Yulje Medical Center is always busy since it’s located in Seoul and one of the best hospital because of the equipments and the doctors that work there. Today is like any other day, the waiting line of every department is always packed up, including pediatrics.
A woman with dark blue dress with hair in a ponytail enters the Yulje building and goes straight to pediatrics department while carrying a 6 months old baby girl in her embrace. On her way to pediatrics department, she sees a face that is familiar to her, she suddenly smiles.
“Annyeonghaseyo gyosunim”
“Annyeong gyeoura! Waaa I thought today is your day off, no?”
“Yes it is gyosunim, I’m here for Haneul’s monthly checkup”
“Ah geurae!! Annyeong haneul-ah!!” Said Lee Ikjun while caressing Haneul’s arm
“Haneul is looking cuter and more beautiful day by day, it’s a relief that she took more of you than that saekk— ups! Sorry haneul-ah for bad language” said Lee ikjun with puppy eyes to Haneul who sees him with her big eyes and smile showing her gum with no teeth.
Seeing the scene in front of her, she can’t hold her smile, then she checks the watch on her wrist and suddenly remembers that she has to go to pediatrics department.
“Gyosunim I’m sorry I think I have to go to pediatrics department right now”
“Ah right! Sorry for interrupting you, do you need me to accompany you to pediatrics department?”
“Gwaenchanayo gyosunim, thank you for offering”
“It’s okay gyeoura, see you after Haneul’s checkup right, maybe we can get lunch together with others?”
“Ne gyosunim, see you at lunch”
“See you Gyeoul and Haneul-ah!!”
Gyeoul and Haneul finally arrive at pediatrics department, there’s already people with their babies waiting for their names to be called. Gyeoul then approaches the nurse that right in front of the door of consultation room and gives the nurse Haneul’s consultation form.
“Annyeonghaseyo gyosunim, you come here for Haneul’s monthly checkup?”
“Ah yes, today is the day for her monthly checkup”
“Today is a little packed gyosunim, do you want to wait here or in your room? I’ll call if it’s already Haneul’s turn”
“I’ll wait here with others, thank you” said Gyeoul while smiling to the nurse.
After giving a little bow to the nurse, Gyeoul is looking for an empty chair in the waiting room that is packed with people, luckily she found an empty one near the nurse station in front of the consultation room. She then sits beside two women, one is probably in her age, and the other is probably older than her with a boy she assumes is 4 years old. Then suddenly she hears their conversation, not that she wants to eavesdrop on their conversation, but the seating is not far from one seat to the others, so she can hear them.
“Do you think Prof. Ahn Jeongwon is already married?” Said the younger woman that she assumes in her age.
“I think no? I have heard from nurse that he thinks of becoming a priest?”
“What? It’s too bad, you say that he’s so good with patient”
“Hey I heard that news in some years ago, I think he already change his mind since he still works here”
“Ah it’s a relief, I'm still curious about his marriage status, I’ll check his ring finger to see if there is a ring or not. Prof. Ahn Jeongwon is really my type eonni” said the woman enthusiastically.
“Ah jinjja this girl, that’s why you always ask me to bring you here whenever my son has appointments with Prof. Ahn Jeongwon. Remember you go here to accompany me because your nephew is sick. Don’t embarrass me okay, I respect Prof. Ahn Jeongwon so much”
“Hey I never did that eonni”
Upon hearing the conversation Gyeoul can’t help the jealousy that starts to creep in. Jeongwon in his 45's still looks dashing not to mention his pure heart and dedication towards his work, he’s really living as the Buddha of Yulje, no wonder hearing conversation like that is not the first time for Gyeoul. But even after years of being together with Jeongwon, sometimes Gyeoul still feels uneasy when some women express their attraction toward her husband.
When she is still lost in her thoughts, she feels like someone is watching her, turns out the little boy that sits beside her is looking at Haneul with curiosity in his eyes. Haneul is smiling widely, she thinks the little boy is her new friend who will play with her.
“Annyeong little boy, what’s your name?” Said Gyeoul to the boy.
“I am Gunwoo, this is my mom, and that’s my aunty. I'm here to see doctor, because I don’t feel well. Yeppo. She’s so beautiful”
“Gomawoyo Gunwoo, her name is Haneul”
“Annyeong Haneul-ah” said Gunwoo while caressing Haneul’s fingers. Hearing her name is being called, Haneul is laughing heartily. The sound of her laughing is so clear and can melt any hearts instantly.
“Aigooo your daughter is so cute. Oh! She got your eyes, nose and dimples!” said Gunwoo’s mom
“Ah ne, but apart of that she’s like a copy carbon of her dad”
“No wonder she’s so beautiful, you are indeed very beautiful too. And I think her dad too?”
“Ah ne..” said Gyeoul shyly
“Sorry for being nosy, but perhaps are you model or entertainer?”
“Ah no, I’m….”
“Ahn Haneul..” said the nurse breaking the conversation between them two.
“Gyosunim, it is Haneul’s turn. Prof. Ahn Jeongwon is already waiting for both of you”
“Ah thank you, seonsaengnim” Gyeoul then bow a little to Gunwoo’s mom to bid her goodbye.
“Is she a professor?” said Gunwoo’s mom to the nurse
“Ah yes, she’s a professor in HPB department in here”
Both Gunwoo’s mom and his aunt are in awe after hearing what the nurse had said.
“Woaaah with her looks and her profession, now I wonder who is her husband. She must be has a great one since she’s so perfect!!”
*In the consultation room*
“Annyeong Haneul-ah, annyeong Love”
“Annyeong appa~” said Gyeoul with baby voice
Hearing his dad's voice, Haneul suddenly makes a gesture to be picked up by her dad. Jeongwon is so willing to do anything for her daughter, seeing a gesture he picks her up from Gyeoul.
“How are you today Ahn Haneul? Are you hungry? Is Haneul sleepy? Appa mian not on your side when you woke up this morning”
Gyeoul is 100% sure that her daughter’s favorite person is her appa, seeing Haneul automatically laughing upon hearing her dad’s voice and the way both of them look lovingly at each other. They’re whipped. Totally. And Gyeoul is always feeling grateful because she can see this moment everyday.
“Now appa will weigh and measure Haneul okay~” and Jeongwon does the rest of Haneul’s monthly checkups.
“What’s wrong Love?”
“What?”
“I’m asking you, your face is a bit down when you enter this room, no, don’t give me that look, I knew you too well Love”
“Ah it’s nothing oppa, it's just when I wait for Haneul to be called I heard someone wondering if you are married or not and she said that you are his type” said Gyeoul while looking at the floor with her lips slightly pouting.
Jeongwon can’t hold back his chuckle, it’s not everyday he can see his strong independent wife to be this cute pouty wife because of jealousy.
“Ah oppaaa stop laughing”
“Mian Gyeoul-ah, but you’re too cute. It’s okay to feel jealous Gyeoul-ah, but you know that I’m all yours”
“Ah jinjja oppa, you and your cheeky line. Oppa I think I’ll go now. Lunch together in cafeteria?”
“Okay love, wait for me”
Jeongwon is escorting his wife and daughter to the door, after Gyeoul closed his consultation door, suddenly Jeongwon opens the door. His eyes meet her wife's confused looks.
In a waiting room full of people, Jeongwon said to his wife “Love, you and uri Haneul can wait in my office, I’ll come to you right after my consultation ends. We can have lunch together with others if you want. I’ll go wherever you go love”
And that makes everyone in Yulje, including patients and guardians know, that Ahn Jeongwon the Buddha of Yulje is a married man who is crazily in love with his wife.
