Chapter Text
Rose was filling out her Astronomy Chart when she heard what was basically a cry of outrage on the other side of the common room.
“How do you win every time?”
“Face it, Al, you inherited your dad’s chess skills”
At this Rose snorted, because, no offense to her uncle, but he couldn’t win a game of chess even if Lily’s virtue was on the line (not that she’s had it for a while). It was then she noticed that there was something wrong in the Gryffindor Common Room.
“What the hell are you two doing here?” she asked Albus and Scorpius.
“No need to sound rude, Rose,” Scorpius admonished playfully, “Our common room’s a bit preoccupied with the orgy that the Seventh Years planned out.”
If Rose’s eyebrows could go any higher, they did.
“Scorpius,” Albus sighed, “it was a wild party, not an orgy.”
“From the looks of it, it was starting to become one! Or did you not see Cassie Zabini’s tits when she just got up and snogged you silly?”
“Yeah, thanks for that, by the way, you just reminded me I could’ve been shagging Cassie Zabini instead of being destroyed in a chess match. Why’d I even agree to go with you in the first place?!”
“I’m your best mate, your brother, sister, and cousins are here, and you were hoping to woo a different Cassie while you were here. Hey, Longbottom! Al here wants to talk to you! Go on, mate, go for it.”
Al looks hesitant, but he still gets up and walks over to Cassie Longbottom.
“Still doesn’t explain what you’re doing here.” Rose pointed out.
“Oh. Well, I would’ve gone to the Hufflepuff Common Room, but A, I don’t know how to get inside, and B, I don’t think they would take too kindly to two Slytherins slithering into their common room.”
“Rubbish!” Rose said “You know how many Hufflepuffs are dating Slytherins?”
Scorpius shakes his head, confused but intrigued.
“Put it this way: I’ve been...observing the relationships that occur within houses. When it comes to Hufflepuff, twenty-six percent of them are dating Slytherins.”
“Really?” Scorpius asked.
“Really! It beats out relationships between Hufflepuffs and Gryffindors by a percent!”
“What about Ravenclaws?”
Rose gives a small laugh, “Actually, when it comes to Ravenclaw, their percentages are always the smallest, even among themselves! For Hufflepuff, it’s fifteen percent.”
“Wow...so...how many Slytherins with Gryffindors?” Scorpius asked in a hesitant voice.
Rose looked at him blankly, as if searching for an ulterior motive for his question before she gave him the answer of “Twenty percent. On both accounts.”
”Oh,” is all he says.
It’s quiet for a few minutes, and as Rose finishes her Astronomy Chart, Scorpius asks her a question.
“Would you like to be a part of that twenty percent?”
Rose eyes him warily before asking, “What do you mean?”
“It’s a Hogsmeade Weekend this week...would you like to go with me?”
Scorpius is getting more nervous as each second passes in silence before Rose’s lips form a small smile.
“Sure.”
It was just one word, but one word was enough, because he finally did it! Rose Weasley was finally going to go on a date with him! It only took him five years, a time turner, and some “smooth” talking, but it finally happened! He went over to Al, who was snogging Cassie Longbottom soundly, and dragged him away to go back to the Slytherin Common Room.
“Dude! That’s the second time tonight you cock blocked me!”
“Like you were gonna get any with Cassie “wait-until-marriage” Longbottom.”
“I would’ve at least gotten to second base!”
“Oh please, when I pulled you off, you were on fifth base.”
“There is no fifth base!”
“Al, shut up for a minute, I have good news!”
“Rose finally said ‘yes’?”
“Rose finally said ‘yes’!”
“Good for you, mate, but I am now frustrated and in need of a good wank, so let’s just get back to the common room before we get caught for being out of bed.”
Speak of the devil, when they turned the corner, Professor Longbottom walked into them.
“Albus? Scorpius? What are you doing out this late?”
“Well sir,” Scorpius started, “the Slytherins were getting a bit too rowdy for my taste, so I dragged Albus to the Gryffindor Common Room, where I spent the first half of the visit beating Albus at Wizard’s Chess while I spent the other half talking to Rose and asking her to go to Hogsmeade with me while Albus was snogging your daughter.”
At that, Albus hit Scorpius on the arm while hissing, “Dude, what the hell?!”
Professor Longbottom just looked like someone casted a very strong Confundus Charm on him. Scorpius took this opportunity to actually do one on him, and promptly ran off, Albus not far behind.
Neville wasn’t sure what to make of that encounter, but one thing was for sure. He had to pay Harry five galleons and Ron owed him twenty galleons. He hummed to himself as he walked to his office, where he will write an ‘I told you so’ letter to Ron and a ‘I’m gonna try to not kill your son’ letter to Harry, as well as the five galleons he owed. It seemed Christmas was going to be extra loud this year.
