Chapter Text
The morning sun rose slow over the city, signaling to Aizawa that his patrol was over. 'Any minute now', he thought and as he predicted, a small vibration reverberated from with in his pocket making him smile lightly behind his scarf-like capture weapon. He was rather enjoying his winter schedule. Patrol at night and then each morning like clockwork his messages always came. Messages from Bunny.
Bunny: Good morning. How was your night kitten?
Kitten. It was his long standing nickname with the ghost on the other end of the phone known as Bunny. Much like his hero name Eraserhead, it had been given to him in his youth by the other and though he would never tell a soul, except maybe Bunny, he rather liked it.
Kitten: You're right on time
Bunny: Well I'm nothing if not reliable
Aizawa knew his words to be true. They had been talking for years and he could tell Bunny anything. Though he knew he had a tendency to be blunt, the other had never seemed to judge him or put him down for it. It made talking to Bunny easy and relaxing.
Kitten: My night was quiet and boring. Heading to a meeting now
Bunny: Yeah I have one of those this morning too. I need to hurry or I might be late
Kitten: Talk to you later then
Bunny: Of course
With that Aizawa shoved his phone back in his pocket and made his way toward the large school that could be seen on a high distant hill. He didn't really see much of a point to today's meeting. Apparently they were welcoming a new teacher to the staff today. It must be someone special to call a meeting during break instead of the usual meeting before the entrance ceremony. He didn't much care. It was an inconvenience when he could be spending his morning preparing his lesson plans for the coming spring.
Soon he would be receiving a fresh group of first year brats who probably all thought they were something special. Probably thought they were ready to take on the villains of the world and join the pros. His job was to prove otherwise. He would show them quickly how woefully unprepared they are and then the real fun would start. He would beat them into shape and over the next three years, turn them into real heroes with a fighting chance.
Sadly for him that would mean a lot less time in the field and many sleepless nights of grading. In the end however it would be all worth it. They would be more prepared that he had been and that was what made teaching worth it.
As he reached the school and made his way through the halls he realized something off. Instead of a mass of teachers like he had expected, he only passed the first year teachers and it seemed select second and third years from the hero course. He partly wondered why only they had been called and then decided he didn't care. He only wanted to get this over with so he could do his planning and sleep.
"Yo Sho I saved you a seat", Yamada nearly yelled when Aizawa stepped into the office of Principal Nezu.
"I'd rather stand", he told his friend as he found a spot along the wall to lean. He could feel a headache coming on already.
"Ah it's too early. Don't make me stand Sho", the blond complained. It wasn't early for Aizawa though. It was late and he didn't want to be here for this.
With an exhausted exhale he crossed his arms over his chest to show his decision was set. "Then stay over there in your seat." He closed his eyes trying to let them rest until he heard a clink beside him. When he cracked them he could see Yamada had set a chair beside him and still held another, presumably for Nemuri, their other friend.
"Headache?" Yamada asked and Aizawa gave a light nod. "Probably because you don't have a regular schedule", he claimed.
He was wrong. Aizawa had a regular schedule and this was not on the general itinerary. Luckily it seemed most people were already here as the folding chairs and couch seats filled. Before long the small white fluff of a principal cleared his throat. They were getting started.
"As you all know, today we are here to welcome a new teacher to our ranks. If you would take a moment to look around you then you will notice however that only select staff is here today." The small mammal motioned around the room as others began to take note of his words and Aizawa hoped he would get to the point. He had places to be. "What you are about to see and hear is a strict matter of national security and I remind you that as both pro heroes and UA teachers you are to speak of this to no one outside of this room." Aizawa's attention was perhaps piqued at this point as the small thing continued, raising his paw to keep quiet the idle chatter. "Today we are welcoming the new teacher, AllMight." As he said the great hero's name a side door to he office was flung open and like a beaming ray of light, AllMight himself walked into the room, well fitting green pants and nearly too tight white tee clinging to his chiseled body.
Was this it? That was the whole secret? AllMight would be working as a teacher at UA. There was no way in hell that would remain secret. As soon as he taught his first class the students would no doubt go home star struck and bragging how they had him for a teacher. It made no sense and the smile plastered on the man's face was too annoying to describe. This was stupid.
The other teachers however didn't seem to see the same. They were all grins and gasps and awe. Aizawa wouldn't have imagined such a reaction from his colleagues. Well maybe from a few like Hizashi. He knew the blond was a big fan along with Nemuri who always talked about what a nice body the god-like man had. Personally it was too much for Aizawa. He didn't like the idea of being with someone so much larger in stature. He didn't much like the idea of being with anyone to be truthful. He liked his solitude.
"Hush now", Nezu tried to calm the small group. "AllMight working here is not the top secret matter." A glance around the room told Aizawa he wasn't the only one confused. "Perhaps you should show them now," Nezu gave a night bow to the towering man.
"Er right", said the blond and Aizawa would swear he saw that famous smile turn into a grimace before a large puff of steam rose from the man as he seemed to melt away. What was left had the whole room in a silent shock. Standing where the number one hero had been was now a skeleton of a man with sunken eyes and sharp angles. Aizawa imagined if he took a look under the oversized shirt draping off of him that he might be ab le to count each individual rib. A solitary wet cough broke him from his train of thought as he watched the man tuck his fist behind him with fresh red blood splattered upon it. "You all know me as AllMight", the skeleton spoke. "My name is Toshinori Yagi and I will be working with you from now on so please take care of me."
Take care of him was right. Was this really the hero AllMight standing before them Aizawa wondered. "What happened to you?", someone asked as if reading his mind and the blond began to explain as he pulled a handkerchief from his pocket.
A half hour later they were released to go about their day and as the others went to shake the new teacher's hand, Aizawa made his way out the door already typing his message to Bunny. Aizawa knew that his friend Bunny was a hero too and couldn't help but wonder if he knew anything about what he had learned today. It couldn't hurt to ask discretely.
Kitten: What do you know about AllMight?
As Aizawa walked down the hall from the office he couldn't believe what he heard. "You have a message", came the deep baritone voice of the number one. AllMight had actually set his own voice as his ringtone. This was going to be a long year.
