TEASER
FADE IN:
INT. SAYORI'S HOUSE - UPSTAIRS HALLWAY - DAY
The creaking floorboards echo through the empty hall as OC
ascends the stairs.
OC
Sayori! You in here?
He climbs to the top of the stairs and sees SAYORI's
bedroom door at the end of the hallway. He approaches and
knocks on the door.
OC
Sayori! Wake up, dummy!
There's no response. He considers his options before
reaching for the door knob. He gently opens the door.
OC
Sayo-
He is cut off when he sees SAYORI HANGING from the ceiling.
He gasps in horror at the sight.
INT. OC'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - MORNING
OC jerks awake with a scream, sitting up in his bed. He's
panting heavily. A hand reaches from the other side of the
bed and grabs his shoulder. Sayori sits up next to him.
SAYORI
Are you okay, hun?
OC
(panting)
Yeah. Just a bad dream.
He looks at his alarm clock.
OC (CONT'D)
We're gonna be late for school!
They both run out of bed.
INT. OC'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - CONTINUOUS
They run downstairs and quickly grab the ingredients for a
sandwich. OC is struggling to get his school uniform
pants on as they run out the door.
EXT. SIDEWALK - CONTINUOUS
They continue to rush to school, eating the sandwiches one
part at a time.
SAYORI
(with bread in
mouth)
Do you have the cheese?
OC hands her some sliced cheese.
OC
Give me some meat.
They trade items and eat them as more and more students
begin to crowd the street.
INT. SCHOOL - ENTRANCE - CONTINUOUS
They get inside just as they finish their breakfast. OC
turns to Sayori.
OC
See you at the club after school.
SAYORI
Can't wait!
They split off and go to their respective classes in a calm
and leisurely matter.
INT. SCHOOL - HALLWAY - DAY
The school bell rings and OC is already out the door of his
classroom as the hall floods with students. He pushes past
them and makes his way to the second floor. He passes a
sign for the festival being taken down. He turns into one
of the classrooms.
INT. LITERATURE CLUB - CONTINUOUS
The literature club is filled with new members, almost
taking up the entire room. OC walks through the room,
passing all of his fellow club members, each in their own
corner with their own group.
Sayori is with a group she's teaching how to write poems.
YURI is surrounded by people watching her read aloud from
Portrait of Markov.
NATSUKI is sitting in the corner alone reading manga.
And MONIKA is at the teacher's desk working on some things.
OC stands at the front of the class and takes in the whole
room.
END OF TEASER
ACT 1
BLACK SCREEN:
SUPER: "Monika's day"
INT. MONIKA'S ROOM - MORNING
Monika wakes up in her room. She immediately feels like
something's wrong. She sits up and looks around. All the
shelves are full of books and scientific equipment, all top
of the line. Hanging on the wall are various award
certificates she's won. She turns to her calendar on the
wall. The whole first week is crossed out.
MONIKA
Tuesday.
(starts to smile)
It's Tuesday.
She falls back onto her bed and starts laughing.
MONIKA (CONT'D)
It's Tuesday!
She quickly sits back up with a realization.
MONIKA
I'm gonna be late for school.
EXT. SIDEWALK - MORNING
She bursts through her front door, ready for school. She
stops and looks at her neighborhood. It's normal. Just your
average American Suburbia yet she looks as if she's seeing
it for the first time.
She walks away from the school and looks into her neighbors
window. There's a man working in the kitchen. She waves at
him and he waves back. Monika gets a big smile and runs to
school.
INT. SCHOOL - ENTRANCE - DAY
She enters the school and stops in awe as she takes in the
crummy high school. The paint is peeling near the ceiling,
the carpet is dirty and gross, and all the students look
miserable, but Monika keeps her big smile, as if having
never seen a real building in her life. She takes a big
SNIFF and immediately recoils from the stench. The bell
rings again and she runs to her class.
INT. LITERATURE CLUB - DAY
Monika is the first person in the club. The room still has
some decorations from the festival hanging on the walls and
windows.
She goes over to the teachers desk and sits down. Every
action she takes is as if she's doing them for the first
time. She looks under the desk and opens one of the
drawers. She giggles and opens another, and another, and
another.
She switches to the other side and opens a drawer there. In
shock she quickly SLAMS it closed.
MONIKA
WHOA! I did not know that was in
there.
There's a knock at the door. Monika looks up to see someone
new. His name's JAIDEN. Your average school student,
dressed like everyone else.
JAIDEN
Is this the Literature Club?
Monika gets up from the desk and curiously walks over to
Jaiden.
MONIKA
Who are you?
JAIDEN
I'm Jaiden. We met at the festival
yesterday.
Monika gently pokes Jaiden's shoulder.
JAIDEN (CONT'D)
Are you alright?
Monika is fascinated by him.
MONIKA
Do you have teeth?
JAIDEN
(confused)
Uhh. Yeah.
Monika smiles in amazement.
MONIKA
I have teeth too.
JAIDEN
(awkward pause)
No dentures in this class, then.
Monika laughs quietly, slowly building up to raucous
laughter, as if she's never heard a joke before.
Sayori walks in behind him.
SAYORI
Hi Monika!
Monika jumps back in shock seeing her.
MONIKA
SAYORI!
SAYORI
I see you met J-
Sayori is cut off by Monika giving her a big hug.
SAYORI (CONT'D)
You're awfully happy today,
Monika.
Monika picks her up off her feet and shakes her lightly.
SAYORI (CONT'D)
(distressed)
Monika! MONIKA!
Monika drops her.
MONIKA
Sorry. I just didn't expect to see
you today.
SAYORI
I didn't eat THAT much
yesterday.
JAIDEN
Sayori, I have that poem for
today.
Sayori gasps
SAYORI
Wonderful, Jaiden! We can start
trading poems when the others get
here.
MONIKA
How many more are coming?
SAYORI
A ton of people joined after the
festival, remember?
MONIKA
Right. Well I'll be at the desk.
Jaiden, I hope you have a good
time in the Literature Club and if
you need anything I'm...
(thinks for a
second)
Happy to hear it!
Monika walks back to the teachers desk. She leans back in
the office chair. It SQUEAKS. Monika is shocked by the
noise. She does it again in amazement. She begins rocking
back and forth, full of joy.
The room begins to fill with other students, all either
reading or talking in groups. OC enters and stands next to
Monika.
MONIKA
OC! OC! Come here!
He walks over to her.
OC
What is it, Monika?
MONIKA
Check this out.
She leans back, making the chair squeak. OC looks at her in
confusion.
OC
It needs oiling.
MONIKA
I know!
OC
I think I can get some if it's
bothering you.
MONIKA
NO! Not at all. I've never heard
that sound before.
OC
You must have some nice chairs
then.
MONIKA
Must've.
(leans back
slowly letting
out a loud
squeak)
We should do something.
OC
About the chair?
MONIKA
No.
(stands up and
grabs oc's hand)
I've just got this new, freeing
urge to do something I've never
done before.
OC
Like what?
Monika thinks for a moment.
MONIKA
I've got it!
OC in hand, Monika runs out of the classroom.
MONIKA
(while running)
Sayori, you're in charge while I'm
gone.
Sayori's eyes widen when she says that.
INT. SCHOOL - HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
She drags OC into the long and empty upstairs hallway.
MONIKA
There's so much space here. We
could do something great!
OC
How great can an empty hallway be?
MONIKA
You know in movies when people
grab a fire extinguisher and use
it to roll around in office
chairs. Could we get from one side
of the hall to the other doing
that?
OC
Not with one fire extinguisher.
MONIKA
Why not?
OC
Well, the average fire time of a
standard fire extinguisher is
twenty seconds. The thrust
wouldn't be enough to propel
itself across the entire room. And
that's before we calculate the
weight of the chair and the rider.
MONIKA
How do you know the fire time of a
fire extinguisher?
OC
Sayori.
MONIKA
Oooh. So how many would we need?
OC
Guess we'll have to figure that
out.
END OF ACT 1
ACT 2
BLACK SCREEN
SUPER:"Natsuki and Yuri's day"
We hear the BEEPING of an alarm clock. The screen splits
into two sides.
INT. YURI'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - MORNING - LEFT
Yuri awakes in her bed, a smile on her face.
YURI
Tuesday.
INT. NATSUKI'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - SAME - RIGHT
Natsuki wakes up at the same time as Yuri. She squints at
the light and speaks right after Yuri.
NATSUKI
Ugh, Tuesday.
INT. YURI'S HOUSE
Yuri's room is dark and lit dimly, all furniture and
decorations are dark colors. It's well kept and full of
books, and knives hanging on the walls.
She gets up quickly and makes her bed before heading to the
door.
INT. NATSUKI'S HOUSE
Natsuki's room is brightly lit and very pink. It's
cluttered with clothes and various anime figures. The walls
are covered in anime posters.
She crawls out of bed onto the floor and drags herself to
the door at the same time as Yuri.
INT. YURI'S HOUSE - HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
Yuri briskly walks down the hall and into the bathroom,
closing the door behind her.
INT. NATSUKI'S HOUSE - HALLWAY - SAME
Natsuki, still on the floor, makes her way into her
bathroom and closes the door.
INT. YURI'S HOUSE
The bathroom door bursts open with Yuri standing in the
entrance. She's fully dressed with her backpack on and
ready for the day. She gleefully walks out of the hall.
INT. NATSUKI'S HOUSE
The door opens with Natsuki standing in it, still tired.
Her uniform is messy but acceptable and she's dragging her
backpack on the floor next to her. She begrudgingly walks
out of the hall.
INT. YURI'S HOUSE - STAIRCASE - CONTINUOUS
Yuri ascends her basement stairs to the living room.
INT. NATSUKI'S HOUSE - STAIRCASE - SAME
Natsuki descends the second floor staircase to the living
room.
INT. YURI'S HOUSE - FRONT DOOR - CONTINUOUS
Yuri walks to her front door before turning back at the
rest of her house.
YURI
Goodbye Foster Mother!
YURI'S FOSTER MOTHER (O.S.)
Bye sweety, have fun at school!
Yuri goes out the door.
INT. NATSUKI'S HOUSE - FRONT DOOR - SAME
Natsuki sneaks to the door and meekly looks around the
room.
NATSUKI
(quietly)
Bye Papa.
A full beer bottle flies across the room and hits the wall
next to her.
NATSUKI
EEP!
She runs out the door.
INT. SCHOOL - CLASSROOM - DAY
Screen still split, Yuri is sitting at her desk reading a
book. Her eyes darting between the book and the teacher.
Natsuki is at her desk with her head in her hand. She
starts to drift off and almost collapses before waking up
to the bell ringing.
INT. SCHOOL - HALLWAY - DAY
They are both walking opposite directions down the second
floor hallway. The split camera merges together as Natsuki
and Yuri collide with each other walking into the
literature club.
YURI
I'm sorry, oh hello Natsuki. How
are you today?
NATSUKI
I don't want to talk about it.
INT. LITERATURE CLUB - CONTINUOUS
Natsuki walks into the club with Yuri following her. The
place is getting pretty crowded.
YURI
Something bad happen? Talking
about it to someone might make you
feel better.
NATSUKI
Look, I just wanna read some Manga
in peace today. Is that too much
to ask?
YURI
I've found that reading with
someone can really help ones
psychology. If you're interested
you could join my book club and-
NATSUKI
(rolling her
eyes)
Oh shut up.
Creeping up behind Natsuki is a new member named CRAIG. A
very nerdy guy barely fitting in his uniform. He
straightens his neck beard before approaching Natsuki.
CRAIG
Hi Natsuki.
YURI
Privet, Craig.
NATSUKI
What do you want, Craig?
CRAIG
I was just wondering where you'd
be sitting this club meeting.
NATSUKI
In the corner, alone, like always.
Natsuki walks to the corner.
YURI
She's having a rough day. Let her
get into some reading. I'm sure
she'll cheer up.
Natsuki sits in the corner near the closet, holding
Parfait Girls.
NATSUKI
What a creep. Can't he see I'm not
interested?
Natsuki takes a deep breath and starts reading.
CRAIG (O.S.)
You're reading Parfait Girls too?
Natsuki Rolls her eyes and looks up at him.
NATSUKI
Yes Craig.
CRAIG
(sitting down
next to natsuki)
Mind if I read it with you?
He's holding his own copy of the manga.
NATSUKI
I thought you normally read things
with dragons and wizards in them.
CRAIG
I do, but this just jumped out at
me when I saw it.
Natsuki sighs
NATSUKI
Fine, as long as you read quietly.
CRAIG
Will do.
Natsuki gives him an aggressive look. Craig mimes a zipper
over his mouth. Natsuki looks back down at her book and
continues reading, Craig does the same. He starts to
chuckle.
CRAIG
Have you gotten this far yet?
NATSUKI
(annoyed)
I've finished the series already.
CRAIG
Oh. Well, this part's very good.
NATSUKI
Mhm.
They read in silence a bit longer. Craig laughs louder and
begins wheezing. He grabs an inhaler and uses it loudly.
Natsuki grows more agitated, gripping her manga tightly.
CRAIG
Hey do you-
NATSUKI
THAT'S IT!
Natsuki stands up and marches across the room to Monika,
who's heading out the door with OC
NATSUKI
Monika I need to talk to you right
now.
MONIKA
(still walking)
If it's about the club then talk
to Sayori.
Natsuki makes her way to Sayori who's sitting at the
teacher's desk.
NATSUKI
Sayori something needs to be done
with Craig!
SAYORI
(excited)
I'm happy to hear it.
NATSUKI
All he's done in the club is hit
on me! It's getting really
annoying. I use this club as a
place to get away from people and
it's hard to do that with Craig
breathing down my neck all the
time!
Sayori sits wide eyed in silence for a brief period.
NATSUKI (CONT'D)
Well?
SAYORI
Your problem is very important to
me and I will do everything in my
power to help you fix it.
NATSUKI
Like what?
Sayori sits in silence again.
SAYORI
It will take some time for us to
fix the problem but I assure you
you'll be the first person to know
when it is done.
Natsuki grunts angularly and storms off. She stands in one
of the only empty spots in the room and thinks to herself.
NATSUKI
(to herself)
I need a way to get rid of him,
but the only way he'd leave is if
Monika kicked him out herself. So
I need to create a reason for her
to do that.
(evil grin)
I can do that.
END OF ACT 2
ACT 3
BLACK SCREEN
SUPER: "Sayori's Day"
INT. OC'S HOUSE - BEDROOM - MORNING
OC and Sayori are in bed. This is the scene from the
Teaser.
OC
We're gonna be late for school!
OC runs out of bed and runs downstairs.
OC (O.S.)
Come on, Sayori!
SAYORI
Just a minute!
Sayori grabs a pill bottle off the bedside table and takes
a pill.
The world around her is transformed into a colorful fantasy
landscape.
EXT. FANTASY KINGDOM - DAY
Hey eyes beam and sparkle as she takes in the world around
her.
She stands up and twirls, her pajamas magically turn her
school uniform.
Woodland creatures gather around her and carry her down a
hill. Pieces of bread and lunch meat fly into her hands.
A HAPPY CLOUD forms next to her and extends its hand. She
takes it and they begin to rush down a dirt path. Sayori
takes a bite of bread.
SAYORI
Mr Cloud, do you have any cheese?
The cloud hands her a piece of cheese.
HAPPY CLOUD
Do you have any meat, Sayori?
She hands him some lunch meat. Various fantasy characters
begin to gather around them.
INT. FAIRY CASTLE - CONTINUOUS
They run into the Fairy Castle.
HAPPY CLOUD
See you at the club after school.
SAYORI
Can't wait!
The cloud runs down the corridor. Sayori spins and slowly
rests on a wooden stump, surrounded by Fairies and Unicorns
as the real world begins to fade in.
INT. LITERATURE CLUB - DAY
Sayori is sitting with a group of students sharing poems.
Monika runs past her.
MONIKA
Sayori, you're in charge while I'm
gone.
Sayori's eyes widen.
SAYORI
(amazed mumble)
I've never been in charge before.
(stands up)
Don't worry, Monika! I'm gonna do
the best job ever!
She starts to walk to the teachers desk, eyes still wide
with amazement.
She sits down and embraces the feeling of power given to
her.
SAYORI
(to herself)
Alright. I won't let Monika down!
NATSUKI (O.S.)
Sayori something needs to be done
with Craig!
Sayori looks up to see Natsuki standing at the desk angry
as ever.
SAYORI
(excited)
I'm happy to hear it.
Natsuki starts talking.
SAYORI (V.O.)
(talking over
natsuki)
Aw man I hope this isn't gonna be
hard. I need to prove to Monika I
can be responsible and if Natsuki
asks me to do something I can't do
then there's no way she'll ever
trust me again. What is she even
doing out there with OC? Is she
getting snacks. Will she bring me
one? Aw man, I want a cupcake now.
I know I'll ask Natsuki to make
some!
Sayori looks up to see Natsuki standing at the desk angry
as ever.
NATSUKI
Well?
SAYORI (V.O.)
Oh no she was talking this whole
time! Come on Sayori, think of
something!
SAYORI
Your problem is very important to
me and I will do everything in my
power to help you fix it.
NATSUKI
Like what?
SAYORI (V.O.)
Oh if I only knew what she said
this would be a lot easier. I just
need to say something that could
mean a lot of things. What's the
word? No time for that!
SAYORI
It will take some time for us to
fix the problem but I assure you
you'll be the first person to know
when it is done.
Natsuki grunts angularly and storms off. Sayori buries her
head in her arms.
SAYORI
What am I gonna do now? Maybe I
should get Monika's help.
She lifts her head from her arms.
SAYORI (CONT'D)
NO! I promised I'd take care of
anything and that's what I'm gonna
do!
She stands up heroically.
SAYORI (CONT'D)
I swear I will fix Natsuki's
problem or my name isn't-
MONIKA (O.S.)
(friendly)
Sayori!
Sayori stops abruptly as Monika walks back into the room.
MONIKA (CONT'D)
(walking to
sayori)
Anything happen while I was gone?
Sayori pauses in thought for a second.
SAYORI
Nope. Business as usual.
MONIKA
Great!
(walks past
sayori and pats
her on the back)
Thanks for taking charge while I
was gone.
Sayori smiles with disappointment in herself for failing to
help Natsuki.
CUT TO:BLACK
SUPER: "Tuesday Night"
INT. OC'S HOUSE - STUDY - NIGHT
OC is standing in a dimly lit room working at a drawing
table. He's drawing a schematic for something. He takes a
step back.
OC
There, that should do it.
The designs on the table are of an office chair with five
fire extinguishers tied to it.
OC (CONT'D)
Perfect.
INT. NATSUKI'S HOUSE - KITCHEN - NIGHT
Natsuki is making cupcakes. She finishes mixing the batter
and goes to the fridge. She opens the door and grabs a BEER
BOTTLE.
NATSUKI
Papa won't mind.
She walks to the batter and pours the beer into it.
END OF ACT 3
ACT 4
BLACK SCREEN
SUPER: "Wednesday"
INT. LITERATURE CLUB - DAY
Natsuki walks in with a plate of cupcakes and an evil grin
on her face. Most of the new members have already arrived.
Sayori walks up and tries to grab one.
SAYORI
Oooh Cupcakes!
Natsuki SWATS her hand away.
NATSUKI
HEY! These are not for you!
(walks away)
Oh Craig!
Sayori rubs her hand.
SAYORI
Aw man. She must hate me for not
being able to help her. If only I
had another chance.
Over by the Teachers desk OC runs up to Monika with the
plans from last night.
OC
Monika, I've got some plans. This
should get us across the hall.
Monika looks up in excitement.
MONIKA
(standing up)
Let's go try it then!
They both run out the club room. They pass by Sayori on
their way out.
MONIKA (CONT'D)
Sayori, you're in charge while I'm
gone!
Sayori's eyes brighten up again.
SAYORI
This is my chance! Okay what would
Monika do if she was in over her
head?
(thinks)
I'VE GOT IT!
Sayori runs out of the club room.
Natsuki sets the plate of cupcakes on a table in the back.
Yuri walks up behind her.
YURI
Those cupcakes give off a strange
aroma. Is this a new recipe?
NATSUKI
You could say that.
YURI
Well it's good to see you applying
yourself and trying new things.
Yuri goes for a cupcake. Natsuki moves the plate away from
her.
NATSUKI
Hey! These cupcakes are for Craig
only.
YURI
Ah. Do I sense a crush?
NATSUKI
EW GROSS! No. This is more of a
peace offering.
YURI
Well I'm sure he'll like them.
Natsuki gets that evil grin again.
NATSUKI
I'm sure he will.
Yuri walks away.
NATSUKI (CONT'D)
HEY CRAIG!
Almost too fast, Craig runs to her.
CRAIG
What is it, Natsuki?
NATSUKI
Would you like a cupcake?
Natsuki grabs one and offers it to him.
CRAIG
I would love one. Thanks, Nat.
He grabs the cupcake and eats it.
NATSUKI
Don't mention it.
When Craig bites down he is both disgusted but intrigued by
the flavor.
CRAIG
What did you put in these?
NATSUKI
It's an... old family recipe. Well
I'm going to sort my manga. Have
as many as you like.
Natsuki walks away, leaving Craig to eat. Craig grabs
another as a few more students walk up to him.
STUDENT 1
You aren't really gonna eat those,
are you?
STUDENT 2
Yeah they don't seem right.
CRAIG
I DON'T CARE! Natsuki made them
and that's all that matters. And
you're all going to eat them as
well.
STUDENT 1
Hold on, there's no way we're
eating those.
CRAIG
Natsuki might feel offended if we
don't eat them all.
STUDENT 2
Good luck with that.
CRAIG
Well anyone who doesn't eat them
I'll have to tell my brother
about.
Jaiden
Greg the Destroyer?
CRAIG
The very same. SO EAT UP!
Everyone begrudgingly grabs a cupcake.
INT. SCHOOL - PRINCIPAL OFFICE - DAY
Sayori is sitting at the desk, talking to the PRINCIPAL.
He's a very stern looking older man, dressed in a fine
suit.
PRINCIPAL
So you're telling me that one of
your club members has a problem
you don't know about, you don't
know the severity of, nor do you
know the context behind, and
you've come to me for help.
Sayori sits casually, happy as ever.
SAYORI
Yep!
PRINCIPAL
Any problem brought to my
attention is of the utmost
importance. I will do what I can
to aid you, but if I find this is
just something to waste my time
then there will be consequences.
SAYORI
(still smiling)
Okay!
PRINCIPAL
Then I will be up soon to help.
This better be important.
SAYORI
I promise it will be.
INT. SCHOOL - HALLWAY - DAY
OC and Monika are finishing up the rocket chair OC
designed. The extinguishers are strapped around the seat so
the driver is propelled backwards.
OC
Alright that should do it.
MONIKA
You designed all this last night?
OC stands up from working under the chair.
OC
Yeah, just whipped it up real
fast.
MONIKA
Where did you learn to do this?
OC
When we were younger Sayori and I
would always go on crazy
adventures and I would make the
pirate ship or spaceship we used.
MONIKA
Have you ever thought about taking
a class?
OC
What, in design? Nah, doubt I'd be
any good.
MONIKA
Dude, the plans for this looks
like a blueprint for a NASA Space
shuttle. I think you'd be great at
this.
OC
(smirks)
Well I guess I can't turn down the
club president.
Monika smiles in a playful way.
MONIKA
No, you can't. Now let's strap you
in.
OC
You don't want to go first?
MONIKA
I'll let the designer take the
maiden voyage.
INT. LITERATURE CLUB - DAY
Natsuki walks out of the closet with a happy expression.
That expression quickly changes as she sees the state of
the club room.
Books strewn all over the floor as chairs and desks were
overturned as if a raucous party had taken place. The club
members stumble around drunkenly. Some giggling in the
corner, some passed out on the floor, some barely able to
walk.
NATSUKI
This got a little out of hand.
YURI (O.S.)
NATSUKI!
Natsuki turns to see Yuri marching towards her. She grabs
Natsuki by the arm and drags her by the door.
YURI (CONT'D)
What did you put in those
cupcakes!?
NATSUKI
Nothing, I made them the same way
I always make them.
YURI
I've had your cupcakes and they've
never been that good.
NATSUKI
You saying my cupcakes are bad?
YURI
NONSENSE! Your cupcakes are still
one of the greatest things in my
life.
NATSUKI
Then what are you saying?
YURI
I'm trying to say I know what an
inebriated nerd looks like.
NATSUKI
How do you know that?
YURI
I’m from Russia! We give Teenagers
Vodka after getting a flu shot! I
know what a drunk neckbeard looks
like, and what you have in there
is a gaggle!
NATSUKI
Okay maybe I put some of my dad's
beer in the batter, but only Cwaig
was supposed to have them.
CRAIG (O.S.)

(vomit noises)
YURI
Well you better have a plan to fix
this before Monika gets back.
NATSUKI
Where is Monika anyway?
INT. SCHOOL - HALLWAY - DAY
OC is strapped to the rocket chair. He's holding onto a
joystick in the front of the chair like a fighter pilot.
Monika is around the back tightening the straps.
MONIKA
Harness secured.
OC
Ignition-
OC pulls a string, releasing all the pins from the fire
extinguishers.
OC (CONT'D)
Armed.
Monika walks around to the front of the chair.
MONIKA
(salutes)
Godspeed, Literature one.
OC squeezes the joystick causing all the fire extinguishers
to fire. He picks up speed and sails through the hallway,
Monika trying to keep up.
INT. LITERATURE CLUB - DAY
While Natsuki and Yuri are trying to think of how to fix
their mess Sayori comes skipping through the door.
SAYORI
Hey Natsuki, I think I found the
solution to your problem! All we
need is- GAHHH!
Sayori is stunned by the mess covering the club. Natsuki
and Yuri panic.
NATSUKI
Sayori it's now what it looks
like.
YURI
What exactly is it suppose to look
like?
NATSUKI
Oh shut up!
Sayori backs out of the room into the hallway.
INT. SCHOOL - HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
Sayori stops in the middle of the hallway. Natsuki and Yuri
follow her out the room.
Racing down the hallway, the rocket chair is at full speed.
Monika sees Sayori and tries to run ahead of the chair.
MONIKA
SAYORI! LOOK OUT!
Sayori turns to see the rocket chair coming straight
towards her. It hits her dead on, causing her to flip over
it and lands on her back. OC tries to stop the chair and
barely succeeds, stopping on the edge of the stairs. He
quickly gets out and runs to Sayori.
The chaotic scene begins to calm. The walls, floor, and
ceiling are caked in white foam. Everyone gathers over
Sayori.
MONIKA
Are you okay?
SAYORI
(dazed)
I think I'm in a cloud.
OC
Nope, you're still here with us.
Natsuki walks down the hall a bit.
NATSUKI
Hey guys, how long has that statue
been there?
They look up to see a human shaped figure covered in foam
standing on the side of the hallway. The figure turns
towards them and walks closer. It wipes foam off its face
to reveal he's the Principal.
PRINCIPAL
You five! My office! NOW!
INT. PRINCIPAL OFFICE - DAY
Monika, Natsuki, Yuri, Sayori, and OC sit on a bench with
their heads held low. The Principal is outraged.
PRINCIPAL
It's barely been twenty four hours
after the festival and already
your club is running amuck! Racing
down hallways, endangering
students, wasting school
resources!
SAYORI
Plus we got all the-
Yuri quickly covers Sayori's mouth.
YURI
Walls covered in foam.
PRINCIPAL
Don't think I forgot that. I am
going to give you one free pass
for this. Just clean up the hall
and we'll forget this ever
happened, BUT I will be keeping a
close eye on that club and if you
mess up again there will be
serious consequences.
MONIKA
Yes sir.
PRINCIPAL
Good. Now get out of here and get
cleaning.
Everyone gets up and starts walking out the door.
PRINCIPAL (CONT'D)
I expected more from you, Ms.
Sakae.
Monika pauses on her way out and smiles before continuing.
INT. SCHOOL - ENTRANCE - CONTINUOUS
The gang starts to walk back to the clubroom. OC leans to
Monika.
OC
I've been thinking about what you
said. I think I will take up a
design class.
MONIKA
That's great! I think you'll be
amazing at it.
OC
Hopefully, but I'll stay away from
things that cause that much
destruction.
MONIKA
That was my first time being in
trouble at school.
OC
Really? Not mine. How'd it feel?
MONIKA
Good. I want to do it again.
OC
Wait, really? After all that?
MONIKA
Well we'll tone it down a bit, but
I want to keep going. This feels
like the first time I've ever been
free to do anything I want and I
don't want to waste it.
OC
If you say so.
Sayori rests her head on Monika's shoulder.
SAYORI
I'm sorry, Monika.
MONIKA
For what? You have nothing to be
sorry for.
SAYORI
You put me in charge and this
whole mess happened because of me.
I wanted to show you that I could
be trusted to lead and I went and
blew it.
MONIKA
Oh Sayori.
Monika wraps her arm around Sayori.
MONIKA (CONT'D)
You never had anything to prove to
- You know I trust you more then
anyone. That's why you're vice
president.
Sayori smiles. Natsuki turns to Yuri.
NATSUKI
How do you do it?
YURI
Do what?
NATSUKI
When you joined this cwub you wewe
just as much of an intwovewt as I
was, now wook at you! You'we in
youw own book cwub, you'we
speaking youw mind mowe. How do
you do it?
YURI
Before I was in the club people
would call me a know it all. I
would ramble on and on about books
and literature and they'd leave
and call me a freak, but when I
joined and met people like OC or
you I learned that not everyone is
terrible. Everyone in that club is
bound by one thing. The love of
literature, so when I go up to
people and tell them about my
favorite book, they're interested
in my opinion and want to share
theirs as well. Outside of the
club I still shudder at the idea
of talking to someone, but in the
club I feel a bit safer.
NATSUKI
But how does that help me?
YURI
You like manga, OC likes manga,
even Craig likes manga. Start
asking people, more might say they
do then you'd expect.
NATSUKI
Okay. I guess I'll give it a try.
YURI
Plus if anyone gives you any
trouble then you have us to rely
on.
Natsuki smiles.
NATSUKI
Thanks, Yuri.
The five of them walk down the hall as the sun sets.

INT. MONIKA'S ROOM - NIGHT
Monika is pacing around her room.
MONIKA
(excited)
I can't believe it. It's
Wednesday! I've never gotten this
far. For the first time I have no
clue what tomorrow holds for me!
Everything is different! Well, not
everything.
Monika stops and turns to the camera.
MONIKA (CONT'D)
You're still here. You're not OC.
You're you, watching from a
distance. Thanks for staying with me.
I'll try to put on a good
show. The future has so much in
store for us. I have a last name,
Sayori's better, we're in America
now, I almost don't know what to
do.
(beat)
I guess we'll see what high school
has in store for us.
