Chapter 1: A Boy and his Monkey Demon
It all started with a small six year old boy curled up in a ball as he shivered against the chilly autumn winds in an old decrepit alley way.
“S-so c-c-cold,” his teeth chattered as he tried to wrap his scratched up arms around himself even further, but it held little to no protection from the night air. “Mayb-be I should g-g-go b-back ho-ome.” He was about to stand up, but froze as he had almost forgotten why he was out here in the first place.
Smashed glass
Angered yells
Tears streaming
Blood dripping
He wordlessly slid back down against the wall and put his head in between his legs. He can’t go back home right now, not when they're still so angry. So instead here he will stay until tomorrow when his parents will once again forget the night activities and home will once again be safe. He can do this.
“Hey kid,” he froze as a deep voice spoke out. “What are you doing out here so late at night?” He slowly looked up and promptly yelled as he saw a shadow looming over him.
“Keep forgetting how easily frightened human children can be,” the shadow clicked his tongue as he then squatted down and put his hands up. “Look I’m not trying to hurt you, I just want to know why you're here so late.”
The child hesitantly peeked through his curled-up position and asked, “so you don’t want to eat me or take me away?”
“Not only would that be a waste of my time and energy, but you're too scrawny to even make a light snack,” he bluntly said.
“Oh,” he slowly began to uncurl and his eyes widened as he got a better look at the stranger and his eyes began to sparkle. The stranger had black fur with a long black tail, calm yellow eyes with a strange red marking, and he wore a soft green robe that contrasted with the bright red scarf, but what was more important was that he was a monkey! They are his favorite animal.
“You're a monkey!” He cried out in glee.
“And you're a human, tell me what I don’t know, like your name,” he calmly asked.
“I’m Qi Xiaotian, but I call myself MK,” he proudly stated.
“Nice name, I’m Macaque,” the tall monkey said as he began to notice that besides holes in both his dirty shirt and pants, there were goosebumps along the child's unnaturally scrawny arms each time the wind picked up, his eyes lingered on the marks and dried blood especially.
“Maqu?” He tried to pronounce his name, but it was a bit tricky when young and missing one of his front teeth.
“Just call me Mac,” he grinned as he took off his red scarf and wrapped it gently around the kid's neck. “I think you need this more than me right now.”
MK was startled at first by his action, but couldn’t help but sigh a pleasant relief at the new source of warmth.
“So do you have anywhere to stay for the night?” He asked once again.
The child silently shook his head.
Macaque pinched lips were the only thing that changed on his blank face. “Well how about you stay with me for the night then, I heard that it might rain later on and I doubt you would want to get sick.”
“I don’t kn-,” he froze as a loud rumbly sound emerged from his stomach, which made the black-furred monkey chuckle.
“I can make some Stir-fry if you want.”
“...can it have beef?” He asked quietly.
“It can have beef.” The monkey nodded with a small smile.
“Okay,” then he became a bit confused when Mac opened his arms wider.
“Would it be okay if I carried you, it would be a bit faster that way?”
MK looked at the open arms then at Mac’s eyes, back to the arms then gave a small nod as he walked up and grabbed his hand. He couldn’t hold back a yelp as he felt himself being picked up, but further relaxed as he felt the soft fur against his face.
“Hold tight,” was all the monkey said as he then leaped up higher than MK than he could believe and started to jump from building to building.
It was only so many years later, not now as he leaned into the warm soft black furry chest and warm arms that carry him, did he realize that this was his new beginning.
MK was awakened by the smell of something sweet in the air.
“Mmhmm, what is that,” he couldn’t help but drool as he tried to get up, but then he quickly noticed that he was in the softest bed he has ever felt. “How did I get here?” He remembered he was eating then after he finished, and it felt so weird that he actually felt full for once, and laid back nothing, his mind was entirely blank.
“You can come in when you properly wake up, don’t have to wait for me to tell you,” MK was startled by the voice coming from the other room and quickly shuffled out of bed, put on the red shirt and pants that was laid out for him, and into the room and saw that there was a steaming plate of dumplings in the middle of the table with a pot of tea.
Macaque, who he now noticed has a long black fur that he put in a ponytail, hadn't even flinched from his spot on the floor as he brought the tea to his lips, “dig in when you want, kid.”
With only a smidge of hesitation, MK quickly hobbled over to the table and began to stuff his mouth of dumplings, he then coughed as he inhaled one without chewing.
“Hey, hey easy there,” the monkey used his tail to grab him a cup of water to drink, “the food is not going anywhere.”
“Fank you!” He said with a mouth full of food despite previously choking.
“You want to keep choking, cause this is how you keep choking,” he deadpanned as he poured a cup of tea.
He swallowed this time before answering, “it’s really good!”
“Thanks kiddo, here,” he handed him the cup of steaming tea, “and be careful, it’s still hot.”
“Don’t worry I’m not a baby-OW!” He yelled and promptly stuck his tongue out to cool down.
Macaque merely raised an eyebrow.
MK, who blew on it first, then began to drink it much slower until he then scrunched up his face, “why does it taste spicy?!”
The monkey demon held back a snort as he sipped his own tea, “that’s just the way the tea can be sometimes, other times it’s sweet.”
Then silence cloaked the room once more, the only sound coming from the clinking of the cups being set down, rain pounding against the window, and the soft munches of food being chewed. MK didn’t know what to say to the strange monkey that helped him out and Macaque was just patiently waiting for the child to speak first, so it was a deadlock until after breakfast when the demon picked up all the dishes, both with hands and tail, and began to methodically clean the dishes.
“...umm,” MK began to swing his feet after a while as he twisted his hands around bandaged arms, “d-do you need some help?” He really didn’t know what to do right now, but he felt like he owed it to the monkey that gave him some food and shelter, especially with the rain outside still pouring down quite loudly.
“If you want, just grab one of the hanging rags and clean off the table,” Mac said.
“Okay!” His face brightened as he quickly got up and grabbed the gray rag and began to do said task.
After the two were finished they settled down in what MK believed was the living room, except this was nothing like his parents as this one was not only wide and spacious space filled with a very comfy couch but there was a wide transparent door that led to the patio outside and if he didn’t just have breakfast he would still believe it to be night by just how dark it was outside due to the rain.
“So MK, you want to tell me why you were out there last night,” he asked once again once the kid was comfortable, “because believe me when I say that being out there at night isn’t always a good thing.”
“Well,” the child tensed up and hunched his shoulder in on himself, “mommy and daddy were fighting again and it got loud.”
“That must have been scary,” his yellow eyes soften.
“Yeah a little,” he gave a small nod and held his bandaged arms around himself, “but then mommy threw something at daddy and it hurt me accidentally and I know that mommy didn’t mean to hurt me I know she didn’t, but it just hurts and hurts and it keeps happening and the blood was too icky and gross and-,” he felt his whole began to shake, his eyes become blurry as his hands tighten on his arms and further curled in on himself
“Hey now, it’s okay,” Macaque gently pried his fingers from his now bleeding arm and wrapped his own arms around the kid, and began to rub the child's head in comfort. “It’s okay, it’s okay now. Can you hear my heartbeat? Just listen to that okay, just breathe and listen to that.”
MK could barely hear the monkey over his own downward spiral as he struggled with listening, it took almost ten minutes before he could finally listen to the heartbeat.
Ba Dum Bum
Ba Dum Bum
Ba Dum Bum
Ba Dum Bum
“Your heartbeat sounds weird,” MK couldn’t help but blurt out. He felt the rumble of the furry chest against his cheek as Mac laughed.
“Yeah, I bet it does.”
“I’m sorry I got blood on your fur” he meekly apologized.
“Meh, it’s been through worse,” he waved it off. “I’ve had clients burn my fur before.”
“You're also really soft.”
“The fur helps.”
“Do you special soap like some girls do? Cause it smells nice like mangos!” He looked up at him.
“Yeah,” Mac shrugged his shoulder, “it helps both my fur and it smells good.”
“It does and it’s really, really fluffy,” he said as he further leaned back into said fluff and watched the rain.
Macaque stared down at the silent child and sighed as he too got comfortable as well. ‘I’ll talk more when the rain lets up and he is calmer, it wouldn’t help anyone if I try to pressure him now.’ He thought to himself as he leaned back against the couch and closed his eyes, while unconsciously still softly rubbing the child's hair.
“WHOA!!!” MK's eyes sparkled as he was greeted to a scene of a sea of pink trees peppered with green and yellow trees flooding his vision as far as his small eyes could see.
The rain had finally let up after a few hours and Macaque could tell that MK was getting a bit antsy just staying inside all day, so, after changing the bandages and applying some ointment, he decided to take him outdoors for a while.
“Where are we!” He leaned further off the railings to see if he could see the city, but it was to no avail.
“Careful now,” the black-furred demon grabbed onto the leaning child.
“I've never seen this in the city!” He ignored his words as he looked over the treetops of the vast forest.
“Well not in the city actually, but in the eastern outskirts of the city. You may know this as the Plum Blossom forest as you humans call it.”
“It is?!” He heard of this forest before, he read, or what he could read, that this forest is very, very old and that many strange things wander all in the woods.
“Yep,” he said with the ‘p’ popped.
“That is so co-do you live in a treehouse!” MK exclaimed as he once realized that the home was not situated on the ground, but rather in the branches of a very firm and very large Plum Blossom tree. Probably the largest one in the forest as this easily towered over all the trees. “This is the biggest tree I have ever seen!”
“...you know what-yeah it’s a treehouse, should just give in to the name at this point,” he grumbled that last part to himself.
“COOL!”
“Want to get a closer look at the forest?”
“Yes!” MK's entire body lit up in pure delight at the thought of getting a closer look.
“Well hop on then,” Mac said as he put his fluffy fur into a bun, turned around, and kneeled to give a kid a piggyback ride. “Don’t really think that you would be able to go down the ladder in your condition.”
“Awww,” he hanged his head.
“Don’t worry bout it too much, it barely gets used in the first place.”
“Well, why not?” He asked as he hopped onto the monkey’s back while giving a little sigh at the softness of the fur once more.
“Meh most of the time people can get up here easily without it,” he shrugged as he made sure to keep a tight grip on the kid before leaping off.
“And what about the times that people can’t?”
“Well rare as it may be, I usually hear anyone coming long before they can even make it to me, so I just go to them first.”
“You must hear really far then,” the small child said.
“You don’t know the half of it kid,” then he kneeled back down and let MK hop off him. “I would say welcome to the forest, but you already stayed the night here.”
“So many trees!” He rushed forward and past the grove of pink trees.
Mac just gave a small grin as he easily kept up with the human child as he moved from branch to branch.
What felt like hours of wandering through the trees was merely half an hour as the child stopped and began to jump up and down when he saw a tree filled with monkeys.
“More monkeys!” He raised his hand up and promptly tried to climb up the tree, only to get stopped by Macaque, who grabbed him by the scruff of his shirt.
“Easy now, you don’t want to frighten the tribe here,” he said as he put him back on the ground. “They may be peaceful, but scaring them might make them attack you.”
“Eep!” At those words, MK scurried behind the monkey demon.
Mac bit back a laugh as he raised his arm and a few small monkeys leaped out and settled all over his arm and head, “as I said, they are quite peaceful.” He held one of the smaller ones, a baby chimp in fact, out to MK by the feet.
“Are they gonna bite me?” He whispered loudly.
“Nahh, just be gentle,” the monkey demon reassured as he then settled her over his shoulders.
He hesitated for a moment before eventually reaching out and petting the monkey fur, he gave a soft grin once nothing happened. “She’s kinda cute-what-Hey!”
Said monkey then crawled out of Macaque's grip and onto MK’s arm and made her way on top of his head and proceeded to play with his hair.
“What are they doing?!” He tried to look on top of his head, but he didn’t quite have eyes on the back of his head.
“Fur picking,” he grinned as one of the older monkeys leaped down and handed him one of the infants before leaping back onto the branches and began to screech at another monkey in another tree, “they’re trying to get to know you.”
“Oh,” MK put his hands down as he then pondered as he squinted his eyes at all the monkeys, “are these monkeys demons as well?”
“Nah,” he waved one hand as the other one held onto the infant monkey clinging onto him, “just regular ‘ol Macaque.”
“Like your name!”
“Like my name.”
Eventually, the monkeys all dispersed, the one on MK’s head giving him a playful goodbye headbutt, and the infant in Mac’s arms was taken back by the mother who was sporting a mark on the side of her cheek, but her spine was full of pride. Mac decided to take the child a few trees away, sat by a few large boulders, grabbed a few plums from the trees, and took out two water bottles. The small child then proceeded to eat through the fruit as he talked about the forest and what all he saw.
“-and everything is just so pretty! Like I don’t think I've ever seen so much pink in one place before, but this is really amazing!” He swung his leg out from his spot on the rock.
“It is, isn't it,” Macaque smiled slightly then his entire demeanor changed as it became more serious, “MK, I have an important question to ask.”
“What?” He titled his head.
“Would you like to go back home?”
MK paused mid-swing and meekly said, “already?”
“Don’t you think your parents are worried about you?” He gently asked.
“...maybe,” he once again swung his leg once more, this time with a lot less enthusiasm. He remembers all the times he returns home on the nights they argue, it always ends up the same way.
“Well if you were my kid, I know I would be worried out of my mind if you were gone for the entire night.”
“You would?” He looked down at the monkey demon on the grass.
“Yeah I would,” he nodded.
“...okay.”
“Hm?”
“Okay-Yeah! I’ll go back home!” He smiled brightly at demon words of encouragement and jumped down from his rock.
The demon smiled down at him and ruffled his hair, “thatta boy and it doesn't mean that you can’t come back.”
“It doesn’t?!”
“Nope,” he shook his head as his tail swished behind him lazily, “if you ever come by the forest and call my name, I’ll come running okay.”
“You promise,” he narrowed his eyes.
“I’ll try,” he countered.
“Okay deal,” he held out his hand.
“Which hand,” he smirked as he balanced on his tail and opened both his hands and feet.
“Uhhhhh,” he tried to look them all over and was actually taking it into consideration.
“I’m just messing with you,” he chuckled as he went back on his feet and held out his hand only for MK to stop him.
“How about your tail!”
“...should I ask why?” This was admittedly a strange request, but not the strangest one he was ever asked.
“Cause it would be cool!” MK exclaimed. This was the only response he was gonna get.
“You're one strange kid,” he said amusedly as he stuck his tail into the child's hand and promptly shook it. “Now let’s sit down, we still need to finish off these plums.”
“Sir yes sir!” He dropped to the grass and crossed his legs and he began to devour the rest of the fruit leaving bits of juice dripping down his chin.
“You may be a kid, but you sure eat like a monkey,” Mac teased.
“Heyyy-I do!” He was angry at first, but being compared to a monkey isn’t so bad. “I eat like a monkey!”
The older demon saw his excited face and couldn’t help but lean back and chuckle.
“Hey! What are you laughing at?! I can totally pass off as a monkey!”
The moon was shining high in the sky as two figures, one carrying the smaller one, leaped down from the rooftop and onto the ground silently.
“This the place kid?” Macaque said as he looked at a modern house with the lawn looking like it had seen better days.
“Yep,” said MK.
“Okay,” he dropped him down on the ground and kneeled in front of him, “do you want me to walk you to the door?”
The child shook his head, “no I’ll be okay.”
“Alright, just remember that you are welcome to come back to the forest anytime, just call my name and I’ll be there,” he ruffled his hair only to be startled when MK abruptly hugged him.
“Thank you for helping me,” he said into his fur.
“Don’t need to thank me kid,” Mac wrapped his arms around him, “it’s just common sense to help out a kid you know.”
“Thank you,” he squeezed the monkey a bit tighter.
Macaque felt like his whole heart was bleeding at the small words, so he just held him a little tighter as well.
It was MK that let go first as he stood straight and ran over to the door and with one final wave he opened the door, which was a bit of a red flag, and closed it behind him as he went inside.
The six-eared demon stood on the road for a few moments more before hopping onto the rooftop across from the house, but before he could get much farther his ear twitched as he listened to whispered words and he immediately froze.
“Huh,” he noncommittally said as he then sunk into the shadows and began to slink his way back to MK’s house.
MK heard the door click behind him as he loudly announced himself, “I’m home!”
The silence was all he got back.
The child sighed softly as he took off his shoes and made his way to the living room, only to stiffen when he saw the bottle of the smelly drink in both his parent’s hands as they sat back against the couch on both sides, “I-I’m back.”
His father didn’t even react when his mother said, “oh your back, did you get dinner?”
“U-um no,” he shuffled slightly as he still had a small smile on his face.
She let out an annoyed sigh, “of course you didn’t.”
“I-I was gone all night so I didn’t know,” he started but got interrupted by his father grumbling.
“First my so-called wife doesn’t feel like cooking and now my own useless son doesn’t even have the decency to pick anything up. Damn am I hungry.”
MK shrunk into himself as his mother whirled on him in fury, “well maybe if I actually had a husband who helped me with my cleaning then maybe I would feel like cooking dinner for your fatass.”
“I work all day! What more do you want for me?!” He shot back with equal ferocity.
“How about you start to give a damn for a start! I can’t be the only one slavering my ass off for all of your ungrateful asses!”
“Oh ain’t that a fucking laugh!” And just like that the two adults began to throw out furious yells at one another as their volume increased with each insult and trembling in the background was a resigned child.
‘Why did I think that this time it would be any different,’ he morosely thought as he began to leave the room. ‘Always the same every time, but at least I have Mac now, maybe I won’t be so alone this time.’ Then he froze as he saw at the corner he noticed that his father had picked up his bottle once more and he already knew what was going to happen as he instinctively curled up into a ball, it hurt less that way.
But he didn’t feel any glass smash into him, in fact now that he thinks about it, he doesn’t even hear their yells anymore. MK slowly lifts his head from his position only to be met with a long black tail and the back of long black fluffy fur that was partially covering a dark blue robe.
His eyes widened, Macaque was here.
Macaque had seen and heard more than enough, even before the bottle of booze was thrown, he was already done with these pathetic beings that call themselves MK parents. He had to batten down the hatches on his...voices whispering to him to Let it all loose. They deserve it. People like that don’t deserve their lives. But it is nothing he hasn’t dealt with before as he instead shows the rage upon his face as he holds the bottle in his outstretched hand. “So, it would seem that the two of you have an underlying problem of not looking before you throw things. Do you realize that you almost harmed your child because of this?”
“Who the fuck are you?!” The worthless father scurried back as he pushed his wife away.
“How the fuck did you get into my house!” Screamed the insignificant mother with much fear laced into her voice.
“Neither one of those is important right now, answer my question. Do the both of you realize that you have harmed MK with both of your careless actions?!” He didn’t even try to smooth it over as he pushed them to answer.
“Demon! Demon! Stay back you foul beast!” The man’s back was against the wall.
“I knew those demons were gonna crawl into our homes and kill us all one day, I just knew it!” The woman raved wildly, “but did any of my neighbors listen? Nooo, they just think I’m just some rave lunatic stuck in old times!”
“Oh great you're not only neglective and abusive, but you're also speciest, nice,” he rolled his eyes and put down the bottle on the ground as he instead focused his attention on MK as he inspected him over. “Are you alright kid, no glass got on you right?”
“No,” he softly said. “Nothing got on me.”
“That’s good,” he was about to continue when the frightened nasally voice broke through.
“Did MK do something!? Is that why you're here?! Did you make a deal with a devil!” The mother hysterically accused her child. “For all we have done for you, you dare bring a filthy beast into my home!”
“He’s not-,” he tried to defend Mac but his father yells beat him.
“Of course nothing good would come from you, you were born a mistake and now you shall die for yours,” he tried to put a brave mask on as he looked towards the Macaque. “Demon, if any slight has come upon you from that child then let all of the consequences fall upon him. We are good people and we have done nothing-,” both heartless parents stopped in the rants as they felt an ominous force creeping up their spine as darkness enveloped the room with the only light source coming from a dim glow of dark purple emitting from right behind them.
“That’s enough,” the voice whispered in their ears behind them as a cool hand gently touched their shoulder then as soon as it was there it was gone as they opened their eyes. They didn’t even realize that they had closed them in the first place as they came face to face with the composed monkey demon glaring at the both of them.
“W-what have you done to us,” the man trembled in fear.
Macaque simply shrugged his shoulders with his arms crossed, “absolutely nothing.”
“But that just now wasn’t natural!” The woman tried to calm her nerves, but it deflated at the monkey’s dead stare.
“I didn’t see anything, but it seems that you two are obviously crazy and avoiding the issue at hand of your blatant disregard of your son and your abuse towards him,” he narrowed his eyes.
“Look we didn’t even want him!” The father admitted getting a wide look from his counterpart, “don’t fucking look at me like that woman! You know damn well as I do that the only reason that we kept MK in the first place was for tax reasons and that our neighbors were already excited to hear about your pregnancy in the first place.”
The wife didn’t refute him as she just turned her head away from him. Macaque could feel MK devastation from behind him and that answer just solidifies his next course of action.
“Well, in that case, I might as well take MK someplace much better than here,” all eyes were on him as he said that.
“What?!/Really?” Simultaneously cried out two incredulous voices and a small hopeful one, he decided to address the MK first.
“Yes really, cause after seeing this there was no way I was gonna leave you here. Is that okay?”
His eyes widened as he couldn’t help but clench onto the demon for comfort as he hesitated for the briefest of moments before nodding his head. He was tired of feeling scared all the time, he was tired of having to go out every night each time they yelled at each other, he just wanted to feel safe and warm, like Mac home.
“If you do that then that’s kidnapping,” the woman lashed out.
“Not if I inform the cops of what’s happening,” they both flinched at the thought of even going to jail. Having something like that on their record doesn’t get scratched off so easily, no matter how much you try to pay it off. “So here’s what’s gonna happen, I get the kid away from you and the two of you will sign a contract losing your rights to him, staying away from him, and keep your mouths shut about me. Is that a deal?”
The two parents looked at each other and nodded their heads, “Deal.” It’s not like they had anything to lose at this point, MK was as good as dead once he went along with that demon in their eyes, so it was a win-win to them.
“Greattt, I’ll be back tomorrow with that contract” he drawled out as he swiftly made a clone to pack all of MK meager belongings as he picked up said child into his arms, and with one final glare he said, “Also I wouldn’t suggest ever going back on your word and lying cause,” he subtly shows off his other pairs of ears as he grins maliciously with a violet tinge in his eyes, “I can hear all.” And like that he walked through the front door and leaped off into the night with a snuggled up child that still is in mute disbelief at what all just happened.
MK didn’t even realize he was sitting back on Mac couch with a blanket wrapped around him and a hot cup of tea in hand until the monkey demon spoke.
“I am so sorry kid,” he kneeled in front of him to make him eye level, “if I knew what kind of people they were I would have never even dreamed of sending you back to them.”
“It’s not your fault,” MK muttered.
“Kid-MK, I’ve lived through so many centuries and seen countless abuses throughout and I recklessly thought that things got a little too heated when they were arguing.”
“Still not your fault,” he firmly said this time.
“MK-,”
“Not your fault,” he set down his tea and wrapped his arms around Macaque's neck. “I-I was scared, people from school always say that throwing and hitting others is wrong. So when I told mommy and daddy they said they were just disciplining me, just like how they would grab me by my arm and dig their nails in my back when I get too annoying around our neighbors.”
The monkey demon had to clench his jaw as he wrapped his arms around the kid, “well I don’t have to tell you that what they did was wrong.”
“Mmhmm,” he nuzzled his cheek further into his neck.
“Okay kiddo you have a few options for you,” he detached from the hug but was still kneeling in the same position.
“Options?”
“On where you want to stay,” he slowly said. “Do you know if you have any aunts, uncles, cousins, maybe grandparents?”
MK shook his head, “no, we have a family tree project and they told me that everyone related to us is dead, so we were stuck with each other.”
“Any family friends?”
“I heard my neighbors whisper on how mom likes to ‘pat a horse's ass,’ and how dad is a maniac of a ‘color-seeking wolf.’ He innocently said, not knowing what they meant.
Macaque let out a breath of air at that as he muttered, “well that’s one word to describe them,” he spoke a little louder. “No worries though, you still have a few more options, one of them is taking you to the orphanage or, and let me clear this is your choice only, you can stay with me.”
His eyes lit up at the second option, “stay with you?”
“I mean you are a good kid and I wouldn’t mind having another person around the home,” he put his hand at the back of his neck.
“You won’t mind letting me live with you,” he said a bit louder.
“If you want to kid, I’m not gonna force you to stay in a place you don’t want to. I know I would be worried that you were a bit uncomfortable with-oh,” he stopped his little rant once MK wrapped his arms around him once more with much enthusiasm.
“Yes! Yes! Yes! Please, yes!” He outright begged him, Mac was the first place he had ever felt truly safe in and felt his stomach hurt with food being in him rather than him being hungry. And the bed was really warm too, the pillows were so soft and he never had his boo boo treated before. He couldn’t believe that there was something that could help and it was all because of Mac. He didn’t want to be separated from the first person to ever show him these amazing things! He didn’t want to leave the first person who took action against his parents. “Please.”
“You don’t have to ask me twice kid,” he grinned down at him and ruffled his head.
“So this is your room until I can fix one up for you,” Mac showed him to the room he was previously in, “it’ll probably be ready by tomorrow afternoon.”
MK rushes over to the bed and belly flops on top of it. “You don’t have to! I like this bed very much!”
“True, but I think you would like a bed more your size and you can pick out your own color sheets,” he tempted him.
“...can I be orange?”
“The most burning orange there ever was,” he nodded.
“Okay then!”
So after changing his clothes, brushing his teeth, and washing his face, he snuggled up under the blankets as Mac sat down next to him.
“Now do you want anything before you sleep, water, a book, or something?”
“Ummm can you sing me a song?” He shyly asked.
“What?” He was more than taken aback by the random request.
“Well I saw on t.v that mommies and daddies would sing their child to sleep and I heard some of my classmates say how their parents like to sing to them sometimes, so I was just-,” he stopped when the furry hand ruffled his head.
“I’m not the best singer, but I’ll try my best.”
MK brightened as he laid back down on his pillow and Mac got a bit closer to him as he began to softly sing.
‘When you wake up in the morning. When you haven't started to think, The world is out there calling open eyes to a new beginning.’ Mac will admit that he wasn’t the best at singing, he can play the Dizi just fine, but that is much different than singing.
‘A newborn sun is shining, Chasing fears from your mind. Everything will be alive. Under the sunshine's smile,’ he playfully ruffled MK hair at the last lines before it softened back into soft strokes.
‘Come out from your corner, No doubt in joining us You can decide the future, Devote your own power to this world. Come together, hand in hand together. I know you'll do. We pray and believe that tomorrow will be better.” MK sighed in content as he began to feel the edges of sleep begin to compel him the further he listened to the almost monotonous, but soothing voice.
‘We pray and believe that tomorrow will be better.’
It was late at night and the moon was shining high in the sky as it brought its light to a certain forest. Many animals and sole human asleep, but many awake as the nocturnal animals made their way about for their nightly hunt, a few daredevil humans, and a certain monkey demon planted a single seed amongst the vast forest of pink.
