Chapter Text
“You look so pretty in that yellow jumper! Aren’t you the most adorable baby?” Junkyu cooed at a wide-eyed Doyoung, who laid snuggly against his chest.
Mashiho and Junkyu were on their way to the Choi household, being extra mindful because it was the first time they were taking Doyoung out since they had come back from the hospital. They were finally going to introduce the new member of their family to their closest friends, and their one-year-old son who just happened to be Doyoung’s soulmate.
Junkyu wanted to laugh, his son was meeting his soulmate 15 days after being born! He wouldn’t even remember the moment because of his young age, meanwhile it took him 18 years to meet Mashiho! Even at his older age Junkyu still had quarrels with destiny from time to time…
They had agreed not to doodle on their skin since the red heart incident, both families being too scared of accidentally bringing bad luck into their children’s fate. But it was obvious they were meant to be, especially whenever one of them caught a glimpse of metallic blue ink on Doyoung’s skin, knowing well that was the color and texture of Choi Yedam’s most priced marker (Junkyu recalled that one time he visited his best friend’s house just to be welcomed by 10-month-old Yedam messily doodling on the living room’s walls. The aftermath hadn’t been pretty.)
It was nerve wracking and they often felt like they were walking over soft ice. Nevertheless, they worked through it and went with what felt right. After all, Doyoung and Yedam being soulmates was destiny’s work.
“We’re here” Mashiho stopped the car and got out to grab Doyoung’s diaper bag while Junkyu shuffled the newborn, securing his hold as he got out of the car and made his way to the front door.
Pressing the doorbell, they waited patiently for one of their friends to welcome them into their home.
“Hey!” It was Hyunsuk who opened the door, smiling at them before turning his attention to the little bundle in Junkyu’s arms “oh my god he’s so cute! Come in!”
Stepping into the living room, they were met with the unmistakable smell of Jihoon’s cooking.
“We brought dessert!” Mashiho placed the box he had been holding on the table before settling next to his soulmate in the couch.
It wasn’t long until Jihoon appeared, wearing an apron and holding a toddler on his arms.
“Hi!” He greeted “Yedam-ah say hi to Junkyu and Mashiho!”
“H-hello” The 1-year-old babbled in between his fingers
“And say hi to Doyoungie! You were so excited to meet him, weren’t you?” Jihoon sat his son down next to Junkyu, who was still holding the newborn.
“Hi Yedamie, you want to say hi to Doyoung?” Junkyu shifted the blanket that was covering Doyoung’s cheek so the toddler could take a better look at him
“Woahh! A baby!!” Yedam gasped at Doyoung, turning around to look at his parents, who were standing up with a polaroid on their hands.
“Show us a big smile Yedam! let’s get this moment on camera” Hyunsuk said, smiling proudly at his son
It was a precious moment and both couples couldn’t help cooing at it. Without notice, a flash captured the moment, making Doyoung whine and cry in Junkyu’s arms.
“Ah… Doyoung-ah don´t cry…” He stood up and started rocking the baby, passing it over to Mashiho when he saw no result.
“Dad- w-why baby crying? Yedam’s voice wobbled and Jihoon was by his side in an instant. “My fault?”
“No Yedam! Doyoung is just a bit fuzzy about the camera flash, it’s not your fault!” He embraced his son as Doyoung’s wails came to an end “You guys are going to be the bestest friends, I promise!”
