Twin thing

Summary:

The classroom was unusually quiet, with only the stable rhythm of clicking pens, coughing, and the obnoxiously loud ticking noise of the stupid square shaped clock being able to be heard by ears.

There is 15 minutes left until the exam ends, and all that Technoblade could feel was dread.

It wasn’t his own though.

OR

Platonic soulmate au where they can feel each other’s emotions.

(Spoilers: they use it to cheat)

Work Text:

The classroom was unusually quiet, with only the stable rhythm of clicking pens, coughing, and the obnoxiously loud ticking noise of the stupid square shaped clock being able to be heard by ears.

There is 15 minutes left until the exam ends, and all that Technoblade could feel was dread.

It wasn’t his own though.

It was his twin’s.

A lot of things occurring in the daily lives of Technoblade and Wilbur soot can be explained with a simple sentence:

“It’s just a twin thing.”

Like when they say things at the exact same time, or how they share mannerisms, how they can literally feel what the other is feeling.

The last one is not exaggerated. Like, they can actually feel what the other is feeling, for real.

Best bet is fate, maybe they share a soul or something, who knows. It’s just—as it is, a “twin thing.”

It’s mostly confusing, there were a lot of identity crises involved.

What are these feelings?”

“Are they even mine?”

“Am I in love with a salmon or is it just Techno?”

They eventually got used to it, though, kinda.

It was pretty easy to tell in Techno’s situation at the moment, considering he had already finished his paper a few minutes ago. There was no reason for him to feel the overwhelming fear he was feeling right now.

He rests his head on the table, using his arms as a pillow. The position gave him a good view of the classroom, and most importantly, a good view of Wilbur.

The boy was sweating—hard. It almost seemed as if he wanted to cry, with a visibly red face and his hand pulling on his hair.

It didn’t take the ability to feel the other’s emotion to know—that this was the face of a man who forgot there was a test, and didn’t study ape shit.

Technoblade sighed.

It was a good thing he came prepared.

The whole thing would've been a lot more easy if they were born with telepathic abilities instead of… whatever the fuck sort of connection they have right now, but they make do with what they have.

You can't exactly manipulate yourself into feeling a certain way, but anger was easy to fire.

So Techno thought of the one thing that made him incredibly angry:

Phil packing him the chocolate bread instead of the cheese bread for lunch today.

It was infuriating, that old man knows for a fact that Technoblade prefers cheese over anything, and yet he still had the audacity to put the last cheese bread on Tommy's lunch box instead of his?! Despicable

The image of Tommy's smug face that morning was enough for Techno to break the pencil he was holding in half.

Wilbur raised his head, eyes wide with realization of a new feeling inside him.

Techno's rage must've reached him well.

Wilbur inconspicuously nods his head, with his sight on the gap where he could see the floor beneath him, and Techno knows that was the cue to go.

They were lucky today's test was a multiple choice, because Techno could just write the answers on the wooden body of the broken pencil with no problem.

He took a peek to the front of the room. The teacher was looking at their nails in boredom. It was a good style, he should ask them where they got it done later when the whole thing is over.

Techno pushed the pencil off the table, dropping it on the floor, and gaining him the attention of the teacher. he sheepishly smiled at them, before bending down to grab it.

It was when the teacher went back to look at their nails again that Techno aimed at Wilbur's table, kicked one half of the pencil to his direction, and grabbed the other half to put back on his table.

Wilbur coughed, hiding the sound of the rolling pencil. He expertly wiggles his foot out of his shoe, catching the pencil under his step, and discreetly lifting it up with the pencil snug between his socked toes.

Wilbur smiled, and Techno could feel the dread inside him disappearing as he closed his eyes to savor the last few minutes of class.

It was a week later when the teacher came back with the results.

Techno stared at his paper. On the right corner was the number 94 written in bold red ink, matching his newly painted nails.

"You know, you got the same score as Wilbur," The teacher smiled, amused. "Even down to the same rights and wrongs."

Technoblade smirks, putting the paper inside his folder.

"It's just a twin thing."
