Work Text:
gaara leans back in his chair to get a glimpse of the moon out the window, and guesses it’s probably around three thirty in the morning. he turns back to the paper on his desk and sighs, reveling in the last task of a more or less sixteen hour work day. as he puts his signature on the bottom of the final piece of paperwork, a loud crash from his living room catches his attention.
he gets up slowly, the sand in his gourd already churning quietly, but he doesn’t sense any chakra. he makes his way there silently, and ducks back into the hallway when he notices a figure standing in front of his now broken window.
he stands with his back to the wall while he listens, hearing a wide sweeping sound, and then more crashes and bumps. but this time, he can hear a voice.
a hushed, “oh!” and then gaara hears something hit the painting on his wall, which is followed by a “oh, no, i’m sorry, i’m sorry!” the voice is hushed but straining, as if whoever it is, is in pain.
gaara decides they’re most likely not much of a threat, and turns the corner, only to find his living room full of feathers.
so, so many feathers.
mostly green and white, they dance around the living room like falling leaves around a tan figure standing in the middle of the mess.
oh, gaara thinks. that’s where they’re coming from.
as the figure turns to meet gaara’s stare, two beautiful wings follow their body. they’re massive, must be at least twenty feet in wingspan as they fill up the bottom half of the room. a magnificent blend of iridescent green and white feathers wrap the figure’s frame in an almost illuminating glow. gaara notices one of the wings seem like it’s not standing up like it’s supposed to.
“oh heavens!” they say loudly upon noticing gaara’s presence, bringing up two slender hands to their face. “i’m truly sorry to make a mess in your home, my friend, but i need your help.”
gaara blinks, wondering if he was hallucinating. maybe dreaming? “with what?” he asks, his eyes wandering to the very, very toned abdomen on the figure. thank god he was wearing a loincloth, or gaara would have to look away.
they step closer. “my wing is fractured, and it’s dirty. i can’t get home like this. uh,” they add. “my name is lee. i just decided to try the most important looking building in this village.”
gaara almost laughs. “well, you found it,” he says, starting towards the hallway. “follow me, and i can help you.” he watches as lee smiles widely and bows before he starts towards gaara. a puff of feathers is left in his wake, spreading into the hallway as they make their way to the bathroom.
“what is this?” lee asks as they enter, picking up a bottle of shampoo. gaara takes it from him swiftly and walks away, earning a shocked expression from lee.
“i don’t think you’re in a position to be asking any questions,” gaara says as he leans down and starts the tub, causing lee to jump at the noise. “i don’t even know what you are.”
“oh,” lee smiles proudly. “i’m an angel. a scouting angel.” he says as a matter of fact. gaara just watches with a raised eyebrow. “i come down to earth from heaven to find lost souls, people who need finding.”
gaara nods, turning away to sit down and adjust the heat on the faucet. “i wasn’t aware of your existence.”
lee huffs a laugh, getting closer and sitting on the floor next to gaara, his wings folded awkwardly at his sides. “i don’t think there’s another human on earth that is.” he says just as casually as everything else he’s said since crash landing through the window.
“what do you do once you find a soul?” gaara asked, his hand resting in the water.
lee smiles wider. “i meet their needs in whatever way they need to be met.”
gaara nods again, ignoring the almost static energy coming from the angel, before turning the tub off and standing up. “you’ll want to take your loincloth off and get in, it shouldn’t be too hot.” he walks towards the door, stepping over the wings that take up most of the floor. “there’s… well, there’s human soap in the blue bottle. i don’t know if you use something different.”
lee stares at gaara, then the tub, then back to gaara. “will you help me?” he asks, standing up and dropping his loincloth with no warning.
“oh, jesus!” gaara says loudly, turning away and covering his eyes. “you can’t just do that!”
“do what?” he asks, looking down at his now naked body. “you told me to.”
“not with me in the room!” gaara yells with his back turned. “i don’t know how it works up there, but down here we don’t get naked in front of strangers.”
“that is not how it works ‘up there’,” lee says as he slowly sinks into the warm water. his right wing stays tightly closed against his back as he gets in, but he picks his left up manually and slowly lowers it into the water. gaara turns cautiously, making sure there’s nothing for him to accidentally see. well, “accidentally”.
“what do you need my help with?” gaara asks as he walks back to the tub and sits down, looking up at lee. he had such a beautiful face, all sharp lines and tan skin with a heavenly, welcoming glow. his black hair was cut into a neat line across his forehead, but it lay disheveled on his head.
“my arm muscles are connected to my wing muscles,” lee starts to explain, gesturing to his back. “so when a wing has a fracture or puncture, it affects the way i move my arms.” he lifts his left arm up to his shoulder. “this is as far as i can go, and the fracture is all the way at the tip of my left wing. i can’t reach it.”
“oh,” gaara says quickly. “okay, that shouldn’t be too hard. what do you need me to do?”
lee leans forward, taking the tip of his left wing into his right hand and pulling it gently back towards them. “i need to clean and wrap right here,” he says, pointing to a crick on the last branch of feathers. “i won’t be able to fly again if i don’t. and be careful,” he adds with an almost shameful look, “they’re sensitive.”
gaara nods. “don’t worry,” he says quietly, leaning towards the wing that sat on the edge of the tub. lee watched intensely as gaara slowly slipped the feathers into his hands, cradling the break in his palm. he uses his right hand to scoop water onto the broken stalk of feathers, then to soothingly rub soap over the site. even wet, the feathers are impossibly soft and bright; truly a product of heaven, gaara thinks.
after the soap is washed away, gaara stops with an accomplished half-smile on his face. “there we go,” he says, turning back to lee. “let’s get you dry and-“
he cuts himself off when he meets lee’s stare, pupils blown and a deep chestnut flush across his cheeks. he breathes quickly, the water moving as he takes in heavy breaths. gaara thinks there might be sweat collecting on his forehead, but it could just be the water.
“uh, lee? you okay?”
lee nods, eyes transfixed on gaara. “you’re very good at this.” he stands up, water pouring off his sculpted body as his full erection meets gaara at eye level.
gaara thinks he passed out for a second, but quickly recovers from the floor he fell back onto. his blush matches lee’s now, who stands closer than before now that he’s gotten out of the tub. gaara hands him a towel with shaky hands, and he accepts it gratefully, gently dabbing at his wing.
“have i made you uncomfortable again?” lee asks as gaara makes his way to the door. his inflection almost demands gaara turn back, so he does, keeping his eyes trained on lee’s face and nowhere else. absolutely nowhere else.
gaara shakes his head, opting for the easy way through this. he reaches into the medicine cabinet and grabs a roll of bandages, turning back to lee with an outstretched hand. the air around gaara changes as the tip of lee’s wing lifts and comes to rest in gaara’s hold. he wraps it efficiently, not too quick to hurt lee, but quick enough to put this whole charade to an end. he takes the towel from lee’s other hand and wraps it awkwardly around his waist.
lee admired the job once he was finished, taking the bandaged part into his hold. he reached out quickly, taking gaara’s hand and putting it over the bandages, and under his. he leaned closer, seemingly attempting to be graceful but at the same time all too eager.
“you are nothing like the humans we hear about.” he almost whispers, a slight smile on his face. “you are so kind, so graceful and beautiful…” gaara almost rolls his eyes at that, but lee’s only seem to get bigger. “you are like one of us.”
gaara only furrows his brow at that, confused, but lee doesn’t give him much time to think anyways. “may i rest here for the night?” he asks excitedly, reaching behind gaara with perfect mobility to open the door. “where do you rest? i’d love to see you sleep!” he exclaims, pushing past him fully to exit the bathroom. gaara watches as his wings follow, taking an extra second to leave behind him.
gaara turned to the mirror and looked at himself for the first time in days. he looks better than he was expecting, having showered only a day before, but the week’s exhaustion was catching up to him.
he walked out, remembering lee’s apartment-trashing potential, and followed the trail of feathers to his bedroom. lee stood next to the bed, bathed in blue desert moonlight. his feathers breathed beside him, the bandaged tip still in his hands. gaara’s breath hitched as lee’s powerful aura focused entirely on him.
“are you going to rest?” he asked, voice almost commanding gaara to get in bed. instead, he scratched the back of his neck with a nervous laugh.
“sorry,” he said, looking away. “i’m not a normal human either. i don’t sleep much.”
“but,” lee said, and within a breath he was inches away from gaara, looking down at him with wide, searching eyes. feathers danced in the space where he once stood. “you’re exhausted. i can tell.” he pointed a single long finger at gaara’s chest.
gaara looked up, fear palpable in his face, but lee just smiled. he turned to the side and gestured towards the bed with his hand as well as the tip of his wing. “you should rest!”
gaara just blinks, suddenly aware of the walking nuke in his bedroom. with the speed lee has demonstrated just in his apartment with a broken wing, and with those abs… he must be extraordinarily strong.
however, gaara continued to feel completely unthreatened. the look on lee’s face is one of eager respect, and slight confusion as to why gaara was taking so long. he more wants to sink into that muscular embrace than anything, but that’s not even up for consideration.
not even a little bit.
he walked forward into the bedroom, eyeing lee as he slowly took his shirt off to change into sleepwear. as gaara lifted the shirt over and off his head, lee was behind him, with a hand hovering just over the surface of gaara’s ribs. it seemed as though lee was hesitating as his eyes stayed fixed on the area his hand hovered over, until he looked down at gaara through the mirror they stood in front of.
“would it be rude for someone to touch a stranger's skin?” lee asks quietly, his breath hot on gaara’s ear. gaara closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and exhaling through his nose.
this is definitely the weirdest thing to happen to him, right? surely this was the weirdest? he honestly couldn’t tell, but he knew he was done caring what happened to him a long, long time ago.
“yes,” gaara says as he opens his eyes, meeting lee’s stare in the mirror. “but you may if you so please.”
lee’s large hand is warm on gaara’s skin, almost too warm, and soon both hands are resting on gaara’s sides, just under his chest. they dwarf gaara’s frame, lee’s fingers almost touching in the center of gaara’s abdomen. “may i ask your name?” he whispered, and gaara realized he’d never introduced himself.
“oh, sorry,” he said, looking down and wondering why he hadn’t. “i guess i just assumed you’d know already.”
“i do,” lee says, sliding his hands to gaara’s stomach. it sends a shock straight to his groin. “i just thought i’d ask first.”
gaara looks forward and nods. “gaara.” he says, just as confidently as if lee didn’t just admit to knowing it already.
lee nods with him, almost copying the gesture. “it’s a beautiful name.” lee’s hands come up and cross gaara’s chest, enveloping him in a hug from behind, his wings soon after lifting up to wrap around the both of them. “you should rest.”
gaara turned around to face lee, finding himself much closer than he thought, with two massive wings caging in his small frame. lee holds his shoulders, smiling down at him innocently. “if you’d let me put my sleepwear on, maybe i will.”
the feathers poof around him, and lee is on the other side of the room before they settle. he nods quickly and gestures to the clothes in gaara’s hands.
gaara just stares back at him. “you are truly otherworldly,” he says as he slips his shirt on, and removes his slacks for a pair of cotton shorts. “haven’t you ever been to earth before? you must know some things about human culture.”
“last time i was on earth, i was one of you.” lee says with less enthusiasm than usual. gaara just nods as he puts on his shorts and turns to the bed, trying to pry as little as possible.
“well, i’m going to read a bit,” he says, turning on the lamp on the bedside table and picking up a small book. he slips under the covers and turns to lee. “you can sit if you’d like, i guess.”
lee smiles excitedly, slipping under the covers in the same way gaara did. he sinks into the bed, pulling the covers up to his chin and ruffling his wings to get comfortable. gaara just rolls his eyes, trying to find where he left off in his book, despite having little intention to actually read. he more just needs a distraction from the very, very attractive man in his bed.
“i thought this was where humans mated.” lee says naturally, staring up at gaara. “in beds, like this.” he explains further when he’s met with gaara’s deadpan.
“well, yeah, sometimes,” gaara explained, the blush in his complexion unwavering. “it doesn’t have to be in a bed, though. and it’s not called mating.”
“what’s it called?”
gaara swallows. “having sex.”
lee just nods, looking away from gaara towards the rest of the room. “fascinating.” gaara braced himself for the question he knew was coming, but he still couldn’t prepare himself enough for “have you ever had sex?”
gaara’s soul could have left his body ten times tonight, but there seem to be pieces left that exit through his lungs every time lee does or says something like that. he shakes his head, blush reaching the tips of his ears. how humiliating to admit your virginity to an actual angel of heaven. gaara wondered if it was better to be a virgin or not in this situation, given what little he knew about western christianity.
“why not?” lee asks innocently, but it still leaves a hole in gaara’s pride.
“haven’t found the right person.” gaara goes with. “what’s it like in heaven?” he asks to deflect, but it doesn’t work.
“we’re a very ‘sex’ positive race of beings,” lee starts to explain, getting closer. “angel’s don’t have boundaries like humans, and mating is communal and often.”
“are they all as hot as you?” gaara asks, half joking.
the air in the room shifts, and lee is so close, just inches away from gaara. they both stare back at each other with wide eyes, excitement and overstimulation pooling between them.
“do you think i’m attractive, gaara?” lee asks, putting an impossibly warm hand on gaara’s shoulder. he turns to lay on his side, his right wing coming to rest like a giant blanket over the both of them. gaara puts down the book and turns off the bedside lamp.
“you’re…” gaara swallows, looking away to let lee’s eyes bare holes in the side of his face. “certainly something, lee.” gaara couldn’t help but feel like a full admission would be too much, despite lee’s total lack of boundaries. “conventionally, yes, you are attractive.”
“do you,” lee emphasized again, pointing at gaara’s chest. “think i’m attractive?”
“yes,” gaara breathes, relenting. his chest rises and falls quickly, the feathers resting on him falling with his breath, reflecting moonlight from the windows. “very much so.”
lee beams. “how fascinating.” he turns to the window, as if to consider, and then turns back to gaara just as close as before. “you know, they don’t let us talk to humans like this. i’m so glad i met you, gaara.”
he raises an eyebrow. “am i going to get in trouble?” he asked jokingly, and lee laughs, a sound that commands pure happiness, ringing in gaara’s ears.
“you won’t, but i probably will,” he says with a smile, waving his other hand. gaara notes that it really does seem to be moving perfectly. “they won’t stay mad at me for long.”
gaara smiles fully for the first time that night, and it captivates lee. he quickly grabs the sides of gaara’s face, and frowns when gaara stops smiling because of the gesture.
“keep doing that, won’t you?” lee asks, and gaara feels like he’s shot a puppy. however, he knows from experience his forced smiles are a sorry sight, so instead he slowly peels lee’s hands from his face.
“i don’t smile much,” gaara says, trying to avoid the pitiful look in lee’s eyes. “i have a lot of stress.”
lee leans back and nods, closing his eyes and crossing his arms like gaara to do so. “human stress,” he says in understanding. “it’s a very evil thing. it radiates off of you, gaara.”
he deadpans. “is that so?”
“well,” lee says, a glint in his eye as he moves closer, his mouth hovering over gaara’s ear. “it’s not the only thing that radiates off of you. angels are very empathetic, in the literal sense.” he pauses. “when i’m this close, i can feel most of your emotions, desires and fears. they all seem to align with the same conclusion, my gaara.” lee pulls back just an inch to meet gaara’s eyes.
gaara looks up, despite his best judgement, and lee’s face is something of true ethereal beauty, dipped in blue and gold and arousal. his eyes are lidded half shut, looking thousands of miles down at gaara. impossibly small, impossibly powerless gaara. heat radiates in his pelvis at the feeling of being truly powerless in the hands of someone else, in the hands of lee. gaara wonders where the ring of golden light reflecting off lee’s hair is coming from.
“and what is that conclusion, lee?” he manages to squeak out.
lee’s hand slides up gaara’s shirt, coming to rest over his heart. gaara curses his raging heartbeat for betraying his somewhat-cool composure.
“you want someone to find you, gaara,” lee said at a whisper. he smiles, and adds, “amongst other things. both of which i could do for you.”
“lee,” gaara strains out, looking up at the angel. “i think i may die if you don’t kiss me, but i also think i may die if you kiss me, and leave.”
lee smiled softly, light radiating from his smooth outline and welcoming embrace. he dipped down, taking the back of gaara’s head into his hand and pressing his lips softly against gaara’s.
they radiated warmth, just like the rest of his skin, but against gaara’s mouth they moved in languid rhythm, spreading heat and sensation across gaara’s face. he became hot, his face bright red as lee pulled away, sensing his discomfort. gaara brought a hand up to his lips, and felt them tingle under his fingertips.
“i’m sorry,” lee said quietly, using the pad of his thumb to wipe at the corner of gaara’s mouth. “i forgot to tell you. an angel’s kiss feels differently from a human’s.” he cupped the side of gaara’s face. “and gaara, i’m not going anywhere.”
gaara blinked a couple times, catching his breath as his focus danced between lee, lee’s hand still under his shirt, or his straining arousal under the blankets of both fabric and feathers. he was sure lee was aware already, but it didn’t make him want to hide any less. stars danced behind his eyes as lee dipped down to kiss his cheek.
“do you want me to keep going?” lee asked against gaara’s ear. gaara nodded slowly, looking over to lee.
“can i touch you?” he asked desperately. “can i touch your wings?”
lee smiled and nodded, before moving closer to leave a trail of molten kisses down gaara’s neck. gaara’s hands sprawled across lee’s muscular back, following the massive stalks of feathers on his left wing. the feathers slid between gaara’s fingers with ease as his hands moved to the farthest point he could reach, heavenly soft under gaara’s palms. lee was breathing heavier now, his lips letting out hot air against gaara’s neck.
lee moved up to kiss at gaara’s face, leaving wet marks all over his skin. he finished with a firm but quick kiss on the lips, sending a shock of golden energy down his spine. one of gaara’s hands came to rest in lee’s short hair, the other hovering over the feathers in his lap.
“don’t stop,” lee breathed again gaara’s face, looking into his eyes with drunken lust. that deep chestnut blush was back, and gaara was finally understanding what lee meant by his wings being “sensitive”. he curled his hand under the inside of his right wing, stroking the secondary feathers just under his shoulder.
lee shuddered, letting out a low moan as gaara’s fingers circled the feathers and gently spread them apart. lee kissed both corners of gaara’s mouth quickly and thanked him breathlessly before leaning to continue kissing down gaara’s neck. lee’s hands explored gaara’s chest and stomach, smoothing over sharp planes of skin and muscle. he pushed up gaara’s shirt completely and took special attention to his ribs, running his fingers between them and dipping down to kiss the visible ridges of bone.
“lee,” gaara breathed, and lee stopped, lifting his head to look into gaara’s half closed eyes. “please,” he said, putting a hand on lee’s arm. “let me… do something to you.”
he wasn’t sure how to explain, but apparently it didn’t matter, because lee answered with a quick, “anything”. gaara moved lee onto his back, leaned against the pillows, and slowly undid the towel around lee’s waist.
“do you have blowjobs in heaven?” gaara asks from between lee’s legs, looking up to meet his blown out expression. he shook his head, but took gaara’s stopped hands into his own and took the towel off completely.
“show me,” lee said, putting gaara’s hand fully around his straining erection. “please.”
gaara paused, looking down at his hand around lee’s cock. he let go briefly to take his shirt off, but hesitatingly returned his hand to the bottom of lee’s length as he tossed his shirt to the side.
“tell me to stop if you get uncomfortable, okay? promise me you will.”
lee nods with wide eyes focused on gaara’s hand, only half listening. “i promise.”
with that, gaara dips his head down as lee watches expectantly and wraps his lips around the head of lee’s cock, sinking down and taking him into his throat. when he comes back up to settle on the tip, his hand still wrapped around the base, lee’s hands come down and settle in his hair. he guides gaara down his length with incredible confidence, letting out low pitched moans that settle under gaara’s skin.
“perfect,” lee breathes, looking down at gaara, his wide eyes lidded with arousal. “you’re perfect.” gaara moaned around his cock at the praise, and lee took note of his reaction. he watched gaara’s mouth rise and fall on his length, his hand deep in rust colored locks.
“gaara,” he commanded, letting his hand fall to the side of his face and later his chin when his mouth left the tip of lee’s cock. “come here.” he sat up, letting his wings unfold and fall to the sides as gaara clambered awkwardly into his lap.
lee kissed him, warm and sweet, before pulling back and taking a good look at the pale figure in his lap. it felt good to have gaara like this, submissive and available. he wanted to have gaara like this forever.
“my love,” he said, taking the side of gaara’s face into his hand, who leaned into the touch. he pressed their foreheads together gently and said, “i need to be inside you, beautiful.”
gaara nodded, falling to the side to remove his shorts and boxers, in lee’s opinion finally fully naked. he was mostly pale skin and sharp bones, with smooth planes of muscle on his arms and legs. as soon as the skin on gaara’s hips met the air, lee’s hands were there, smoothing over his lower stomach and hipbones. he picked gaara up by the sides and set him to rest back in his lap, sending a twitch straight to gaara’s crotch.
“are those normal human markings?” lee asks, pointing to the scars just under gaara’s pecs.
he laughs shortly. “no, no, they're scars. i guess i had something to warn you about too,” he says, looking away. “i wasn’t born like this.”
lee cocked his head in confusion, tracing the scars on gaara’s chest. “what do you mean?”
gaara swallows nervously. “i was born like this,” he says, leaning over to grab the book on the bedside table, pointing to the woman on the cover. “but i was never really like that. i’ve always been a man.”
“oh,” lee says with a smile. “how beautiful, to know yourself that well.” his hands come back to rest on gaara’s hips. “did you think that would change the way i feel about you, gaara?”
he nodded. “most people don’t take it as well as you.”
lee rubbed his hip soothingly. “you’re just as beautiful to me.” he leaned up to kiss at gaara’s jaw. “doesn’t make me want to be inside you any less.” he says against gaara’s skin.
gaara turns his face to meet lee’s lips, sliding his tongue into his mouth and relishing in the warm, languid contact. when he pulls away, his lips tingle again, and lee smiles up at him.
“please fuck me,” gaara whispers against lee’s collarbone, leaning foward into his caging embrace. lee nods against his shoulder, lifting gaara up by the back of his thigh to line himself up.
gaara can feel him pressing against him so he leans back, slipping lee inside with a moan. lee almost sings his name as he bottoms out, whispering “gaara, oh gaara,” into the hot air between them.
lee wraps his arms around him, pulling gaara close to his chest as he rocks his hips up, earning a high pitched moan from gaara that he stifles with his hand.
lee takes a hand off gaara’s back to peel the hand away from his mouth. “let me hear you, beautiful,” lee says, his voice low and thick like syrup. “i want to hear every sound.”
gaara can only nod as lee pulls out excruciatingly slow, only to rock back in at the same pace. he’s being undone, pulled apart by the seams at the hands of an angel. he wants to apologize, for even thinking of quieting himself, but real words haven’t been in gaara’s wheelhouse for quite some time now.
gaara’s moans and shaky breaths send lee into a lustful haze, seeking out louder and more indecent sounds every time he bottoms out. he’s a symphony of light sounds and breaths as lee slowly pumps into him, but lee wants more, intending on pleasuring gaara as much as humanly possible.
“gaara,” he breathes hot against his ear, snaking a hand up to the back of his head. “thank you, love,” he grips gaara’s hair lightly, picking up the pace. he moves down to his neck, sucking at the skin there before continuing. “you’re so beautiful, i could stay like this forever.”
gaara is a hot, babbling mess against lee’s chest, mumbling thank-you’s and borderline pornographic moans into the embrace. lee’s feathers ruffle involuntarily.
he’s close, and so is gaara, so he pushes them onto their sides, lifts gaara’s left leg and gives him everything he can. obscene sounds of skin against skin fill the room, but they barely make a sound compared to the begging, moaning, and heavy breathing coming from the both of them.
“please, baby,” lee says, looking into gaara’s glossed-over stare. “come for me, sweetheart. you've earned it, love.”
so gaara does, halfway down lee’s cock, babbling his name and leaving deep red scratch marks all over his biceps. black and gold stars dance around his eyes as his orgasm pulses through him, every part of his body trembling as lee slowly pulls out.
he stood up slowly, leaning over gaara and placing a kiss on his forehead as he went. he must have gone somewhere, gaara thinks, because it takes some time for the warm hand to return on his upper arm. gaara looks up weakly, and finds lee with a towel and a damp washcloth in his hands, his afterglow beautifully illuminated by the moonlight seeping through the windows.
lee wipes him down, sitting on the edge of the bed to take special care of his body. the warm washcloth picks up any sweat or other bodily fluids left of gaara’s body, and the towel picked up the dampness left behind on his skin. gaara lets himself be taken care of, sighing softly at the gesture and leaning into lee’s hand when it comes to rest on the side of his face.
“please stay,” gaara starts at a whisper, to which lee puts his hand up to gaara’s mouth.
“you don’t have to ask, my love. i will rest with you.” he assured quickly, slipping back into bed next to gaara and scooping him up into a warm embrace. lee’s wing came to rest on top of them, sheltering them from anything and everything. “thank you, gaara. i truly can’t thank you enough.”
gaara huffs against lee’s plush chest muscle. “i should be thanking you, lee.” he said slowly, his will to stay awake fading fast as lee’s fingers curled through gaara’s hair.
gaara can feel the smile on lee’s face. “the only thing you should do is rest.”
so gaara does, sinking into the mattress and lee’s safe embrace as he’s lulled to sleep.
