The firelight flickered in the darkness, as Estinien sat on the ground glaring at it. Alphinaud and Ysayle had already fallen asleep, while Shadowfeare had gone off to get more firewood.
It had been awhile since the Seeker had left the camp, and it was making Estinien anxious.
The Miqo’te was a strange one. Estinien had crossed paths with the crystal eyed younger man a few times before, during the Seeker’s dragoon training, and had found him to be too kind and naive.
Like the time when they clashed, Shadowfeare had begged Estinien to stop going after the Eye.
The Seeker didn’t even know him, let alone what he needed the Eye for.
Estinien internally blamed his adoptive father, Alberic, for it. The old man must’ve opened his damn mouth.
Estinien honestly didn’t think he’d ever see the other dragoon again. But there he was in Ishgard, with an Elezen boy and a Lalafell woman.
It had been at least several months or so since they first met, but the Elezen noticed that Shadowfeare hadn’t even changed; his temperament was still that kind and caring soul that he had experienced before, though grief and uncertainty seemed to plague him.
The two had teamed up to find Lady Iceheart and the heretics. And now, they on their way to see Hraesvelgr to try and negotiate. However they still had a way to go before they reached their destination.
But the more they traveled together, the more Estinien felt himself being drawn towards the smaller warrior.
Footsteps startled the Azure Dragoon out of his thoughts, and he immediately reached for his lance. “It’s okay, its only me.” That soft voice of the Miqo’te gave him pause. Estinien put his weapon back down, “you sure took your damn time..” he growled. Shadowfeare set down the wood he had gathered and looked over at Estinien curiously. “Did I worry you?” He asked, blonde ears flicking a little. The dragoon scoffed and looked away. “Of course not!” He huffed, though deep down, he knew that he had felt worried when the Miqo’te hadn’t arrived sooner. With an annoyed sigh, Estinien turned away and closed his eyes. He didn’t need to see whatever look the Seeker had on his face.
Shadowfeare glanced over at the dragoon and shrugged a little, turning back to put some wood into the fire, gently urging the flames, shivering a little as a cold wind began to blow. The Seeker wasn’t fond of the cold at all, having been used to the warm weather for most of his life.
Suddenly something dropped on his head, making him jump in alarm. “Wha-!?” His cry was muffled by the sudden feeling of a cold armor clad hand clamping over his mouth. “Shhh… You’ll wake them. It was only a blanket.” Estinien hissed, his lips hovering over one of Shadowfeare’s sensitive ears. The soft and fuzzy ear twitched at the sound, causing the tip to tap against the Elezen’s lips.
Estinien froze. Something so simple and mundane…was enough to make him forget to breathe.
He really was out of his mind…
Suddenly, the Elezen found himself urging the Seeker to look up at him, and leaned down to press their lips together. To his surprise, the Miqo’te didn’t resist!
Shadowfeare reached his hands up to grasp onto the dragoon’s helmet, the visor still covering most of Estinien’s face. “Can’t I ever see you?” The blonde asked, when they pulled apart to breathe. Estinien made a deep noise in his throat, as he stroked the plump bottom lip of the Seeker. “You desire to see my face?” He questioned curiously. The blonde nodded slowly, crystal blue eyes looking eager.
Estinien looked around, making sure Ysayle and Alphinaud were still asleep, before looking back at the young dragoon. “I don’t normally show my face…but if you insist.” He murmured, reaching up to unclasp his helmet, before pulling it off, to reveal his long white hair tied back into a ponytail, with shaggy bangs sweeping over dark blue eyes. He watched as the blonde stared up at him, a soft smile curling his lips. “You’re rather handsome, Estinien.” He said, blushing a little. The Elezen made another noise, before looking around, quietly cursing the lack of proper space.
“So much snow…” he growled, startling the Seeker. “Estinien?” Shadowfeare asked slowly.
Estinien sighed and grabbed hold of the Miqo’te, “you’re cold aren’t you?” He asked, deciding against doing anything too rash. “O-Oh…yeah I’m not used to the cold…” he admitted, making a small noise in surprise when the older dragoon pulled him closer into his lap, wrapping the blanket around the two of them. “Then you just stay right here…” Estinien murmured, his grip tightening around the smaller man tightly as he felt and heard the Miqo’te’s purr.
The heat from the fire slowly died, as the two dragoons slowly drifted off to sleep as the warmth they shared grew stronger. Each one unsure as to what events will unfold with their growing mutual attraction.
