Work Text:

Everything was spinning and she could barely stand straight. It started with just a couple of drinks and now she was wasted. Mona knew coming here was a bad idea, but it was Lumine‘s invitation and she didn‘t have the heart to refuse it. Lumine had told Mona about Beidou‘s parties, the rumor of nobody leaving sober had left quite an impression on her. So as to not leave her friend alone Mona had to come with her. As the evening went on the rumor turned out to be true and she herself expierenced the joy of getting drunk with Beidou. And it wasn‘t bad until it started to have an impact on her judgement.

Now Mona was alone. She left Lumine with Xiao, who had come to take his girlfriend home. He of course invited Mona to go with them too, but for some reason she stayed. This was probably a really unwise desicion, but it was already too late to think about it.

Sitting alone in front of a bar was lonely. There were people around, but she didn‘t know them, so the feelings of loneliness grew even more. Mona sighed as she stood up from her seat, planning to leave. At that moment the alcohol really hit her and she lost her footing. Fully prepared to slam to the floor she closed her eyes, waiting for the collision. But it never came. Instead she felt hands around her waist. Someone had caught her. As she looked up she saw a man staring at her. He immediatly helped her stand up, not lingering for too much. While standing she took a better look at him. He wasn‘t tall, and he didn‘t stand out too much. The only interesting feature of his were those dark blue eyes that reminded her of the strarry sky.

“So, are you going to thank me or just stand there like a fool? ” an annoyed voice interrupted her musings. The man‘s simple appearence hid his prude nature.

Mona rolled her eyes. “Is this the way you talk to a person you just helped out?”

“No, how could I? Do I seem such a cruel person? I only reserve that kind of behaviour to people that forget their manners. ” The man bit back. “I could of course excuse such rude etiquette if you offered me a drink or two. But I doubt you would be able to in your sorry state. ”

“Oh is this a challenge? Are you perhaps afraid that a lady like me is going to outdrink you? I would like to see you try.”

“I see you have a lot of confidence. Let‘s see if you can back it up.”

Not long after they were already seated before each other, drinking more and more. The situation wasn‘t looking good for Mona. If she was that much drunk before, then she was about too loose all her senses now. And the fact that the rude bastard was starting to look more and more alluring didn‘t ease her mind at all.

Taking another shot in, she shuddered. This was proving to be far too much for her. Any more and she would just pass out any second.

“So, what’s got you so riled up today? I didn’t think you would actually agree to this.” The man finally spoke again after taking another shot.

Mona was about to ignore him, but decided to answer. “It was nothing of importance, I just felt a tad bit lonely. But I didn’t agree to this our little contest just because of that. I don’t usually participate in things like these however I couldn't miss the opportunity to wipe off that smug grin off your face.”

As she took another shot another shudder came with it. This one more noticeable then the one before.

“You’re shuderring.” The man acknowledged. “If you drink any more, you’ll pass out. Let’s just agree that I won and stop this. Come on, I’ll call a taxi.”

“But I haven’t lost yet.”

The man clicked his tongue. “You haven’t, but I don’t want to take care of your unconscious body when you do, that would be way more troublesome.”

Mona nodded. “You’re right. I am barely holding up it would be childish to continue this any further.”

She took his extended hand and stood up, a feat that proved to be too much for her vague mind, but just like before he pulled her in. This time he was much more closer than before, she could smell the alcohol on his lips. It was so tempting that she couldn’t help herself. Moments later she felt her lips on his. It was strange but it felt right. She could sense his confusion and that scared her. What if she made the wrong move and he pushes her off. What if he makes a scene out of his anger. Her frets take over for a brief moment, but they are all washed off when he responds back. He deepens the kiss and takes over. His fingers move to her hair, entangling themselves in there. Releasing her lips he goes after her neck, leaving a purple mark on there for everyone to see. It feels good, way too good to stop, but there are people around and it would not be good if anybody noticed their acts, so he pulls away.

“No matter how much I would want to continue this, I’m afraid I have to stop. But I would like to meet you again when you're not this drunk…” He went silent for a bit and then resumed again. “…maybe somewhere more private.” He chuckled and took something out of his pocket. “This is my business card, it has my number on it, call me when you'll feel lonely once again.” He turned to leave but at the last moment the man stopped and said. “I will also call a taxi so you don’t need to worry about that.”

He leaves, without even a simple goodbye. Mona is still dazed from the events that occurred. She looks at the card that he gave her. And then she sees how much she messed up. There in the card, right above the number is a name. A name she has heard of before. „Scaramouche”. One of the top echelons of the Fatui.

It seems that fate wasn’t on her side today.
