Chapter Text

An enthusiastic couple laminated the screen. The woman had been describing the unforgettable moments where her world bursted into color while her husband idly smiled towards the camera.

George couldn’t quite take his eyes off of the screen as he took in all of her descriptions of the colors. He often found himself watching compilations of people describing their story worlds of color, while he envied every single one.

In this world, meeting your soulmate is the only way to unlock the vision of colors. Which would most likely make someone excited for the meeting of ones soulmate, but this wasn’t exactly the case for George. He was inherently born colorblind, meaning that even if he met his soulmate, he would never know. Of course the other person would know, but it’s still pretty complicated. George could handle being colorblind, it was something he had to deal with since forever. But the fact that he could never know who his soulmate was truly bothered him.

Of course this wasn’t the most pressing matter in his life. In reality, he sat in the mediocre hotel room that he had gotten himself. He had just gotten off from a plane ride that was painfully long but he deemed worth it. It certainly wasn’t the cleanest place but fell on the cheaper side. George currently was just waiting for the time when he needed to start traveling to Dreams house. The dream team meet up was anticipated for so long, it seemed almost unreal.

George tapped the home icon to check on the time, 4:27.

The Uber that he had ordered a few minutes prior was estimated to get there at four thirty. Double tapping on the home icon, he canceled YouTube out of his queue. The whole soulmate situation often filled his thoughts but today wasn’t about that, it was about his friends.

DING

Right on schedule , the Uber was ready but George didn’t know if he was.

The ride there seemed almost like a fever dream, George couldn’t wrap his head around what was about to happen, finally meeting with them. It’s strange how he would be meeting them for the first time as if they hadn’t been close for years.
He knew both Dream and Sapnap were going to be different then over discord, so it almost felt like meeting new people. As soon as the car reached its destination, George felt his heart beat out of his chest from excitement.

He hadn’t even needed to text them before he saw the front door knob begin to turn. George jumped out of the car, awkwardly standing around for the door to open.

“George?”

Out of the house walked out a tall figure, who most definitely was dream. George could just tell.

“Hah Dream?”

George walked slowly towards him while taking in his features. Long light hair that framed a freckled face with a huge grin. It was definitely him.

“Yo, he’s here!”

Another figure walked out from inside of the house and George immediately recognized him as Sapnap. Both had looked had he imagined they would.

George pulled a tighter grip on his bag while he approached his two friends. The more they came into focus, the more he realized how attractive they both were.

“You are uglier in person.” Sapnap broke the silence first.

“Oh shut up.” George rolled his eyes.

Sapnap playfully hit George’s shoulders and flashed a grin towards him.

George smiled back before turning his attention towards Dream.

“Hey.” He noticed Dreams eyes dilating, seemingly unfocused.

“Hi, George.” Dream let out.

“Finally the DNF meetup everyone has been waiting for.” George teased while shuffling on his feet.

“Oh not this already.” Sapnap voiced annoyingly.

“Heh, so uh how was your flight?” Dream purposefully ignored the previous statements and guided George towards the front door.

“It was fine, not the worst ever. Though there were couples meeting up at the gates crying over meeting up with soulmates.” George couldn’t stop himself from mentioning that certain detail.

“You should’ve expected that, it’s not a new thing.” Sapnap gestured George into the house. He was unbothered by the whole soulmate thing.

The homes central air hit George immediately as he took the first steps inside. It presented as a regular two story house the natural light luminated the entire room. He took in his surroundings while Sapnap made himself comfortable again.

“Nice house, Dream.”

George turned back to Dream.

“Haha, I can’t tell if you’re joking or not.” Dream turned towards the stairs near the hallway. “Come, I’ll show you your room. I promise it’ll be up to your standards.” He joked.

“It better be.” George played along.

He held onto the railing as he followed Dream  up the stairs in silence.  The second floor consisted of a few rooms that he assumed one was Sapnaps.

Dream led him a few rooms down and finally picked one to walk into. It seemed larger than any guest room he had seen, on the other hand he knew Dream wouldn’t give him a tiny abode.

“It’s good enough.” He threw his bag on the guest bed and turned to face Dream.

They both fell into silence.

“It doesn’t even feel real. Any of this.” Dreams eyes studied George’s. “Meeting you and..”

“And?” George asked curiously.

Dream didn’t respond, he appeared to be distracted to George.

“I’m just glad we finally met that’s all.” He chuckled before clearing his throat.

“Sapnap and I are going to order food, we are getting you some obviously.”

“I was hungry anyways.” George smiled back at him.

“So yeah I’ll let you know when that gets here, you should get started unpacking.”

Dream gestured towards the luggage that George had brought in.

“You are going to need to help me set up the PC.” George eyed the table that was already set up in the corner of his new home.

“Oh come on, you can’t do it yourself?” Dream laughed.

“Guess not.” George shrugged.

“I’m going to go call the place, make yourself at home.” Dream waved as he escorted himself out the room.

George fell on the bed as soon as Dream shut his door behind him.

A sigh of relief left him as he finally felt relaxed for the first time since aboarding the plane. He thought back on a few minutes prior. Sapnap was the same as ever and that comforted him in a way. He could tell the banter was going to be a normal, which was good in his opinion.

Dream was a different story.

He always had a different relationship with Dream than Sapnap. A weird feeling within his stomach had now appeared when talking in real life. Especially with seeing his face while talking, it was.. different.

In any case, he shook of the thought midway through. He fiddled around with this phone for a while, mostly checking Twitter.
It was normal things, the regular fanart, people tagging him in things and fans trying to catch his attention.
George knew that none of them knew about the meetup, the three of them purposely failed to mention it to avoid the internet blowing up. They had also just wanted a moment of peace before getting bombarded with questions and requests to stream. George had also checked in on the soulmate tag on Twitter, the tag was always being updated with people finding each other and describing the new world. People really never focused on soulmates unless they had personally met their own, except for George. He was particularly interested in it.

While scrolling through for quite a while, he recieved a text from Dream informing him about the food arriving.

He saw himself back down the stairs and back to the houses dining room.

Sapnap already got to eating his food while Dream was unwrapping his.

“You guys couldn’t even wait?” George scoffed as he took a seat beside Sapnap.

“Nope” Sapnap attempted muffled out with food in his mouth.

“Should’ve walked faster.” Dream teased from across tabletop.

George began to pick out his food from the bag and slid it over to in front of him.

They had some light conversation while the three of them ate their meals. George felt comfortable with them and came to be content with the environment. The only thing that bothered him slightly was Dreams extended stares towards him. It gave the impression that he had something to say but refused to. George ignored it for the time being and mostly focused on his current conversation with Sapnap.

“Thank god we had plastic utensils, I am not in the mood to do dishes.” Sapnap sighed in relief  as he discarded the remains of his food.

“You are just lazy.” Dream chuckled as he gathered the crumbs off of the tabletop.

“Come help me set this up now, Dream.” George nudged Dream with his shoulder and began to walk towards the stairs.

“Yep.” He began to walk behind George as they approached his room.

“So am I helping you set this up or am I doing the whole thing?” Dream joked while picking the parts out of the bag.

“I meann..” George trailed off, he watched Dream from the desk.

He heard Dream giggle as he attempted to find an outlet. Dream appeared confused but was confident he could figure it out.

And after a while.

“Finally! Ha!” Dream pressed the power button on the monitor as it lit up to reveal the log in.

“Hahaha Thanks.” George leaned over the table, checking out the computer satisfied.

Dream went silent as George clicked in his information. George could feel his eyes burning a hole in the back of his head.

“Is there something you need Dream?” He turned around, slightly starling Dream.

“Oh uh haha nothing.” Dream stuttered before turning towards the door suddenly.

“Hey, just tell me. Spit it out.” George half joked, half genuine concern. Dream was off and avoiding it wasn’t going to achieve anything.

Dream stopped where he was, he went still. His face not visible to George as he was facing the door.

“Come on, Dream. I can tell something is wrong.”

Dream moved slightly and inhaled.

“Well um.”

George stayed silent anticipating him to stay more.

“George.” Dream stated the shorter’s name.

“Dream.” George replied.

A moment passed before Dream turned to make eye contact with George. His serious expression shook George a bit.

“I think- I think you are my soulmate.”
