Chapter Text

It had been a long day. Shota loves working as a teacher at UA, but he was exhausted. He always found himself taking on way more than one man should. Luckily for him though, he wasn’t alone.

He met his husband when he was a teenager in high school. Hizashi was a loud, energetic Alpha. The complete opposite of Shota but the dark-haired Omega couldn’t imagine his life with anyone else. The blonde understood him in a way that he never thought another person could.

They built a life together over the last decade. One that Shota was proud of. One that brought joy amongst the chaos that was his life.

Growing up, Shota wasn’t confident that he would find his happiness. His person. His parents weren’t natural caregivers. They weren’t abusive but they also weren’t supportive. They were just sort of there. It damaged his idea of what a healthy relationship was supposed to look like.

When Hizashi came into his life, his entire view of the world changed. He learned so much about himself and he was still learning. He hopes he continues to learn as time goes on. It had been one of the best parts of finding Hizashi.

Another positive was that no matter how hard things became, he had a partner to help him through it. He wouldn’t be alone anymore.

Pushing open the door to their small home, he heard one of his favorite sounds. His son laughing as his husband danced in the kitchen. They always made dinner together. Hizashi was typically animated while spending time with their child, something the young Omega enjoyed thoroughly.

Hitoshi was ten years old. He had wild lavender hair and eye bags that rivaled Shota’s. Their son had struggled with insomnia for as long as he can remember. They were told it was a side effect of his quirk which the heroes could relate to. They too experienced drawbacks due to their quirks but most people did so they were accustomed to dealing with it.

Hizashi had found Hitoshi on patrol when he was five years old. His husband was on his normal route when the tiny Omega came running towards him. The blonde hero didn't hesitate to pick him up and cradle him to his chest. Hitoshi’s parents were abusive and their son had wondered outside because he was hungry. His biological parents were passed out in the living room when the police showed up to question them.

It was a cold night and Hizashi was ready to commit murder but he focused his attention on the scared little boy that found him. Hizashi would later joke that tired, grumpy Omega’s always had a way of running into him.

Shota didn’t think his husband was funny.

Shota had literally knocked the tall blonde over during their first year at U.A. because he was too focused on making it to his first class on time. Hizashi never left him alone after that day. Shota wouldn’t admit it but he was happy he was in a rush that day. Happy he was reckless and very happy he shattered Hizashi’s ugly green glasses. They were huge and rectangular. He’s not sure what the Alpha was thinking.

His husband’s signature yellow glasses would’ve never happened if Shota didn’t destroy those monstrosities.

His son latched onto his husband easily and there was no conversation when it came to adopting Hitoshi. It had been fate. They both refused to question it and quickly they became a family of three.

Adopting their son had been fairly easy. His parents were arrested on charges of child abuse and the boy had no additional family to take him in so the only thing they needed to worry about was making sure he had everything he needed.

Hitoshi fit in with them like he was always meant to be their son. He had trauma of course and it took a lot of patience and therapy sessions to help unlearn a lot of his behaviors but they did it together. As a team.

Almost five years later, Shota couldn’t help the smile that erupted onto his face when he heard Hitoshi singing along with his Papa.

Before he could say hello, Hizashi noticed him standing in the living room and motioned him over dramatically.

He rolled his eyes at his husband’s antics but joined them anyway. He would never turn them down.

“I see you’re still corrupting our son.” Hizashi always played obnoxious American popular music while he was teaching Hitoshi to cook which only led to the boy singing those same tunes at random points in the day. Shota both loved and hated that.

“And I’m not sorry either Sho.” Hizashi sent his husband a dazzling wink and then went back to stirring the rice while Hitoshi made his way over to hug his Dad.

“Can we go to the nesting shop this weekend Dad?” Shota let his son nuzzle into his chest, noticing that the boy seemed a bit stressed. He only scented the boy lightly because Hitoshi’s therapist had told them to allow the boy to self soothe as much as possible.

Shota wasn’t a fan of this but the older Omega trusted her as a professional. She had been Hitoshi’s therapist since he had come into their care.

“What’s wrong pup?” Shota gently pulled back so he could look into his son’s eyes. The ten-year-old was avoiding eye contact, something he only did when he was feeling unsafe or afraid.

This was starting to concern Shota.

“You are safe here with us Toshi. Whatever it is, we will work through it together.” He wiped the tears that had began to fall. Hitoshi was always good at hiding things, especially when Hizashi was such a bright force. Sometimes it was easy to forget you were sad or hurting in the man’s presence, which could be both good and bad.

Hitoshi whined high in his throat, a sound that let Shota know his son was frustrated but also close to breaking down. Close to spilling his guts. So the older Omega continued to soothe his son. He cooed softly in the boy’s ear and told him he was safe. He repeated those actions until he felt his son relax in his arms.

“Someone is in trouble Dad.” Shota watched his husband freeze. The Alpha stopped cooking and turned the stove off so he could join the conversation. He had been on alert the entire time but wanted to give them space until he was needed.

“Why don’t we go into the living room so we can talk about this in a more comfortable space kiddo?” Shota loved his husband. Hitoshi’s words had caught him off guard but Hizashi always knew what to say when he couldn’t find his words.

They moved over to the couch, allowing Hitoshi to settle into the spot between them.

“Who is in trouble son?” Hizashi had his hand placed firmly on Hitoshi’s shoulder, an action that would help their son stay calm as he spoke. Shota kept his scent as relaxed as possible, another layer of safety for their child.

“A boy. He’s little. He’s like me Papa.” Shota heard the sharp inhale his husband took. Hitoshi was referencing the day Hizashi had found him all those years ago.

Their son’s scent was sour. He was very distraught and Shota couldn’t blame him. If there was another pup in a situation similar to the one Hitoshi was in prior to them adopting him, the older Omega can’t imagine how that must make the boy feel.

Shota pushed himself closer to Hitoshi, a gesture of support and waited for the little Omega to continue.

He could tell Hizashi was ready to take action if necessary, his scent was strong. An undercurrent of anger and protectiveness seeped through.

“I know he’s scared Dad. I can just tell.” Shota was curious as to who this child was. Is it someone in Hitoshi’s class at school? A child he has met at the park? It’s clearly someone he has encountered more than once because Hitoshi seemed very attached to this person.

Hitoshi felt deeply so it is possible that his son had only briefly ran into this child once but it felt bigger than that.

“Can you tell us a little more about how you know this other pup Toshi?” He shared a look with Hizashi, one that was silently asking if they were in a place to adopt another child because he wasn’t sure he would be able to just report this issue and leave it. Hizashi just smiled because of course he had been thinking the same thing.

“I don’t know him Dad. I have just seen him. I think he lives close to my school or something. I see him when I’m outside playing. His clothes are always dirty and his Mama yells really loud. She pulls on his arm really hard too and I don’t know where his Papa is. I’ve never seen him.” So this wasn’t someone that goes to school with him. That would make it harder to find him but not impossible.

The sad part about this story was that this child hadn’t been noticed by any adults or if he had been, they hadn’t been able to successfully help him. Abused pups, especially Omega pups were ignored often times. It made Shota furious but that wouldn’t be helpful right now so he tampered his anger so he could get all the facts.

“And he’s younger than me too! He’s only a baby. Well not a baby because he can walk and I’ve heard him talk but he’s really small. I’ve seen him a lot this year Daddy and I wanted to help but I can’t.” His son was making him so proud. His heart was always so big which is why this was impacting him in such a big way.

Hizashi’s scent began to overpower Shota’s, a fierce woody smell invading every inch of the room.

“Don’t worry little listener. We will figure out who this pup is and make sure he is okay. You did a good job today Toshi.” Hizashi pulled their son into his lap and stared directly into his mates eyes. The Alpha didn’t need to say a word. Shota knew that the man wouldn’t wait until tomorrow before taking the first step to find this kid.

Hizashi wouldn’t let an innocent pup suffer.

Shota wouldn’t either.

His husband transferred Hitoshi to his lap, standing up and walking back into the kitchen to finish dinner. Shota allowed him to do so, knowing the Alpha needed space to process the situation.

Shota continued to soothe the smaller Omega, now understanding that his son had asked to go to the nesting store because he was trying to ease his pain. He was trying to self soothe.

It didn’t take long for the food to be plated. Dinner was a quiet affair, not a surprise considering their earlier conversation.

They spent the rest of the evening watching movies, Hitoshi falling asleep sandwiched against both his parents.

“I’m supposed to patrol tonight anyway Sho.” Shota nodded his head, acknowledging what the blonde had planned.

“I’ll patrol the area. Talk to the locals, police, and anyone else I come across. Somebody has to know something Sho.” Hizashi was right but that wasn’t always enough. They didn’t run into any roadblocks with Hitoshi but every situation is different.

This may also be a case of circumstance. Whatever it is, he is hopeful that they can offer some sort of assistance. Knowing there is a pup in need out there, so close to them, is enough to light a fire in both of their souls. They could never just sit there and do nothing.

“I’ve been thinking about the night Toshi found me. He was so terrified. So small. The look in his eyes today was the same look he had five years ago. I can feel the desperation. The pain. I have to find this boy Shota. I won’t stop until I do.” The older Omega felt the same way. They would do everything they could to make sure this pup was safe.

“They always find me Sho. You. Hitoshi.” Hizashi shook his head fondly and laughed.

“It looks like there’s another Omega that needs me.” Hizashi paused briefly, taking Shota’s hand while looking down at their son sleeping peacefully. He squeezed his Omega’s hand firmly.

I better start looking.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Katsuki was currently laying in the corner of his bedroom, a few of his older pieces of clothing gathered up in a small circle. It was a poor attempt at a nest but he needed some form of comfort at the moment so the little pup made do.
His parents were downstairs eating dinner without him like usual. He had been able to sneak some crackers earlier in the day but couldn’t take anything else so he was hoping they would fall asleep soon so he could try again.
The small Omega was six years old. He was tiny for his age but the boy never ate more than one meal a day.
He should be in school, playing with his friends at a park, and falling off his bike because he was peddling too fast but he didn’t get to do those things. His parents didn’t allow it. They didn’t really let him do anything a normal child got to do.
Katsuki wasn’t sure why but his parents hated him. They were always mean to him even when he tried his best to be good.
He remembered this older boy he had seen on multiple occasions when they were walking back from whatever job his parents had finished. The boy had pretty purple hair and always smiled at the younger Omega. Katsuki always looked forward to walking past the other kid’s school because it’s the only time someone was nice to him. He wished he could actually talk to the other boy but he knows he can’t.
It had been a few days since the last time he saw the other kid. He missed him. He knew it was stupid but he did. He was so lonely.
His parents were always doing bad things. They hurt people all the time and they even made Katsuki use his quirk to hurt people. The little Omega hated it so sometimes he refused but that just makes them angry.
The thought makes him whimper. He just wants someone to cuddle with him in his nest.
When he hears loud noises from downstairs he shoots up from the corner of his room. His Mama had always taught him to run away if the cops came so he moved closer to the door so he could listen.
Katsuki heard more than two voices downstairs but he wasn’t sure who it was. There were always strange people in his house with his parents so he didn’t know what to do. His Papa would punish him if he left the house without a good reason. It’s happened before when random people showed up to their house late at night. Katsuki thought it was the cops so he ran out the back door but when his Papa found him he was furious. He would never leave the house again unless he was sure.
The voices kept getting louder and a few minutes later Katsuki heard footsteps. Whoever it was, they were coming towards his room so he ran back to his nest. He didn’t have time to run anymore so he just curled into the smallest ball he could manage, trying to make himself less noticeable.
His bedroom door was pushed open and when he looked up to see who it was, his eyes widened.
There was no way this was real!
Why was Present Mic in his house?
The Voice Hero was standing in his bedroom. Right in front of him.
What had his parents done? Would he be in trouble too? He tried so hard to be good, but his parents were stronger than he was!
Little whines were falling from his lips when the hero came closer to him.
Katsuki wasn’t afraid of him, the scent the man was releasing smelled so good to the younger pup. It was like he was outside on a rainy day sort of.
He watched the Alpha’s movements, waiting to see what the hero would do.
The hero stopped about a foot in front of the child and bent down so that he wasn’t so intimidating. Katsuki looked up at him, big eyes staring at him in wonder.
“Hey there little listener. I think you’ve been looking for me.” The hero had a big smile on his face and Katsuki liked how bright his hair was. It reminded him of the sun.
Looking for him? Katsuki was confused.
“My name is Hizashi.” Katsuki knew all about Present Mic. He had a radio show and he used his voice to fight villains, but he doesn’t know why he thinks Katsuki was looking for him.
“You see kiddo, my son told me about you. He has really cool purple hair. It sort of sticks up in every direction.” Present Mic is his Dad? The boy who always smiled at him is related to Present Mic. That’s so cool.
“He always smiles at me!” He didn’t mean to yell, but he was just so excited.
“I wanted to talk to him but I’m not allowed. I don’t have any friends.” Katsuki doesn’t usually talk this much, but this is a hero. He couldn’t help himself.
“Well Hitoshi was very worried about you little listener. He asked us to help you.” Us? Maybe his Mama is a hero too.
“His Mama is a hero too?” Hizashi smiled at the pup and sat down a bit closer to him.
“Well kiddo my husband is a hero too. His hero name is Eraserhead.” Hizashi hadn't realized that saying that would get such a huge reaction out of the small Omega.
“Eraserhead! You married Eraserhead!?” Hizashi was trying his best not to laugh at the small pup’s excitement. How did such a young kid know his husband?
“Can I meet him? He’s the best hero ever!” Shota was going to be so embarrassed and shocked that this kid even knew who he was. Most teenagers don’t even know who he is. Hell adults were clueless most of the time. So the fact that someone this young did? That was a major red flag.
“Sure thing sweetheart. First we need to take you to see a doctor. We need to make sure you aren’t hurt anywhere?” What about his parents? Where are they going?
“What about my Mama and Papa?” Hizashi always hated this part. Explaining this to any child is difficult but how would he tell this pup about his parents?
“Well little man, the cops are going to talk to them about some things. Things that little pups like you don’t need to hear about and you are going to come with me for awhile until they figure everything out. How does that sound?” Hizashi kept his voice calm and even so the pup didn’t sense any stress in it.
Wait? So he didn’t have to stay here anymore? He would get to meet his favorite hero and the kid with the pretty hair?
“I get to go with you?” Katsuki wasn’t sure he understood this correctly.
“You sure do! And we can meet Eraserhead after we see the doctor! How about you tell me your name buddy?” Seems like this might not be as bad as Hizashi initially thought but this also means that it might get ugly later. It appears that this kid doesn’t really comprehend what’s going on so explaining everything will be a process. That isn’t the focus tonight though. That’s a problem for later.
“Katsuki! My name is Katsuki and I’m six! I’m an Omega too.” The last part wasn’t said with as much enthusiasm which Hizashi would explore later on when they had time to. Omega discrimination was a big issue, his husband had dealt with it quite a bit as a hero.
“Can I call you Kat? I like nicknames kiddo.” The sharp tooth smile he got in response melted his heart.
“Yes! Can I call you Sunshine? You’re like the sun!” Okay. Hizashi wouldn’t survive the cuteness that was happening right now.
“I would love that. Why don’t we get going? It’s already late.” With that, Hizashi stood from the ground and held out his hand. The small pup was hesitant at first but that didn’t last long. He held out his arms, silently asking to be picked up which the Alpha was happy to swoop the boy up.
As soon as the young Omega was in his arms, Hizashi felt Katsuki nuzzle his face into his neck and that sealed the deal. There was no way he was letting this precious boy go. His husband didn’t stand a chance. Shota was going to fall in love with another loud blonde.
Serves him right.
