter 1: The Monster Inside

Chapter Text

Jinx stood above Caitlyn, her minigun in her hand as she heard Silco's voice. "Good, Jinx. Now finish it." He said in that ghastly tone he was known for. Just hearing it pissed her off, even if she loved him with every fiber of her being. She turned and pointed the gun at Silco.

"Shut your damn mouth! You were gonna give me away so the higher-ups in Plitover could keep me in a padded room forever! You think I'm crazy, just like these two do!" She shouted, aiming with the intent to pull the trigger hard if Silco said even one thing out of line. She had killed before, countless times. She could do it again. She could do it. She WILL do it.

...

There was silence for awhile, with Silco and Jinx eyeing each other up. "My poor Jinx." Silco sighed sadly. "Just put the gun down and come back to me. No one else needs to get hurt." He said in a softer voice, one he only used for Jinx. "Just put the gun down and untie me." Jinx's hand started trembling just a bit. She couldn't do it. She wouldn't. The only man who loved her for her couldn't die like this. She needed him. Always.

"Powder! Please, listen to me! He's using you!" Vi screamed out for her sister, struggling against the binds around her arms and body. "Please, just come back to me, Powder...! We can run away together!"

Jinx looked back to Vi, tears forming in her eyes. "...You're lying. After all I've done... What I am..." She chuckled, but it wasn't her usual manic laugh. It was sad. Hurt, even. "Where would we go?" She asked, neither sister noticing the crime lord slowly cutting away at his bands with a piece of glass he was able to snag after Jinx had done her shooting spree to the dummies near them. He always knew Jinx would be his undoing, but he naturally had some ideas on the ready to make sure he stayed mostly alive.

"Anywhere... Anywhere but this shit place. We'll be together again." Vi said as Jinx looked to her, then to Caitlyn.

"...She won't like me. She'll just think I'm crazy... Like how you think I'm crazy... You abandoned me because you think I'm crazy!" The blue haired woman exclaimed as she threw the gun down. She was tired. So very tired of all of this. Of the running. Of Mylo and Glaggor's constant harassment in her own head. Of the abandonment. She just wanted it all to go away and for someone to really, truly love her.

"I don't think you're crazy! I've never thought that and I've never abandoned you!" Vi pleaded with her sister, tears forming in her eyes as well. "Please... Please, Powder! I'm sorry! I'm so fucking sorry and I love you, really!"

"LIAR!!!" Jinx yelled out, practically sobbing and hitting herself as a whirlwind of noises and voices came crashing down all at once. "You wanted to get rid of me all along! You don't care about me at all!" She yelled until the click of a hammer-pull was heard.

Immediately, everything stopped at Silco stood up, holding one of Jinx's guns. "Jinx... My love. Come here, please." He said seriously to Jinx as he pointed the gun at Vi. "This will all be over soon, then we can go home."

Everything stood silent for a while. The tears between Jinx and Vi never stopped but now everyone was way more on edge. "...Why would I go with a liar like you...? You've just been using me." Jinx said seriously, slowly reaching down to reach for her gun before Silco shot in her general direction, just barely missing her.

"No." The man said authoritatively, shutting down any notion of that. "You know I would never do that to you. Jayce and the other topsiders wanted you, but I would never, ever give you up just for whatever idiotic thing that Council comes up with." Silco said genuinely, even pointing the gun down and looking into Jinx's eyes. "I truly do love you Jinx. Now come with me."

Those words rang out in Jinx's mind. She took a step forward before looking back at Vi. "What about these two...?" She asked sincerely, making Silco shrug.

"They'll be dealt with. As soon as we leave together, they'll be gone. You'll never have to worry about them again."

There was more silence for a moment as Jinx stepped back from Silco and towards Vi. "Dealt with how...?" She asked sheepishly, as if Powder was doing the talking more so than Jinx.

"...You don't have to be here to see it. It'll be quick. Then we'll go home. Like none of this ever happened." Silco said, the gun still being pointed at Vi.

Vi looked at Silco in horror, knowing there was no way out of this if Jinx really did go back to him. And she had every right to. If this bastard of a man could make her feel loved and wanted, what the hell could she do? The pink-haired woman looked to Caitlyn, who was only now just waking up from the hit Jinx landed on her earlier. She took a deep breath before staring back at Silco. "...Look. I don't care what happens to me. Just let Caitlyn go and please... Please, for the love of everything good in this fucked up world, don't hurt Powder. I'm begging you." She said to Silco, pleading with heavy, teary eyes.

Silco's face was expressionless but nodded simply. His finger was close to squeezing the trigger until Jinx moved herself in front of her sister. "Silco, if you shoot her, then you will never see me again. Please don't do it." She begged and pleaded with the man she loved so much.

Vi was stunned, looking up at her sister. While his face still didn't show much emotion, it was clear Silco was surprised to, at least a bit. It made him realize something. No matter how much Jinx loved him, Vi was still her sister. She couldn't lose her too. "Just let them go. And I'll go with you. I promise." The blue haired woman said, her magenta eyes practically piercing into Silco's soul.

More silence followed as Caitlyn reached for Jinx's gun, knowing the other three were preoccupied. Silco could only sigh as he looked between Jinx and Vi. He chuckled sadly, shaking his head. "I'm sorry. But I can't let anyone take you from me." He said, firing two bullets as Caitlyn grabbed Jinx's gun, firing a flurry of bullets back at the man.

Jinx thought very fast, pushing Vi down to the floor so he bullets wouldn't hit her even if they passed through her. The firefight only lasted about seven seconds. In that time, Silco was shot in his good eye and somewhere in his torso. He screamed in pain but it sure as hell wasn't enough to kill him, as he was able to run off and practically disappeared not soon after he fired his two shots. Before anyone had a chance to figure out maybe where he had gone, Vi and Caitlyn were distracted by Jinx's body falling to the ground limp.

"POWDER!!!" Vi screamed out as Caitlyn ran to her and her sister. She quickly cut Vi out of her restraints with a piece of glass and as soon as she was free, went to see if Jinx would be okay. They turned her over and saw the bullet wounds: one in the abdomen and one incredibly close to her heart. It wasn't looking too good for Jinx. "Breathe, Sis... J-Just breathe..." Vi said, holding down the wound on her chest to stop the blood from coming out. She looked to Caitlyn for any type of supporter. "Isn't there anything we can-"

"No..." A weak voice came from Jinx, who's breathing was calm and shallow, instead of erratic breathing from the Shimmer in her body. "I-It's okay... I deserve this." She said with a sad smile on her face. "Now... Mylo, Vander, and Glaggor won't be so mad at me anymore..." She said, coughing up red blood mixed with purple. It would be almost beautiful if it didn't come at the hands of someone's death.

"D-Don't say that! They loved you! They did... We did..." Vi responded, tears streaming down her face as her hands were stained with red. "Please... Please don't go... I'm sorry... I'm so fucking sorry, please just stay with me...!" She was pleading with Jinx to hold on for just a little longer. Caitlyn could only watch sadly as Vi scrambled to figure out something to do.

"Violet." Jinx said, gripping her sister's hand with the rest of the strength she had left. Vi looked down to see her baby sister smiling. "It's okay. I had it coming. We can't deny that." She said with a shrug before looking up to the sky. "Do you think... someone will be happy to see me...?" She asked, clearly losing consciousness. There was silence for a good bit before Vi nodded, trying to hold back the rest of her tears.

"Absolutely. I'm sure the old crew will be more than happy to see who you grew up to be." Vi said, clutching her sister's hand. Jinx could only smirk and shake her head.

"...Liar." The blue haired woman breathed out as her body slowly relaxed and she lost consciousness. It wouldn't be long after that she would die. She could just barely hear Violet's cries of anguish and grief. She could only think about how sorry she was for the person she'd become and the hurt she's caused. She was sorry for being a Jinx. But suddenly, the voices stopped. All of them. Mylo, Claggor, Vander, even Powder: gone. Just her, alone with the feeling of nearly overwhelming euphoria.

"I'm okay with this. It's okay. I won't be able to hurt anyone anymore. I won't be able to hurt anymore. I just won't be." Many things swirled around Jinx's head as she succumbed to her wounds. It was for the best, so there in her own psyche, she waited.

And waited.

And waited.

And then, suddenly, she woke up. A room filled with white. Her hair was longer, the long braids she once wore proudly now out and displaying her glorious mane that had been surprisingly well managed despite her being dead. There was some type of easy listening music in the background. She felt awful physically, like a hot iron went through her skin a couple times. Still, the excess pain could only mean one thing...

"I'm alive..."
