Chapter Text
“On this week's episode of The Property sisters, TV’s favourite house flipping twins venture to Northern Ontario, in an attempt to conquer their most brutal property yet! Uninhabited for the better part of 60 years, now after purchasing this property at an unbelievably low cost, it’s up to Ririka and Kirari Momobami to bring it to the next level! Stay tuned to see if they succeed during this season of The Property Sisters!”
The camera focuses to show a car driving up a long gravel driveway and park in front of a moderately sized, white two story home, with missing shutters, shattered windows, peeling paint and multiple holes in the roof. Out of the car step two young women with identical features, and platinum hair, dressed in matching “Property Sisters” pullovers their only differentiating factor being Kirari’s trademark looped braids.
The program switches to a previously recorded segment of the twins discussing their current endeavour.
“Kirari and I heard about this property from the locals during our recent camping trip, it hasn’t been inhabited since the 1960’s but has a lot of potential, when we saw the asking price was unbelievably cheap we took one look at it and just knew we had to snatch it up” Ririka speaks first to give the viewers a brief run down before Kirari eagerly beings to give a description of the house.
“This property was truly ours for the taking, the asking price dropped severely around 8 years ago however no one seems to be quite sure as to why, it truly is quite intriguing to consider all the possible reasons-” Thankfully Ririka cut in in an attempt to keep the younger twin on track, “Rari perhaps give our viewers a description of the actual home.”
“Ah yes I merely got side tracked, now, we’re working with quite a large house actually, a two story 4 bed, 5 bath, plus a basement. After a brief inspection by a contractor there appears to be severe water damage on the upper level due to the holes in the roof, truly hideous carpeting, copious amounts of vandalism, rotting floorboards, and a strange little shed in the backyard, I am quite excited to get in there and take a look myself! Purchasing this property was quite the gamble but I can see it playing out in our favour.”
The segment cuts and the camera crew begins their journey around the property to collect various footage, leaving the twins alone on the front porch.
“Oh my, oh my, dear sister we really do seem to have our work cut out for us, the anticipation for what awaits us inside is truly exhilarating” said Kirari with a wide smirk plastered across her face, as she assessed the exterior damage, her amusement only grew. Ririka merely shook her head, a small smile on her lips, while the younger twin was much more adventurous during their builds, eager to dive headfirst into seemingly impossible projects, her sister took a more level headed approach.
Both girls, loved a good fixer upper, a house so far gone it would take countless hours, and a stroke of good luck to be successful, the older Momobami simply preferred to be more analytical, and thoroughly assess what they would be working with before getting too excited. The two differing personalities balanced eachother out, creating an interesting dynamic that the viewers enjoyed. The final results were always impressive, but it was the sisterly banter that garnered such high ratings for the “Property Sisters.” At 22 years old, fresh out of university the twins signed a contract with HGTV and never looked back, now, at 24, their show holds one of the highest viewerships on television, and this new property is going to be the focus of their third season.
“Alright, I can hardly contain myself any longer, it’s time to go, allow us to step into the great unknown dear Ririka!” and with that the two sisters made their way over the porch and unlocked the old wooden door.
