Work Text:
It started with a stupid game.
Yuta asks, "So which one of them would you fuck?" Like his boyfriend isn't one of them he was referring to, though Taeyong guesses it's because Yuta is already half drunk.
Taeyong isn't one to get around but it is an innocent enough question, no harm whatsoever, even though he knows deep down that it isn't morally right to choose amongst his own friends. But it's for fun, right? They're drinking and it is a good night. For all he knows, those guys might have done the same.
Yuta is referring to the other half of their friend group sitting in the other lounge area, since they didn't have any more space in this one to fit them all. Jaehyun sits laughing with Johnny, Kun Yukhei and Mark, each of them going hysterical with whatever joke that's passing around. Taeyong himself is seated with Yuta, Doyoung, Ten and Jungwoo, finishing their possibly third round of shots. He's buzzed and warm, his skin tingling.
The question makes the entire table suddenly focused but Taeyong sees Yuta eyeing each one of them, as if it's a test. It probably is or isn't, he can't really tell. He's having a hard time trying to choose with one of them he'd actually let warm his bed. He giggles. Warm his bed, he thinks. Who says that anymore?
He would probably screw Johnny, if they weren't best friends since they were five and if Johnny isn't currently in an almost serious relationship with Yukhei. He was never attracted to Jaehyun, and even if he was, Jaehyun and Yuta had been together since high school. Yukhei is off-limits, so that would leave Kun and Mark. Taeyong hums. Kun is like his brother.
So, Mark.
"Jaehyun," Doyoung blurts out.
Taeyong whips his head a little too fast, his head spinning and he winces as he holds his head in his hands. Still, he averts his gaze to Yuta to see his reaction. There's a tick in his jaw but he keeps his smile. Maybe Taeyong would think more of it next time, but right now he's too tipsy to think anything.
"S'not fair," Jungwoo complains, nibbling at his straw. "Half of them are taken. Kun-hyung is hot so maybe... But honestly I'd fuck Yukhei if he wasn't actively sucking Johnny's dick."
Ten hums, "I'd fuck Johnny but the man has no taste. He hates everything I like. And now he's fucking my brother."
This makes Taeyong giggle again, shaking his head. "Yukhei is not your brother, really."
"He is, though," Ten argues. "We've been fostered by the same parents. That makes him my brother."
"Jaehyun, you said?" Yuta says now, diverting the topic to Doyoung. "I didn't know you had hots for him?"
Doyoung flushes a deep red but he waves it off. "It's all hypothetical, right? You asked and I was honest."
Yuta clenches his jaw but he doesn't get to speak because Jungwoo butts in, "What about you, Taeyong?"
Heat spreads at his cheeks. He blames it half on the alcohol and half on the way his friends are staring at him. He clears his throat and lifts his gaze just in time as Mark turns his head and catches his eyes. Mark smiles and Taeyong's grin is immediate.
"Mark."
It feels a little like a movie scene. His answer seems to be surprising to the rest of them, because Ten is raising his perfect brow up at him and Jungwoo gawks. Taeyong flushes and for some reason, he looks back at Mark, who has a red cup raised to his lips, but their eyes meet again. His alcohol tainted brain finds it rather sexy but when did Mark become sexy?
Taeyong nearly chokes on his own spit and then the moment is over. Mark puts down his cup and throws his head back as he laughs at something Johnny said. Taeyong swallows and looks away. It's a fever dream and tomorrow he'll wake up.
Except when he gets home and falls asleep in his bed, Taeyong dreams of hands all over his body, of warm kisses on his neck and familiar feline eyes. He wakes up humping his own pillow, shame and arousal heating up his body, so much he had to get off his bed and get under the cold water.
Even then, when his eyes close, he sees Mark, and he knows he's screwed.
In the following days and weeks after that night, Mark seems to be everywhere. He's at the house hanging with Johnny and Yuta, or at the cafe where Taeyong works, working over projects with Jungwoo. Taeyong could hear him laugh from the other room, for fuck's sake, and the funny thing is that it isn't anything different. Mark has always been around them.
Taeyong's just started to be aware of his presence. Too aware.
He's started to notice when Mark's hand would innocently brush over his back when he reaches over to grab a pen, or when he would lean in too close trying to show Taeyong a video on his phone. He's warm and smells like the watermelon shampoo he uses and keeps a spare in the shared bathroom for when he sleeps over. And god, Taeyong shouldn't notice all of this.
But he does. He's too aware of all of this, too aware of Mark's lively, laughing self and the way his fingers linger a little too long on his arm, his thigh, his back. Taeyong blames it on the dream he had that night; what started out as a memory of a faceless stranger slowly piecing together to form Mark's face.
Taeyong knows he's screwed when he starts using the memory to get off, muffling moans into his pillow when he fucks himself with one of his toys so Johnny or Yuta, his roommates, wouldn't hear him. And all he sees when he stains his sheets is Mark.
Mark, Mark, Mark.
He's fucking everywhere; in his sleep and his wake, at work and then at home. He would find Mark even at parties he wasn't invited to because either Johnny or Yuta would ask him to come and Mark never says no. It's borderline frustrating because Taeyong can't really stop his mind from straying whenever he sees Mark and it doesn't help that Mark is always there.
"You look like you wanna eat him," Johnny says before he downs the remaining soda he has in that cup he's been holding, an amused smile on his lips and for once he isn't drinking at a party.
Taeyong looks away from where Mark and Yuta are doing shots, changing the subject. "You're not drinking?"
"No," Johnny mutters grimly. "It's my turn to get everyone home tonight. And Yukhei's coming over to hang out later so I don't wanna be drunk."
Taeyong makes a face, "You guys need the apartment? If Yuta's crashing at Jaehyun's, I do not wanna be alone with you two."
"Why? We're decent!" Johnny rolls his eyes and when he looks back at their group of friends, he turns back to Taeyong with a teasing look. "You wanna fuck Mark, don't you?"
The drink Taeyong had been sipping on never made it down his throat when he chokes, cheeks flaming and eyes widened. "What the fuck? What are you talking about?"
Johnny looks at him as if he's stupid, "Dude, everyone knows. Jungwoo told us when you were passed out that you said you'd fuck Mark if you had to choose. I'm a little offended you didn't choose me. I thought we're bros."
Fucking Jungwoo. But what did Taeyong expect? Every pair of ears that heard him that night belonged to people who don't know how to keep their secrets. "That's exactly why I didn't choose you. Plus, you're with Yukhei and everything. Feels weird to say I'd fuck you."
"That's fair," Johnny nods. "So what are you going to do about it?"
"Nothing?"
Johnny frowns at him, "You can't be serious."
"What am I supposed to do?" Taeyong asks, incredulous. "What, should I just go up there and tell him we should fuck?"
"Why not?" Johnny raises a brow, and when Taeyong glares at him, he rolls his eyes. "Look, it's not as weird as you're making it out to be. You guys aren't best friends so there's nothing to worry about. Plus, he knows you'd fuck him and it's Mark. Who wouldn't wanna sleep with you anyway?"
Taeyong swears he must have heard that wrong, because for some reason his brain refused to register the fact that when Johnny said everyone knows, that included Mark too. "What did you just say?"
"Who wouldn't wanna sleep with you?"
"No!" Taeyong huffs, panicking. "You said Mark knows?"
Johnny looks at him with a bored expression. "I said everyone. "
Fuck. "Fuck."
He pieces it together then, slower than he should have but still. All those times Mark touched him and made it seem innocent, had it all happened because he wanted Taeyong to act on what he said that night? It was a stupid question! And while he knows it wasn't just a question with a hypothetical answer because he'd spent nights thinking about Mark, he didn't think Mark would actually want it to happen. Shit, shit, shit.
Mark wants it to happen.
Taeyong doesn't know if he should be thrilled or nervous about this information. On the one hand, obviously he would get to live the dirty fantasies he's had over the last few weeks, but on the other? Johnny is right that they aren't the best of friends but Mark is still his friend and Taeyong doesn't want to ruin it.
"I can literally hear your brain gear working right now."
"Shut up, Johnny."
Johnny laughs, "Taeyong, I've known you my entire life. When's the last time you got laid? Back when you were dating asshole- whatever his name was? He's old news. And no, I know your pretty overthinking head is worried about ruining friendship, blah, blah. You won't. What's the worst that could happen?"
"Um," Taeyong laughs nervously, "I could accidentally break his heart? He's gonna be sad and he'll tell everyone about it and everyone will start to hate me. And you're gonna tell me it's okay because you could never hate me but then Yukhei starts to realize that he pities Mark so he's going to side with Mark, like everyone else already is. Naturally when Yukhei decides Mark deserves his pity he'll make you choose. And then you'll realize what a shit friend I've been and then I'd lose you too."
Silence. Johnny stares at him; not the way people do when they realize he's fucked up but the way Johnny usually does, listening for the moment Taeyong's running thoughts would take a pause. This is why they're friends and have been for so long.
"Okay," Johnny clears his throat. "Valid thoughts. But that's you overthinking it, Yong. I can only promise you that nothing can make me hate you, ever, but right now everything is fine. I'm just saying that you're not the only one who's been thinking about it. Mark's not as subtle as you."
With that, Johnny raises a hand to ruffle up Taeyong's hair before he walks off to join the rest of their friends, leaving Taeyong thinking too much again.
So much so that he ended up crashing over at Kun and Ten's apartment, just to avoid Johnny and Yukhei's private time, instead of where he actually wants to be; in bed with Mark.
It goes on for another two weeks or so, not that Taeyong's counting, and he only realized he hasn't had any real conversation with Mark until the younger plops down onto the couch next to him on one of Taeyong's off days while he scrolls through the channels on TV, heart pounding against his chest.
Mark's rarely over at their apartment when Johnny isn't around and Johnny isn't around now, but here is Mark, sitting next to Taeyong, leg bouncing on the ball of his feet. He seems nervous, maybe as nervous as Taeyong feels, so he tries to start a conversation. It should make things better, he thinks.
"You want anything for dinner?" Taeyong asks without taking his eyes off the TV screen. "I could order something."
Mark hums, "Not hungry. Thanks, though. Do you want anything?"
"I'll probably just have instant ramen," Taeyong says, waving it off. He doesn't think he could eat when he's this nervous. Why is he nervous again?
They fall silent for another minute or two. Taeyong doesn't turn to look at Mark's face, too afraid that he might do something stupid, so he keeps his eyes on the screen, wishing one of his roommates would come home but knowing that Johnny is at work and won't be home til tomorrow since he'd planned to crash at Yukhei's and Yuta practically sleeps at Jaehyun's now.
Realization hits him like a ton of falling bricks. Johnny and Yuta won't be home, so that means he's alone. Had Mark known this and came over anyway? Did he come with intentions?
"I can hear you thinking, hyung."
Right, because Taeyong is just incapable of staying silent without letting his thoughts stray. He grimaces, sighing as he leans back. "I'm just embarrassed. I feel inappropriate right now."
"Why?"
Taeyong finally turns to look at Mark, who's staring at him with an eyebrow raised in question. Is he really making Taeyong explain? "About- You know? The whole thing."
Mark clicks his tongue, nodding. "The whole avoiding me for the past few weeks thing or that thing where you told everyone you'd fuck me?"
His cheeks burn. Has he really been avoiding Mark? He hadn't noticed that except for the fact that he had noticed Mark everywhere. "I wasn't avoiding you. Oh god, I'm sorry if I made you feel that way. I was just- It was a lot, okay? I feel bad for thinking of you like that."
This brings a smile to Mark's lips and he leans forward, elbows on his knees with his head turned towards Taeyong. "So you've been thinking of me like that, huh?"
Kill me now, Taeyong thinks silently. He offers an innocent smile before reaching out to playfully shove Mark's face away. "Stop that. It's not funny."
"I'm not laughing." Mark says before he proceeds to laugh. "Okay, okay. It's not funny. But it's cute. I'm actually honored."
Taeyong rolls his eyes but he doesn't know how to go from here. Do they agree that at some point they might sleep together? Do they make a pact that it isn't going to be anything more than just a couple of friends hooking up? Does Taeyong want that? He's never had sex with anyone he isn't currently dating, too afraid that he might catch feelings and get hurt in the process.
Mark is staring at him, amused, and he reaches out to bump the side of his index finger under Taeyong's chin. "Pretty, but you're gonna get worry lines if you think too much, hyung."
Fighting the heat spreading across his entire face, Taeyong tries to keep his cool. He's failing, though. "You want me to stop thinking?"
"I want you to relax," Mark chuckles and it's different from the usual sound of him laughing. "Everything's fine. We're okay."
For some reason, that soothes him a little. He doesn't know what he's worried about, really. Except Taeyong knows himself and the last thing he needs is him falling for Mark, which isn't far off now with the way Mark is treating him. Taeyong is weak.
"I just…" Taeyong starts, clearing his throat. This feels stupid, but necessary. "I don't think I can do it? Like I want to, so bad. I haven't stopped thinking about it. About you. I'm just scared."
Mark nods, understanding, but he's smiling still. "That's totally fine, hyung. I'm just saying it's nice to know. We're cool, yeah?"
Yeah. "Totally."
And when Mark leaves, Taeyong locks himself in his room and screams into his pillow. At least he'll wake up having cleared the situation. It won't happen, so nothing will go to ruins.
It gets worse.
He's still too aware of Mark being around them, laughing and sharing stories from his days at college. They talk more now, since he tries not to accidentally avoid Mark again. Everything is back to normal, except Taeyong catches himself thinking about Mark a little too often in a day. He refuses to acknowledge that familiar, gnawing feeling in his gut he knows all too well.
No, he's not having a crush. He's especially not having a crush on Mark Lee.
It's hard to deny it when he starts getting butterflies whenever Mark compliments him. A brief brush of his fingers on his face when Mark tries to get the lash off his cheek, or the way Mark likes to bump his index finger under his chin, sometimes without even saying anything. Just a smile, and Taeyong feels nauseous from how much his heart had fluttered.
Most nights he would lay in bed and stare up at the ceiling, thinking about the way Mark had leaned in so close he could smell his cologne. And when he finally, finally, admits to himself that this is a crush, Taeyong wants to cry.
He almost does when, at another party they were invited to, he catches Mark flirting with someone else.
The night started off okay; Johnny and Yuta had convinced him to spend his day off to go to a party and he had gone willingly because all their friends would be there. He had seen Mark then, had greeted him in a hug, and then he'd sat at the bar and watched as Mark talked to some guy Taeyong doesn't recognise.
He tries not to look, he really does. He tries to listen as Yuta vents about something, but he keeps going back to Mark, relieved each time he finds him still there and not somewhere else, probably giving that lucky guy the time of his life.
"You aren't even listening," Yuta says, catching Taeyong's attention. "Stop eye-fucking Mark if you aren't gonna suck his dick, Yong."
Taeyong flushes, but he scoffs. "I did no such thing. What were you saying again?"
Yuta rolls his eyes, "I said I think Doyoung really has a thing for my boyfriend. It doesn't help me sleep at night."
"But Jaehyun only has a thing for you, right? Don't you trust him?"
"I do," Yuta murmurs, downing his third shot. "Except when I asked him, he hesitated. He fucking hesitated, Taeyong. Like, what? I asked him if he liked Doyoung and he couldn't give me an answer immediately. I feel fucking stupid."
Taeyong frowns. It's unlike Jaehyun to be unfaithful and they've both known Jaehyun for a long time. He understands the suspicion, since Jaehyun and Doyoung share an apartment, but he'd like to think that Jaehyun wouldn't treat Yuta so terribly.
"I'm sure it was just a mistake," Taeyong says, but he's distracted again when the unknown guy laughs, slapping Mark's knee like he'd heard the funniest joke. Taeyong clears his throat. "You should probably have a talk with him again."
Yuta scoffs, "Yeah, sure. Maybe when he's done fucking Doyoung, we'll talk."
"Yuta."
The younger waves it off, clearly intoxicated, and he gets off the bar stool to make his way over to where everyone else is seated, including Jaehyun, who seems to be in an animated conversation with Doyoung. Taeyong tries not to think of it and it works because he's once again back to watching Mark, who is apparently making his way towards him. Shit.
Taeyong raises his glass and offers a full on grin, a mask to hide the way his heart is pounding against his chest. "Where's your friend?"
"Hm?" Mark hums, sarcasm lacing his voice. "Oh, I had to cut the conversation short in case your eyes start burning holes through the back of his head."
Busted. Taeyong laughs nervously, "What do you mean?"
"Hyung, you're not subtle. I can feel you staring at us." Mark laughs before he clicks his tongue, leaning in close enough so only Taeyong could hear him. "You wanna get outta here?
His skin burns. It's suddenly too hot and Taeyong barely managed a stutter, "Why?"
Mark looks at him, gaze dropping to his lips before he lifts them back to meet Taeyong's. "So you can tell me why you were watching me and putting daggers through my friend's back."
Taeyong wants to kiss him, so he says yes.
They barely made it past the front door before Mark is pinning him against the wall, his mouth hot and heavy against Taeyong's as their hands fumble with their clothes. He's giddy with want and kissing Mark feels like a fever dream, one that he's awakened from when the younger starts kissing down his neck.
Taeyong moans as Mark sucks red marks into his skin but he manages to gather an impossible amount of willpower to speak again, or try to. "My room… Mark-"
There's something incredibly arousing in the way Mark says not a single word but backs Taeyong towards his room, like he's mesmerized the way there so that he could do so with his eyes closed. The door clicks when he locks it and Taeyong doesn't try to figure out how because he's horny and he's thought of this moment for so long he's almost desperate.
He's once again pinned to the wall as Mark kisses him, tongue licking into his mouth and eliciting moans past Taeyong's swelling lips. He could feel Mark's erection against his core and he couldn't help the way he whines, bucking his hips against the younger's like a pathetic little whore. When Mark grips at his hips to still him, Taeyong whimpers, but they don't stop kissing.
Taeyong doesn't notice one of Mark's hands slipping between them until he feels it sneak into his pants, fingers finding his clit and he gasps as the younger begins sliding his digits between his folds, stimulating his sensitive nub. He's already so wet from kissing alone and the skin contact made it almost too much.
"So wet, hyung," Mark whispers against his mouth, an amused smirk curling at his lips. "All that from just me kissing you?"
A whine spills past his lips, his own fingers curling around Mark's wrist in his halfhearted attempt to get Mark to stop, just so he wouldn't cum too soon. "Please…"
"Please what?" Mark torments him, loving it clearly, as he mouths along the column of Taeyong's throat while he continues to palm at Taeyong's cunt before he teases a finger inside.
"Oh, god," Taeyong gasps, his knees buckling and he holds onto the front of Mark's shirt to keep himself upright. "Please touch me. Fuck me. Anything, just please."
Mark chuckles against his skin and this time he starts pumping the single digit in and out of Taeyong's slick hole. "I am touching you, baby. You want me to fuck you, huh?"
Taeyong whimpers, nodding his head, and then Mark's hand is gone as he's moved to his bed. Mark isn't gentle, but Taeyong likes it. The way he's shoved onto the mattress makes his heart race and he gets the pleasure of watching Mark undress, naked from head to toe. He's hard and Taeyong never thought Mark would be so fucking big. His pussy throbs just at the sight.
He struggles with his clothes himself, but whilst he tries to remove his top, Mark effortlessly pulls his jeans and panties off, leaving him just as naked. The younger leans down and kisses Taeyong, softer this time, probably to make him relax but Taeyong finds it incredibly difficult with the way Mark has his cock pressed right against his cunt and then Mark moves, veiny shaft sliding between his folds, and Taeyong keens.
He's so wet, it's embarrassing. Taeyong has never been so turned on before and they've barely even done anything. How could Mark be so hot? When did he become so hot? "P-please.. Fuck."
Mark pulls back then, chuckling. "You're so hot, hyung. I got you, yeah? I'll make you feel so good."
Taeyong shudders at the promise and he moans as Mark kisses his neck, his chest, down the middle of his torso before he spreads Taeyong's legs apart and lifts them enough to expose his slick cunt. Mark doesn't waste time in putting his mouth to Taeyong's pussy, suckling at the nub and Taeyong's back arches off the mattress from how fucking good it feels.
It's so good Taeyong thinks he's losing his mind. One of his hands flies down to grasp at a lock of Mark's hair and he moans and whines as he watches the way the younger's mouth moves against his pussy, eating him out like he's his last meal. Mark eats him, and eats him, and eats him, until the lower half of his face is slick with Taeyong's wetness and his own spit, until Taeyong's thighs are quaking and he's trying to push Mark away.
The younger only keeps his legs apart, pinning them down so that each of his knees nearly touch his shoulders and then Mark uses his palm to rub over his wet pussy. He rises then, spitting on his fingers to slick up his cock before he leans back onto his haunches. He smiles at Taeyong, massaging his inner thighs.
"I'm gonna fuck you now, hyung," Mark says, easing up on Taeyong's legs so they fall naturally apart, since Mark has taken place between them.
He straightens up and his two fingers guide the bulbous tip of his cock between Taeyong's folds, pinning it down as he moves his hips, sliding his cock up and down Taeyong's slick pussy. It drives Taeyong absolutely mad, slick flowing out of him embarrassingly and he has to curl his fingers around the sheets to stop from touching himself.
When Mark finally sinks into him, Taeyong's vision blackened and he starts seeing stars. Mark's monstrous cock stretches him good, going so deep Taeyong swears he could feel him in his gut. He knows his hips are going to complain later with how long he'd kept his legs apart, especially since it's been so long since anyone fucked him, but right now he gives no fuck.
"Oh my god," Taeyong keens, legs on either side of Mark and he feels so, so full, breathing heavily as he clenches around the younger. "Feels so good, fuck.. Fuck me."
Mark reaches down to wrap both his hands around the base of Taeyong's throat and, using it as leverage, he starts fucking into him. He isn't gentle but he waits to see if Taeyong would stop him and when the older of the two simply whines, Mark doesn't hold back. He snaps his hips quickly, fucking into Taeyong's heat fast and because he's lengthy, even the quick pace is enough to send his cock jabbing into Taeyong's inner walls.
"Fuck," Mark grunts, picking up his pace and throwing his head back as his eyes roll into his skull. He doesn't slow down, thrusting harder and faster until Taeyong is squirting, spraying colorless release each time Mark pulls out and rams back in.
High-pitched moans and whines leave him as Mark returns to the steady pace of pounding into his pussy, and when he pushes in deep and keeps himself lodged within Taeyong's channel, he could feel Mark's cock pulsating inside him and it makes him delirious. He's so close again, his third orgasm tonight, but Mark doesn't move. He stays in place, even as Taeyong squirms.
Then, Mark spits onto the spot where they're connected and Taeyong shudders at the sight, crying out as soon as Mark returns to the merciless pace of his pounding. Mark's close, Taeyong could tell by the way his thrusts begin to grow sloppy. He clenches around the younger, urging his climax.
"That's it," Taeyong moans. "That's it, baby. Right there. Oh my god, that feels so good. Don't stop. Please don't stop."
Mark uses that motivation well, because his thrusts quicken, no matter how many times he accidentally slips out of Taeyong. "Fuck- Fuck, I'm gonna-"
"Inside," Taeyong breathes out, feeling bold and dangerous but mostly just aroused. "Cum inside me. Fuck."
It only takes a couple more pumps of his cock before Mark is cumming, spilling hot release into the older and he laughs when Taeyong cums again, squirting all over his cock and then shaking from the force of his orgasm.
Taeyong doesn't know how much time passed when he feels kisses on his face and when he opens his eyes, Mark's grinning down at him. "All good?"
Flushing, Taeyong nods. "Kiss me."
Mark kisses him.
Taeyong realized it probably isn't wise to be having sex with his crush when he isn't certain he would make it out of it unscathed. They don't talk about feelings, not really, but they talk. About possibly anything. Taeyong tells Mark about his day at work and that one annoying customer who's always hitting on him.
Mark tells him about his day at school and Taeyong tries to ignore their age gap. Four years aren't all that far apart, right?
They get closer. Their friends notice this but they don't ask. At parties where they hang out together, Taeyong would find himself seated next to Mark, pressed close to his side and sometimes Mark would toy with his fingers or with his hair.
Besides talking more than they had prior to that first time, they fuck. A lot.
Johnny is away most of the time these days, something about going apartment hunting with Yukhei and totally not making Taeyong sad about the idea of him moving out. Yuta's paradise is in trouble, or so he said, so he's away to crash at Jungwoo's place because Jungwoo has a dog that makes him happy.
That means Mark comes over every weekend, when he isn't tired from classes and spends the night blowing Taeyong's back out. It's all good and glorious, because they have the best sex Taeyong's ever had, and Mark holds him after each time until they fall asleep and wake up again. It's sweet.
It feels dangerously addicting and Taeyong doesn't know how he would handle it if Mark says he's bored.
Except the day never came. It's been nearly half a year of this- Whatever this is. They watch movies and get lunch and dinner together sometimes, and they talk and laugh and have amazing sex. Taeyong still wonders just what exactly they have.
He asks it, probably at the worst imaginable time, because Mark is currently balls deep inside him when he said; "Are you gonna get tired of me?"
He's pressed up against the shower wall, legs wound around Mark's waist and a hand splayed over the younger's chest. They know it's not the safest place to be having sex and the water is running but Mark has been touchy while they were trying to wash up and settle for bed, so here they are.
"What?" Mark asks, frowning, but his thrusts don't falter. He keeps Taeyong up against the wall, hips snapping into the older's. "What are you talking about?"
Taeyong whines when Mark's cock hits a sensitive spot and his mouth parts in a silent gasp as the younger fucks harder into him. He pants, letting Mark bury his face into his neck. "Don't want you to get tired of me."
Mark pulls away then, his thrusts becoming sloppy as he speaks and he uses his free hand to curl it around Taeyong's throat. "Baby, never. Never."
For some reason, that's enough to have Taeyong hurtling towards his orgasm and he shakes as Mark spills inside him. He stays there panting even as Mark releases his legs, jelly on his feet, and he would have fallen if Mark hadn't held him up. Mark kisses him; his face and his mouth and his neck and Taeyong lets the worries go. Mark would tell him if he was getting bored.
And until then, Taeyong will try not to worry.
See, as an overthinker, Taeyong can't help but think, of all possibilities in the outcome of everything he does. He worries about the day Mark would move on from him and he worries about how he would have to put on a front and pretend to be okay when they hang out with their friends and not avoid them.
It didn't occur to him, however, that Mark might actually have a different set of thoughts. Obviously, he does, but Taeyong had been so focused on his own worries that he didn't think to bring it up or ask Mark what he thinks about them.
He doesn't realize this until they're all gathered at his apartment for a movie night. He'd claimed the couch next to Mark and most of the rest are sprawled on the other couch or on the floor, with blankets and pillows and snacks and drinks ready for them to enjoy. Johnny is in the kitchen, helping Yuta grab a few more things to the front and Taeyong had curled into a ball under the blanket, snuggling Mark. Nothing feels this comfortable.
"So like, are you guys dating?" Ten asks from where he's seated with Kun on the other couch.
Taeyong freezes at this because he doesn't know what to say, so he pretends that he isn't paying attention to the conversation, keeping his eyes on Jungwoo and Doyoung, who are fighting for a pillow. Fuck, he thinks, heart pounding in his chest and he subtly burrows his face further under his hoodie, head tucked under Mark's chin.
There's a pause that feels a little too long but in reality only lasted lesser than a second. Mark didn't hesitate at all. "Yeah, we are."
Heat spreads across his cheeks and his brain is a jumbled mess of silent exclamation marks. He has to stay in his position and not kiss Mark because he'd decided pretending to be clueless was a good idea. Right now he thinks his heart is screaming.
Johnny and Yuta return and the lights dimmed. Someone plays the movie and everyone falls into a comfortable silence as they focused on the screen. Taeyong can't pay attention, too excited, too happy, and when he sneaks a glance up at Mark's face, their eyes meet. He smiles and Mark kisses into his hair.
"I didn't know we're dating," Taeyong says later on when Mark joins him outside in the balcony, when the rest of the boys are asleep and the movie is over and Taeyong thought it'd be nice to be out with the breeze. Naturally, Mark finds him.
Mark hums, wrapping his arms around Taeyong from the back and kissing his nape before he rests his chin on the older's shoulder. "Now you know."
Taeyong couldn't help the grin on his lips and he closes his eyes, taking in this quiet moment with just the two of them, even though his heart feels like it might explode with how happy he is. "You didn't even take me out on dates, though." He teases.
"Oh, dates," Mark nods, clearly sleepy with the way his eyes droop. But there's a half smile on his lips that Taeyong wants to kiss. "I thought our lunch and dinner were dates. I'm pretty sure I make up for it whenever you beg me not to stop at night."
"Oh, shut up," Taeyong elbows him gentlt, bringing a soft laugh out of the younger. "Fine, I'll accept it, but only because you're like, super amazing."
"Like, in bed?"
"Like in general," Taeyong corrects him, turning around his arms and beaming at the younger male. He brushes the tip of his nose against Mark's and they both giggle. "So, you're my boyfriend now?"
Mark frowns, "I've been your boyfriend for six months."
Taeyong rolls his eyes, "I was supposed to know that?"
"Mhm," Mark hums again, this time leaning in to press a kiss onto the sensitive spot on Taeyong's neck, where he noses after. "I thought it was pretty obvious. I practically live in your apartment now, hyung. You literally took a piss while I was brushing my teeth. Is that just a friends with benefits thing?"
Huh . Taeyong never thought of that. "Right, my bad. I was busy overthinking and getting worried you'd get tired of me."
Mark scoffs and he playfully bites at Taeyong's neck, making him giggle before he raises his hands to cup the older's cheeks. "There's no way I'd get tired of your amazing ass, baby."
Taeyong laughs and Mark mirrors him before he swallows the sound into a kiss. Taeyong feels himself melt into the him, their lips molding perfectly well and Mark's hands on his hips make him feel like he's home. He doesn't even know how to describe what he feels now but he doesn't bother to.
He doesn't need to, really. Mark is kissing him and in the moment, Taeyong feels all his worries ebb away into hopeful futures and many, many more nights of falling asleep to Mark and his sweet, sweet watermelon shampoo.
He's happy and for now, that's more than enough.
