Chapter Text
Pain enveloped all over his body, controlling his mind. He gasped as his voice stuck on the throat like there was something stabbed on. He groaned lowly like a nearly dead animal. His fingers were scratching weakly on the ground making his nails dirty. His body was incapacitated, he couldn’t even move an inch but there was the sensation of something warm leaking around his side body. His body experienced convulsion as that thing kept leaking out. His body mixed with sticky liquid and the stench of blood. It was physically drained, slowly giving up to move. Everything seemed to be unsure, intolerant and submitted. His head was dizzy and heavy. His sight was blurry between gray and black. His breath was choking. He couldn’t breathe. It was painful. It was unbearable. It was hopeless. Helpless. There was only an image of infinite darkness inside his head. Spinning around, heavily rotating, a sudden realization of the situation. The world disappeared after the closed lids.
So this is the feeling of dying. He said to himself inside his mind, scared but helpless. He was alone there within the spaceless dark, restrained, paralyzed. He was about to drown in the groundless abyss. He never knew that death is this scary. It was so pitch black, so cold, so lonely. All the memories were running back and forth like a sheet of lifetime film. I am supposed to be eating ramyun with Hyungwon right now. Why am I here? Where is Jooheon? Where is everybody? Everybody was gone to the bright side of the unknown. Making him more scared of dying. He just realized that there were so many things he wanted to do so death is supposed to be never an option. He hasn’t even tried to play the newly released game yet. He should be going to the movies next week with his classmate. They invited him to come to the new cafe in the next building. Tea is not his favorite but coffee can make it better. Oh my God, he wants to eat that grilled meat so much.
He shook his head weakly with so much stress, denying reality, trying to force his senses but nothing happened. Physically gave up but was mentally denied.
I’m going to die but I don’t want to.
In the middle of war inside his head, he could feel someone’s warm fingers holding his cold hand. His body suddenly felt warm, someone hugging him tightly, sharing warmness. Hyunwoo could slightly hear a voice. It gave him reassurance. It filled the lost hope. He wasn’t dying alone. Because of that he could hear better but was still too dark and cloudy. His closed eyes were hard to open. But his ear found his direction in life. He chased the voice. The girl’s soft and caring voice woke up his consciousness. Abruptly snapping his mind, calling him from falling deeper into the darkness. The girl was crying and screaming for his dear life.
“Please, please, hang on! I beg you! Please!”
That’s when his head was ringing as a loud siren chirped between his thoughts. He could feel that he was flying as something lifted his body and moved it to somewhere soft and firm. He was helplessly following the unexpected flow. There was a sudden light as someone forced open his eyelids to check on him. Something was attached to his mouth. Someone pressed hard on his stomach. Some people made a fuss, screaming ‘faster’ and pushing harder as Hyunwoo felt his body shaking in the middle of the air. The noise turned to silence. He tried so hard to open his eyes, just a little bit. He just needed to do it before he couldn’t do it anymore. The grim reaper should be there but he found no one but a girl. Her figure was indistinctly visible but real, somehow like a crying, beautiful angel. She became far, far, and far away. Her image was swaying between night and light. His hand tried to reach her silhouette but it was incapable of moving and then laid helplessly. His consciousness went to another side of the nightmare.
Whatever happens, he decides if he is still alive then he promises to make her the happiest person in the world.
He will protect her no matter what. Because she is the savior of his life.
