"Every other day" is a familiar phrase to Feinberg at this point. It's what he mutters to himself, wrapped in empty sheets on the nights he sleeps alone.
He reminds himself that every other day, Reign curls up in the same sheets with him, warm body and warm breath as they press together. Reign's rose-cheeked, and fidgets when he sleeps, and Feinberg wakes up to see him hogging the blankets. Playful teasing and poking causes him to roll over, and a lazy, crooked grin spreads across his face that makes Feinberg's heart skip a beat. They spend the day together, and his head is full of the sensation of being so madly in love.
"Every other day" is the arrangement they have because while it's not exactly a long distance relationship, Reign lives in a different city than Feinberg does and insists on driving to him. So Reign shows up in the nighttime, exhausted from a long drive, and they melt into each other on Feinberg's bed. They spend one day together, routine tasks suddenly far more appealing when they can laugh together when doing them, Reign playing impractical pranks when he thinks he can get away with it and Feinberg letting it happen, if it means at the end of the day he can press kisses against a soft mouth, strangely quiet given how much it usually has to say. He meets half-lidded eyes that glow amber in the sunset as they break apart, and then Reign gets back in his car and leaves.
It's only a day, but Feinberg always misses Reign's animated chatter, his exuberance and audacious energy towards approaching anything.
