Work Text:
As you slowly approached Jolyne’s room, you could feel the heavy thud of her footsteps pace within her room. Jolyne wasn’t one to lose her cool often, something that the pair of you both took pride in mostly because some things just weren’t worth the effort, but even you knew that there were boundaries and there was only so much one could endure when it came to dysfunctional families. You made sure to take a few deep breaths whilst mentally preparing yourself enough to help Jolyne with that usual calm demeanour of yours.
You lightly knocked, but still loud enough for Jolyne to hear over her own stomps. Whilst pressing an ear to the door, you could hear a heavy sigh coming from the other side before straightening up as you heard footsteps coming your way. An automatic smile seeped onto your face whilst seeing a few green strands of hair peek out through the door as she opened the door.
Jolyne halted as she saw you, leaning herself up against the doorframe with a small smirk despite fussing up a storm not long ago. “Well aren’t you just a blessing in disguise, my guardian angel sent from above has finally come along in these trying times. What brings you here?” Jolyne questioned with an eyebrow quirked, badly attempting to conceal the aggression in her voice as she came off heavily passive aggressive. She was truly too wound up to even try keeping her cool in front of you.
“I came to see you of course, duh. A little birdie told me that you were feeling really shitty and pent up, so I came in hopes to help calm you down and distract from whatever is pissing you off.” You nodded, gesturing whether it was okay to enter her room and doing so when Jolyne had sidestepped from the doorframe. “Y’know, like I always do.” A cheeky grin beamed across your face, closing the door behind you shortly after.
“Okay so it’s either that you’re just straight up a psychic, or Ermes is telling you whenever I’m in a pissy mood.” Jolyne scoffed, watching you with a hint of suspicion.
“Eye me all you want. I’ll let you figure out which one it is.” You chuckled at her behaviour, leaning your back against the door absentmindedly.
“Hmm, must be both.” Jolyne let out a snort, before letting her facial expression drop back to an annoyed one. “Anyways, that’s not even important. I’m far too pissed right now. Pissed beyond recovery.” Her exaggerated movement in crossing her arms somehow spoke louder than the words she just uttered.
“Oh? You’re telling me that not even a smoke up on the rooftop could take your mind off the problem?” You questioned.
“Nope. Neither a spliff or even tobacco could help with this foul mood.” Jolyne replied bluntly with a snarl to her lips.
You were quite shocked, a chilled out smoke sesh usually did the trick in getting not only Jolyne restored back to her laidback self, but the both of you. Now she had just completely rejected the slight thought of it. You didn’t let it get to you in the moment, as right now you needed to get to the bottom of why she was acting out like this all of a sudden.
“What about a walk? Maybe getting some fresh air might help lighten that awful mood of yours.” You suggested, your brows starting to furrow in a worrisome manner as you spoke.
“Sorry hun, but I am sure as hell not going outside today.” Jolyne scoffed, avoiding all eye contact with you whilst tapping her foot anxiously on the floor. You paid no mind to her restlessness since it was better she had resorted to tapping her foot rather than go back to her quickened pace around the room. That would make anyone’s blood pressure level raise drastically.
When seeing Jolyne in this state, you couldn’t help but be reminded of the state you could sometimes get yourself into since you had suffered from several family problems yourself. Dysfunctional families were a bitch to handle, and dealing with it for so long only ends up with long term effects, including a short temper such as Jolyne’s. When it came to being severely pissed off, you knew you could confide in Jolyne when it came to venting. As fucked up as it sounded, it was oddly comforting knowing that the pair of you were going through similar situations.
“You wouldn’t even go out for ice cream..?” You pouted in hopes that she would loosen a little at your expression.
“Hmm… nah.” Jolyne denied once again, dismissing you with a hand.
“Well what the hell man!” You sulked, throwing your arms up in the air as you pushed off from the door. “Something has you really worked up and agitated and it’s worrying the hell outta me Jolyne. You’re not one to refuse this heavily.” A deep sigh left your body as you flopped down hopelessly onto her bed. Once you sat upright against the headrest of her bed, a slight purple aura glowed around your frame, one that only Jolyne and your close friends could ever see when you were either troubled or distressed.
You caught your best friend’s eyes flickering your way, staring back at her without a single clue in why she would be looking until you noticed that her focus wasn’t only just on your face but also around you too. It must be at the aura your stand started to emit.
“Look y/n, unfortunately not even your stand could assist my rage.” Jolyne reminded you with a frown.
“Do you think that's my doing?" You huffed out a laugh before continuing, "You know that when I’m concerned I tend to just glow, okay? So instead of being an ass, just sit the fuck down and tell me why you’re so mad so I can help.” You kissed your teeth whilst patting at the spot in front of you on the bed. You didn’t mean to come off as harsh but with the way Jolyne was being so stubborn, it made it difficult to have any other option but to order her around a bit. There surely would be no shift in her mood if you were gentle mannered the entire time.
Jolyne sighed, unable to deny your efforts for any much longer. She obediently climbed onto her bed and sat down in front of you where you had patted. “Alright, I’m here.” She shrugged, an agitated tone still rang to her voice when speaking to you.
You hoped that your wince went unnoticed at her tone before continuing. “So what’s got you so heated?” You began to ask. “Was it the same ol’ parent being a dick, or did it have to do with a stand us-”
“Dad, who fucking else.” Jolyne cut you off bitterly, screwing her face up at the thought of him.
You took a moment to sigh inwardly through your nose. “Okay so another argument.... Do you mind telling me what happened? You don’t have to get into it if you don’t want to, of course, but I just feel like it’ll make your mind more clear by the end of it.” You gave her a small, reassuring smile.
Sitting there just thinking about your question seemed to have sent Jolyne into a spiral, teeth gritted whilst her brows were knitted tightly. “Asshole… It’s just the same old shit really, he’s the most apathetic person known to man. The motherfucker never takes any sort of emotion into account. It’s like he just doesn’t give a damn about my feelings yet again. Just when I thought things were getting better, he turns around and does this shit. No wonder mum left that bastard.” She spat, frustration leaking from her words as it was very evident in her voice that she was upset. You unfortunately knew all too well how it felt to be gaslit by a parent. It feels like you’re constantly feeling played but you can’t do much since at the end of the day, that’s your parent.
All of a sudden, you witnessed a string barrier form around Jolyne in an attempt to protect her from lashing out at any given moment to her surroundings, particularly her furniture in her room. “Holy shit…” You breathed as your eyes widened at her actions, letting your finger bounce off one of the strings. “If I would've known what was going on earlier, I would have sped my way down there with the intentions of teaching your deadbeat father a lesson or two.” Jolyne’s face twisted at your words in silent protest.
“Nah... nah it’s no use. Besides, I don’t want you directly associated with that fucker in any way. I don’t want him using anything more against me.” She growled, letting herself untangle from the protection barrier Stone Free had made for herself. “I’m just so pissed off that he thinks it’s okay to talk to me that way. One minute he’s telling me that he just wants what’s best for me and that I’m taking things the wrong way, which just has me realising that his way of showing affection is one of the most toxic things I’ve ever experienced! And the next, he’s breaking down our unstable relationship that was slowly starting to form once again by invalidating how I feel, you guessed it, once again. Make up your DAMN MIND! DO YOU CARE ABOUT ME OR WHAT?” Jolyne continued to rant, now panting just to prevent herself from fully breaking down as she clenched her fists into her bedsheets tightly.
“You have every single right to be mad, I know how it feels to finally think that you have some kind of functional relationship with your parent just for it to be torn down yet again, believe me. I know you’re trying to hold back but I honestly wouldn’t even be mad if you did punch a hole into your wall just to feel a little relief from it all.” You nodded, quickly regretting what you had said as you swiftly grasped onto her hands as Stone Free made an appearance, almost visibly seeing the thought process of her being appealed to the idea. “B-But I’m proud of you for holding back from temptation, and I think now is the perfect time to calm down.” You made sure to keep her eyes focused on you as your voice remained gentle but also certain. “I can tell that you’re super stressed out right now from what happened-”
“And how exactly the FUCK am I supposed to calm down, when I can’t even think straight in the first place?” Jolyne attempted to recoil her hands away from your grasp, your stand thankfully having it’s hands upon yours in order to not let her do so. “All I can think about is how I should've never let curiosity get the best of me and end up crossing paths with him in the first place.” She argued, enraged yet starting to get exhausted from everything at once as she let her stand disappear. It didn’t take long for the tears that were once threatening to fall from her eyes to suddenly overflow.
You nodded along to her words whilst she had vented, humming in response every once in a while and caressing her knee in a comforting manner to let her know that you were still right here with her, and weren’t leaving any time soon.
“Let it all out,” You rested your hands lightly on her cheeks, letting your thumbs caress her cheekbones lightly as she quietly continued to sob in your embrace. “Right now, I need you to be here in the moment with me, can you do that?” You spoke gently, trying to bring her into a calmer state since she had now started to get over how frustrating it all was.
“B-but I can’t… I just can’t.” Jolyne whined quietly, this being the first time that you had heard her so defeated. It pained you in every possible way seeing her like this, but you were also grateful for her being comfortable enough to allow you to help her at her worst. “Believe me I want to!”
Your worrisome stand aura had caught her attention after a while, making Jolyne shy away once you had let your hands fall back into your lap from her face. She tore her gaze away from you to the floor, but somehow managed to intertwine her fingers with yours as she grabbed both your hands. “O-okay, well I’ll try at least.”
“Thank you dearly, from the bottom of my heart.” You flashed an eye smile at her actions, caressing your thumb over the calloused skin on her hand. “First of all, I want you to get as comfy as possible. You definitely don’t need to wear that jacket any longer.” You let out a snort to lighten the mood a little. You had noticed that she still had it on after being out with her father for the day, probably not even realising in her outburst that she had still been wearing it.
Jolyne was about to make another objection, but you shot her a daunting look that told her otherwise. She removed her jacket hesitantly and tossed it aside somewhere at the other end of her room, looking back at you for further instruction. “Nice! Now what I want you to do, is allow yourself to rest your eyes for a bit whilst you take some deep breaths for me, and then you’re gonna shuffle back a bit into the space in between my legs whilst doing so.” You gestured for her to turn around, maintaining a reassuring tone in your voice in order to not set Jolyne off into another emotional whirlwind.
She did as she was told once she had looked you up and down momentarily, sighing deeply to herself as she was now facing the other way in between your legs. You kept instructing her to sync her deep breathing with yours until it was enough to bring her natural breathing rate to a slower and calm rhythm. Soon she leaned all the way back until the back of her head rested on your shoulder. For a brief moment, you let your hands snake around her waist as you hummed in content. Whether it be linking arms with her close friends or sneaking a cheeky hand round their waist, Jolyne had always been one for affection. It was almost as if she clung to those around her like her life depended on it. There were times where you could even feel the faint strings of Stone Free snake their way around you in an act of comfort. Although you could still feel that she was still quite shaky, her feelings of frustration had now manifested to more of a subconscious one rather than physical due to the tension starting to unravel from her body. It was time to try something that you’ve always dreamt of doing, but you knew it would only work if she was up for doing so.
“Okay Jolyne darling, are you feeling a little calmer yet?” You cooed in her ear now that she was sat upright again, you swore that you could’ve felt her shiver underneath your grasp.
“A little. I just have to try and focus on the fact that I shouldn’t let a lowlife like him get to me.” She replied, chest heaving up with exasperation. Being in your arms definitely had started to make her feel more at ease rather than be engulfed in the doom and gloom of her clouded mind.
“Good. Now I’m going to do something that has always brought me to a relaxed state, a nice ol’ neck and shoulder massage. Trust me, it’s one of the greatest feelings to unwind with when getting all those knots and tensions relieved. It makes you forget every single thought that has ever occurred before.” You shyly smiled, trying not to let the nerves get to you. “Um also, it involves your hair so… Do you mind me letting your hair down after I’ve massaged your shoulders?”
Jolyne peered at you from behind for a moment, mulling over the thought before dramatically sighing to herself. “Good fucking grief. Okay I guess you can do so, but only because it’s you.” Her playful attitude perked up in her tone once again, relieving you from the nervousness of asking her. She pinched the bridge of her nose whilst shaking her head in disbelief that she was even doing this in the first place, shuffling around for a moment to get comfortable once again.
With caution, you moved your hands so that they were now on her shoulders. You were thankful that she was wearing one of her favourite halter crop tops that uncovered her shoulders perfectly since it would’ve been even more awkward if she had to fully take off her top right after trying to calm her down. You started to use your thumbs to seek out any knots that could be causing even more tension along her shoulders, humming lightly as you applied the right amount of pressure whilst circling the tension away with each one you came across. “If I knew you were this pent up, I would’ve brought my oils… I feel kinda bad doing this without any type of aid.” You frowned to yourself.
“Just shut up and continue, it’s fine trust me.” Jolyne let out a grunt as you had found one specific knot that had been giving her grief, releasing the tension by sliding your thumbs over it a few times before you were sure it was loosened and ready to move onto the next one. “J-Jolyne… I know you told me to shut up but you don’t understand how grateful I am that you’re taking this chance to calm down with me. Everyone in our lil’ friendship group is worried after all, and a large proportion of that worry resides in me.” You smiled to yourself like a fool, not expecting the other to respond as you noticed that she had her head cowered. As you continued to massage at Jolyne's shoulder blades, you had felt a drastic improvement with how they were already feeling more flexible than ever. Her stand managed to catch your attention as it showed its thumbs to you along with a gleaming smile to go with her stance, cracking a wholehearted smile from you.
“How does that feel now? Lighter than ever?” You teased, letting Jolyne roll her shoulders around as she tested how her muscles now felt. “Wow… Hey, have you ever considered being a masseur? Because those hands of yours are way more than capable in doing so.” Jolyne smiled shyly, making your face brighten even more at her compliment. “Meh, it's nothing. I don’t even know how I do it myself really. All I know is that Ermes never fails to lose her mind over how “insanely good” I am at it whenever she asks me to relieve any sort of tension in her body.” You chuckled at the reminder, clearing your throat when it provoked no type of reaction out of Jolyne.
“But anyways, I think your shoulders are good to go. Time to loosen that neck of yours.” You smiled, still finding it weird that Jolyne was more than fine with letting you tamper with her hair. It wasn’t everyday that you were able to play around with Jojo’s hair after all.
“If you insist~” Jolyne teased whilst she awaited your touch to shift from her shoulders.
You chuckled before starting to focus on her hair, gently unravelling the braids around both buns before unplaiting them. You made sure not to tug too hard when sliding the hair ties off of her bunched hair, taking care with where you slid your fingertips before finally letting all of her hair down. Jolyne tensed at the feeling of you entangling your fingers into her hair at first, but soon got used to the soothing feel of them as she loosened up. Jolyne was usually big on affection, taking every waking opportunity to gain any type of skinship with her friends, but when it came to her hair it was a no-go zone for just about anyone. Eventually, you began to give a gentle massage to her scalp, working through her hair that was weighed with knots from not taking care of her hair as much recently. Jolyne had been leaving her hair up consecutively for a few days since she felt no need to take care of it when being in a bad mental health episode. Even with all the product though, her hair was incredibly soft and luxurious, and you were still extremely surprised that she gave in and let you touch it. You mustered the courage to ask her if she had a comb nearby, since there was nowhere you could continue without untangling the knots in her hair.
“Hey Jojo, I don’t suppose you have a comb I could borrow?” You lingered your hands in her hair as you questioned.
“You’re in luck y/n.” She reached over to her bedside table, shuffling through the draw until she found her detangler, placing it in your hand without saying another word.
Her once snappy self about the topic surprisingly remained calm about it all, though it was also probably due to you finding her whilst she was on the verge of a full mental breakdown. You thanked her before working at the knots in her hair, apologising every once in a while when accidentally tugging and making Jolyne audibly react. Though she had made sure to reassure you that it was fine every single time.
Continuing on, you massaged your thumbs in soothing circles on spots near the base of her neck while your fingers worked just above her ears; these were certain areas in particular that you had always enjoyed the feeling of and it seemed to relieve tension from your neck as well as your head without failure. You could tell it was going well since Jolyne subconsciously began to lean into your touch more as time went by, not being able to contain the grin that now spread across your face as you managed to hold back a giggle at her actions.
Jolyne hummed out of curiosity as she could see through her stand what you were up to. “Shouldn’t I be the one with the biggest smile on my face?”
You pouted at her question before replying, “I dunno… I’ve just noticed that your heart rate has completely calmed down and your anger has surely dissipated. I’m just glad I could help.” With a tap of her nose, Jolyne grunted happily to herself.
When you had finally come to a stop, Jolyne shuffled down sleepily into your lap as her head lulled to the side. Her calm breathing with her eyes fluttered shut indicated that she had fallen into a peaceful sleep. Her mouth hung open slightly with her head nestled into your leg, and her hair was now a dishevelled mess, not styled in the slightest and feathered out from your handiwork. The messy hairstyle she now adorned looked really, really cute on her.
“Oh my… so adorable.” You whispered your thoughts out loud for a moment, hands now resting either side of you. For awhile now, you've been trying to combat and ignore these feelings of falling for your best friend. It was hard trying to decipher whether you were actually in love, or if it was just the fact that you were just very appreciative of her as a best friend. “I’m so relieved to see you like this.”
As you talked to yourself, Jolyne gently shifted on your lap, making small noises in her sleep that made you chuckle lightly out loud. After awhile of being alone with your thoughts whilst Jolyne laid peacefully on your lap, you come to the realisation that you in fact have fallen in love with your best friend. Watching Jolyne in your lap left you longing for more, since if it meant basking in Jolyne's attention, then you wanted it all. Your hands made your way back to her hair as you gently petted her hair in a calming motion, smiling in content at how you had rarely seen her this laidback in awhile.
“You are one tough piece of work, y’know that? Although once you’ve allowed yourself to take a moment and step back, you can easily recognise what kind of dark mindset you've let yourself slip into whilst being able to break free from that mentality. My Jolyne I know and love is back.” You mumbled, observing how pretty her long lashes truly were whilst your hand continued to trace gentle sweeping motions over her hair.
“Your Jolyne..?” Jolyne spoke up, a sleepy smile playing on her lips as she let one of her eyes flutter open. You froze on the spot, eyes widened as you met her gaze once she slowly turned her body around and tilted her head up towards you. Uh oh… Now you were done for good, how in the hell could you play off what you had just expressed out loud there?
“Y-You weren’t asleep… Were you?” You tried to not let yourself show your flustered emotion, cursing in your head how you were unable to just leap up and run like you would have preferred to do in that moment.
“Well, I almost was… although I was still very much attentive to everything I could hear.” She answered with a sweet eye smile, almost looking unfamiliar on Jolyne’s facial features as the corner of her eyes creased with her happy expression. It was truly a rare sight you would cherish forever.
“Aw man... “ You blushed, quickly becoming even more embarrassed now that she had her full attention on you as you withdrew your hands and covered your face with them. “You weren’t supposed to h-hear that… Goddamn it…” Honestly, you just wanted nothing more than a black void to appear and engulf you into the flaming pits of wherever. First Jolyne had heard all the cringe things you had said, and now she’s hearing you stutter like a complete fool. Way to go y/n, you thought.
“Well I don’t quite know what all the fuss is about, because that’s the exact thing I’ve been waiting to hear.” Jolyne caught your gaze again from between your fingers.
“You- Huh?” You watched her as confusion consumed your facial expression, as well as your cheeks flushing a crimson as she maintained eye contact with you.
“Y/n, you are literally one of the most important people in my life. Without a doubt in my mind, I know for a fact that I can count on you when it comes to making me feel better and caring for me when I’m at my worst, and I don’t even ask you to. We relate to so much, share laughs, and do almost everything together. I swear I’ve never been happier in any moment than when I’m with you...” Jolyne now sat up from your lap, letting a hand caress your cheek carefully. “You my lovely, are the exact person I would want to have in my life for a very, very long time. I just wanted to see if you felt the same way as I do, so when I heard that you were quietly mumbling to yourself I decided to tune in… and what I had heard was more than enough to figure out.” She giggled at your expression, mouth slightly agape from shock as you tried processing everything that she had just said. You let Jolyne push your chin gently so that your mouth was no longer open. “So yeah, for the longest time I had just dismissed these strong feelings, not thinking much about it since I figured the butterflies were just normal when being with close friends… but I finally realised that writing it off as just friendly feelings was doing nothing for me in the long run. I knew deep down that this feeling was in fact genuine, and that I actually do want what we have as something more than just best friends…” As Jolyne was about to slowly retract her hand from your cheek, with her own now a dusted rose shade, you stopped her from doing so as you let your hand rest on top of hers now.
“J-Jolyne…” Still feeling very embarrassed, you fiddled with the sheets between your legs aimlessly with your free hand, the flushed colour on your face still flaring up.
“Yeah so… You’re just so loving and sweet and beautiful, I couldn’t help it.” She lightly chuckled. “You... You’re not mad at me right?”
Jolyne’s question helped snap you back into reality as you shifted your focus back onto her face, shaking your head furiously. “No, not at all! I’m just... I guess I’m in complete and utter awe over the fact that you basically spoke what has been on my mind for the past year now.” You giggled out of nerves, feeling reassured by Jolyne’s bright smile as she now cupped your face with both hands. “I’ve always found so much comfort in helping you out and I’m always wanting you to receive all the good blessings in the world… Being there to put a smile on your face when you’re down, knowing that I’m the reason why you had calmed down… I can’t help but feel warm inside every single time. As time passed by, it got harder not to notice the warm, fuzzy feeling you gave me when even just hanging out with you… You make me feel like I’m on top of the world whenever we’re together, Jolyne.” You continued to ramble on about how the feelings Jolyne expressed for you were also mutual. “And I guess the more time that we spend together, the more I tend to fall even harder for you.” You bit your lip once you were done expressing your feelings, your aura seemed to have radiated even more as you noticed Jolyne giggling at your stand blushing alongside you.
“These are all things that I love about you, and even more of course.” Jolyne let her arms relax around the back of your neck once she had let go of your face. “Your persistence with my short temper, and your willingness to help even after I’ve been a stubborn bitch to you is still a wonder with how you can put up with me to this day... but I guess that just proves once again that our feelings are stronger than just being besties. So would you mind, y’know, trying things out relationship wise? W-We don’t have to get straight into it of course.” Jolyne stumbled on her words out of awkwardness, scratching the back of her neck absentmindedly as she awaited your response.
After biting at your bottom lip for a while, you nodded your head enthusiastically whilst returning a warm smile. “I would absolutely love to try and work things out. No rush of course.” You reassured her, followed up by lacing your fingers with hers once more as you swiftly pulled her into you, hugging her tightly and hiding your face in the crook of her neck. Jolyne chuckled in response, returning the tight embrace as she enveloped you into her warmth.
“Hey, you’re supposed to be helping me relax, not the other way around.” Jolyne snorted, feeling the rapid beat of your heart against her chest.
“Well can you fucking blame me?! You just surprised me and now I’m feeling ecstatic with the fact that I wasn’t the only one falling head over heels in love over here…” You shyly tucked your face further into the crook of her neck. “Also the thought of you and I being perfect together, I just...” You paused, huffing a little at your sudden lack of words. “God, I just really love you.” You finally admitted, feeling your cheeks still radiate with heat.
Jolyne smiled, sighing in content as she was delighted to hear your words. She began to trace calming patterns on your back whilst she spoke. “Y’know what... you must have some kind of magic spell infatuated with your touch because you really did make my day better. For once I feel like my father is the last thing in the world I ever have to worry about.” She cooed whilst gently rubbing your back. “But you know what would make my day go from better to perfect?” Jolyne gently leaned you back so she could gaze upon you once more.
“Hmm? Lemme guess, rolling a blunt and going up to the rooftop to hit it whilst we discuss the many unanswered questions of life?” You grinned lazily, oblivious to her motives as you watched in anticipation.
Jolyne rolled her eyes playfully, scoffing lightly but with a slight smile to her face still. “I think it’ll be better if I just show you instead.” Jolyne leaned in hesitantly before brushing her nose with yours as she gave a short and sweet nose kiss. You chuckled softly at the feeling, murmuring a “Cutie.” against her lips. Jolyne smiled to herself before murmuring back a “Go with the flow~”. With that, Jolyne tilted her head as she leaned in for a kiss. You happily got the memo as you caressed Jolyne’s soft cheek whilst reciprocating the kiss, it being short and sweet. You felt your heart race as you felt her lean in once more, letting go of all embarrassment as you went in for longer. It shortly turned into a passionate one, smiling into the kiss knowing that you felt more ready this time. There was a hint of desperation as the two of you had not wanted to let any space get in between.
You eventually pulled back from the kiss whilst leaning your forehead with Jolyne’s. “You don’t know just how long I've been waiting for this moment.” You smiled shyly before proceeding to give her a deep, opened mouth kiss whilst you both let your hands roam aimlessly around one another’s bodies. Jolyne had her hands now resting on your waist as you both continued to return kisses tit-for-tat. She even added a little hint of tongue that you never, ever wanted her to quit doing. You gave back all you had as her kisses became hungrier and your hands greedier. After a while of making out you started to trail down to her jawline, leaving gentle kisses before peppering more along her neck whilst having your face nuzzled into the crook of her neck. Jolyne hummed in content as you nibbled every once and awhile at her skin.
Jolyne had matched your pace as she welcomed the attention you were giving her, becoming slightly overwhelmed with happiness and a strong sense of hope compared to how she felt earlier. Your hands crept their way back to her hair; it’s softness still feeling smooth as silk as you laced your fingers through her hair. Jolyne let her eyes flutter shut at the feeling of your fingers shifting through strands of her hair. Even though she had currently looked like a hot mess, you still couldn’t get over how beautiful she really was. After a while of sitting in comfortable silence and returning a few pecks here and there, the two of you finally pulled back reluctantly from each other, both of you taking the time to let your eyes roam around each other's faces with slowly growing smiles.
“Yeah, I definitely could get used to this.” You winked teasingly, giggling when she playfully smacked your arm. “Mhm.” Jolyne tapped your nose lightly. “I also feel much better now.”
“I’m glad to hear.” You nodded. “Oh, and by the way, you might be pleasantly surprised to hear this. Your hair looking all messed up makes you even more extremely cute.” You complimented, flashing her a cheeky grin.
She stared for a moment before letting the compliment sink in and fluster her, blushing as she began to laugh. “Ahh only you would think that. C’mere you!” She growled playfully, making you goofily smile as she pulled you back onto the bed with her, sending both of you into a fit of laughter as she cuddled you closely. “Thank you y/n... for everything. Not just for today, but for these past few years. You make life more bearable...” You pouted at her words, turning so that your head was now resting on her chest before replying.
“No, thank you Jolyne. You’re an incredible person, so the least I can do is make sure you’re always happy.” You gently placed a kiss to her cheek before going back to snuggling up close again.
She scoffed quietly before returning a gentle peck to your forehead, holding you close. “I love you y/n.” She whispered before drifting off into a peaceful slumber. Once she had fallen asleep, you had concentrated on the calming rhythm of Jolyne’s heartbeat whilst laying on her chest. It didn’t take long before you had also been sent off to your dreams, the pair of you both finally relaxed and stress free.
