Dungeons & Dragons

Summary:

All Izuku had ever wanted to do was become a hero, a hero who could defeat the Demon Lord All For One and the Prince of Decay.

Now that Bakugo had kicked Izuku off of his team, however, Izuku didn't know what to do. Bakugo wasn't allowing Izuku to tag along with him on his quest, and Izuku felt lost.

So Izuku did what any lost soul would do when they needed guidance; he went down to a pub and got absolutely wasted.

Izuku hadn't expected that this small trip, however, would end up changing his life—that he would meet someone who actually wanted to go questing with him.

Everything was going to be alright after all.

Chapter Text

“What do you mean I can’t join you?!” Izuku cried out, his eyes widening.

Kacchan, however, just sneered at him, “You’re too weak to go on the quest with the rest of us! You’ll just slow us down, you useless Deku! You’re levels below the rest of us!”

“It’s my plan though!” Izuku retaliated back, “I’m the one that came up with the quest outline, all of the goals! You can’t just take it from me! I deserve to go with you guys, I’m part of the team!”

“Sorry Midoriya,” Kirishima weakly chuckled, “but Bakubro is right. You don't have any combat training or even armor to protect yourself with. The plan you came up with is super manly, but you should probably stay behind.”

This...this was bullshit!

It was his plan!

Izuku was the one who created the quest guideline, all of the places they would need to visit in order to train themselves, to level up as a group.

However just as Izuku was about to speak up again, to continue arguing with them, Denki smiled at him awkwardly.

“You will still be part of the team, Midoriya!” Denki grinned, “just because you won’t be there for the fighting doesn’t mean you aren’t one of us! We're all a team!”

A team? Yeah, right. If he was a real team member he would be going with them on the quest. Izuku didn't want to be their little analyzer, their little nerd! He wanted to go out and defeat monsters, to take down villains! Izuku wanted to be like the great knight All Might who had almost defeated the Demon Lord All For One!

“Enough of this!” Kacchan snarled, “we have already wasted enough time as it is! We need to move and start the fucking quest!”

“Kacchan--” However Izuku was then cut off, as Kacchan growled at him loudly, explosions going off in his hands. Kacchan’s explosion magic was always the coolest thing ever.

Kacchan was technically born possessing fire magic, but he had specialized his skill into explosion magic. Fire magic was a pretty big category that had a lot of smaller skills and options within it, more specific branches of magic. Kacchan’s explosion magic was one of the more specific branches, and it was a pretty rare ability as well.

Some of the large encompassing categories of magic were fire, water, earth, air, light, dark, and time magic. Fire, water, earth, and air magic, were all pretty self-explanatory, it was just controlling the four basic elements. The other magics were more complicated. Light magic had abilities such as healing and purification while dark magic had necromancy and mind control. Time magic was one of the most confusing and befuddling groups of magic, as people possessing time magic could look into the past or future, and they were usually all very secretive about what they saw.

Snarling at him loudly, Kacchan then shoved his way past Izuku while Kirishima smiled at him apologetically.

Okay…

It looked like he really wasn't going on the quest, the quest that he had planned out. This was complete bullshit. Grumbling quietly, Izuku stormed out of the small building that Kacchan had deemed his ‘Murder Squad’s base’ and began walking down towards where the pub was at. He was exhausted. Fighting with Kacchan was always a huge ordeal and it never got easier. All Izuku wanted right now was to get absolutely wasted. He deserved it after getting the entire quest outline he created practically stolen from him.

Kacchan and Izuku had both wanted to go on a quest where they would be able to level up and become better fighters. Their end goal was to defeat the Demon Lord All For One and the Prince of Decay. Once many years ago, before Kacchan and Izuku had even been born, the world had been a peaceful and bright place. However All For One had then started to rise to power, decimating villages and killing anyone who didn’t agree with him. The powerful knight Nana Shimura had then tried to stop him, but she had been killed in the process. That’s when Nana Shimura’s protege, the knight All Might, rose up to defend her honor and avenge her. Yet in the end...the knight All Might had been defeated as well. Nobody knew what happened to him really, it was unclear whether he was alive or not.

Now the entire world was run by the Demon Lord All For One and his only heir the Prince of Decay. However that didn’t mean that people weren’t constantly fighting against the two tyrannical leaders. There were a lot of uprisings and new heroes who tried to defeat them on a usual basis. However none had been successful so far, that’s why Izuku was going to be the first!

It had been Kacchan and Izuku’s goal, their plan! They would work together as a team to liberate the world from the dark and tyrannical rule of the two dictators! With Kacchan’s undeniable strength and Izuku’s ingenuity, nothing would be able to stop them! Yet it looked like Kacchan was more than content to leave Izuku behind in the dust after Izuku had made all of the man’s plans and strategies for him. It wasn’t fair!

Pouting angrily, Izuku entered the closest pub to him and sat down at the counter for a drink. There was lots of laughter in the pub, people were dancing, flirting, and just having fun. Even though the world was in a state of chaos and decay, it would seem that their ‘rulers’ couldn’t take everything away from them. They could still get a drink and have some good-fashioned fun!

Taking out his coin pouch, Izuku bought himself a round of drinks.

He was going to be here all night.

“It’s just not fair!” Izuku sobbed, his eyes wet and his cheeks flushed a bright red, “I am the one who came up with the entire p--plan! How c--can he just leave me behind?!”

Fat tears were dripping down Izuku’s face, his hair was sweaty and ruffled, and he was hiccuping as he drank. Throwing back another shot, Izuku’s entire world tilted as he drank.

Mhmn...” Izuku hummed, his eyes hazy and half-lidded, “--not fair--stupid Kaacchan! He’s so ssselfish! Heee is a moron!”

The bartender was staring down at him pitifully, as Izuku continued to chug down alcohol as if his life depended on it.

“Ssssstupid! So stupid!” Izuku slurred, his body swaying back and forth.

The bartender, however, was about to speak up, to say something, when he abruptly froze. All the color then seemed to leave his face and he was staring at something above Izuku’s head in absolute horror and fear.

Glancing up, Izuku then saw a man dressed in all black looming over him. The man was wearing some sort of black leather armor, and he had a black cape wrapped around him as well. His hair was a light blue, his face was dry and scarred, and he had dangerous looking red eyes. However the man’s red eyes were focused right on Izuku, staring at him in disbelief as if he couldn’t believe Izuku was real or that he was seeing him with his own two eyes.

The man was just staring at Izuku as if he was the most shocking thing he had ever seen.

“What?” Izuku asked, tilting his head, “do I look ugly or ssssomething? You can tell me if I’m ugly.”

The bartender then started choking on thin air.

“No...you…” The man shook his head, clearing his thoughts, “you aren’t ugly.”

Abruptly the man grabbed a bar-stool and pulled the seat right up to where Izuku was sitting. It looked like Izuku’s mystery man in leather was going to drink with him! Humming happily, Izuku continued to slurp away dangerously at his different shots of whiskey. He knew he was already beyond drunk, but he still wasn’t satisfied yet!

However...everyone in the bar was now deadly quiet. It felt like they were all staring at him, terrified of him. Nervously Izuku glanced around at everyone that was watching him, wondering why they were all suddenly scared. Was...was something wrong--

Yet just as Izuku was about to fly into a drunken panic, everything went back to normal. People started singing again, flirting, and chatting away loudly. However they still all did look...tense. Almost as if they were afraid they would be maimed or killed if they didn’t act this way. Tilting his head confusedly, Izuku went back to drinking his alcohol.

The mystery man was just staring at him, watching him, his gaze content and happy. Izuku then sent a small smile back to the stranger, and the man’s pale face flushed red.

“D--Do you want meee to buy you a drink?” Izuku mumbled, slurring his words.

The man then quietly chuckled, his eyes amused.

“No. No, I’m quite alright.” Suddenly the man waved the bartender over, and the bartender looked like he was on the verge of passing out.

“W--What c--can I d--do for you, s--sir?” The bartender stammered, his whole body shaking.

“I would like to pay for the rest of this young man’s drinks.”

Whipping his head around, Izuku stared at the mysterious leather-covered stranger in shock.

“Y--You don’t have to dooo thaat!” Izuku cried out, his eyes kind.

“I want to though.”

Immediately the bartender scurried away like a rat, preparing Izuku a few more drinks.

Pouting angrily, Izuku weakly glared up at the stranger.

“I can b--buy my own drinksss! I don’t even know your name!”

Leaning in close, the stranger then grabbed Izuku’s hand and tilted it up to his face. Gently the man then kissed the back of Izuku’s hand as if he was made of glass.

“I’m Shigaraki. Shigaraki Tomura. There,” Shigaraki smiled, his eyes crinkling, “now we’re not strangers.”

Oh--yeah that logic checked out for Izuku’s drunken mind.

Sending a blinding smile Shigaraki’s way, Izuku started giggling softly.

“I like you! You're my new friend now! Not like stuuupid Kaaaacchan! I can’t believe he left me behind! The jerk! All of my haard work was for n--nothing!”

The bartender then quietly brought a few more drinks for Izuku.

“What were you working on?” Shigaraki questioned, curious.

“A p--plan!” Izuku grinned, “to defeat the Demon Loooord All fooor One and the Prince of Decay!”

“Oh? Is that right?” Shigaraki chucked, his eyes insanely amused, “what was your plan?”

Immediately Izuku began drunkenly ranting all of his ideas and plans to Shigaraki, sobbing and crying about his precious outline that he had poured hours into. His precious outline that was now in the grubby hands of Kacchan!

“It is a pretty interesting attack plan,” Shigaraki chimed in, “but I’m not sure if it would have been entirely effective.”

“Eh,” Izuku grunted, downing another shot, “whooo cares! Kacchan abandoned me! Now I’ll never get to seee my baby again!”

“There, there.” Shigaraki chanted comfortingly, patting Izuku on the back, “it was probably all for the best.”

Glancing up at Shigaraki, his eyes wet and his bottom lip wobbling, Izuku started sobbing even more.

“Now I’ll never get to be a hero! I’ll never get to go on a quest!”

Hiccuping loudly, Izuku downed another shot when suddenly, an idea came to his head.

“Say,” Izuku grinned, grabbing Shigaraki’s hand, “weee don’t need stuupid Kaacchan! We have each other! I can go on a quest with you! Let’s saaaave the world together!”

Shigaraki was just staring down at Izuku, his face flushed red and his eyes wide open.

“Hah,” Shigaraki choked, his cheeks darkening, “c--cool. Yes--defeating the Demon Lord All For One and...and the Prince of Decay. I’m down.”

“Yes!” Izuku cheered, immediately jumping up in the air in excitement. However Izuku had forgotten how drunk he was and immediately fell down to the floor. Sighing fondly, Shigaraki then leaned down and helped Izuku up off the ground.

“Thaaaanks.” Izuku purred, leaning into Shigaraki’s side. Immediately the man wrapped his arm around Izuku, keeping him pulled flushed against him.

“No problem.”

Suddenly Shigaraki started digging around in his cape before pulling out his coin pouch. The man then began pouring a huge amount of gold coins down for the bartender. He--Izuku had never seen this much gold before in his life, and it was just for his drinks!

“Keep the change,” Shigaraki growled, his eyes narrowing, “and I expect that nothing about any of this leaves the pub. Got it?”

The bartender then nodded weakly, his whole body shaking violently. The man looked so scared that Izuku wouldn’t be surprised if he pissed himself. However before Izuku’s dumb drunken brain could try and analyze why the man was scared, Shigaraki started leading him away.

“Let’s get a hotel for the night.”

Smiling happily, Izuku easily agreed to his new friend’s suggestion, babbling nonsense to him as they walked away together in the night.

When Izuku woke up the next morning, soft sunlight streaming across his face, he hadn’t expected to open up his eyes to see a stranger watching him. After practically leaping off the bed in surprise, apologies tumbling out of his mouth, Izuku learned that he hadn’t in fact slept with a stranger last night after getting drunk, and that he was overreacting.

According to the man, Izuku had gotten completely wasted the night before and had been making a fool of himself at the local pub. Izuku had then begged the man to go on a quest with him, and the stranger had agreed. Eventually the two of them ended up staying the night at a hotel, as the man didn’t want to leave Izuku alone while he was completely out of his head.

Izuku then learned that the kind stranger’s name was Shigaraki. Shigaraki Tomura. He also quickly learned that Shigaraki had the most intense red eyes ever, and that he had a body Izuku would die for.

Oh god--

Izuku had slept in the same bed as this man last night--

After a few more loud apologies, Shigaraki asked him if he actually wanted to go on a quest with him. Which...well...that honestly shocked Izuku. Izuku didn’t think that the man would actually accept his drunken offer seriously and actually want to go adventuring with him. Yet...Izuku couldn’t deny the fact that he desperately wanted to be a hero. He wanted to go out and see the world, to learn more about magic, to defeat villains and monsters! Izuku wanted to experience it all. So...so if Shigaraki was serious about questing with him, who was Izuku to deny him?

The two of them then made it official. Izuku and Shigaraki were going to quest and level up together. They would work together to become stronger, and at the end of it all, they would defeat the Demon Lord All For One and the Prince of Decay. It really was surprisingly that a complete stranger would agree to go questing with him, to essentially go on a suicide mission, but Izuku didn’t want to look too deeply into it. The man had been nothing but kind to him so far, and Izuku didn’t want to ruin anything by being overly suspicious and critical.

Eventually Shigaraki pointed out that Izuku’s current gear was complete crap, and that if they were going to go questing together they would need to stop by a blacksmith. So after leaving the hotel, Shigaraki led Izuku across town and to a blacksmith shop that Izuku had never gone into before. Everything...everything looked incredibly expensive though!

Gulping audibly, Izuku glanced around the shop anxiously. There...there was no way he would be able to afford anything in here, even a toothpick!

Leaning in close to Shigaraki, Izuku began tugging on the man’s sleeve, trying to get his attention. Shigaraki then leaned down and whispered into Izuku’s ear, his hot breath wafting over him.

“What is it, Izuku?” The man smirked quietly.

Blushing a bright pink, Izuku glanced away shyly, his voice just a murmur.

“I...I can't afford anything in here. Could...could we maybe look for supplies somewhere else?”

“That won’t be necessary,” Shigaraki purred, his eyes narrowing slightly, “I can just buy your gear for you.”

“N--No!” Izuku stammered, his cheeks burning, “I can’t ask that of you. You have already been so kind to me.”

Shigaraki, however, just rolled his eyes and pulled Izuku closer to him.

“It’s fine. I would rather we go out questing together wearing the best armor out there then some low tier level garbage. I don’t want you getting hurt or killed just because we decided not to invest in good gear. I have the money, I’m buying it for you.”

Grabbing Izuku’s shoulders gently, Shigaraki then began leading him to the counter where the blacksmith was awaiting their order. The man seemed to be sweating an awful lot though, and he looked incredibly panicked. Then again...it was a blacksmith shop, he was probably sweating because of the hot temperatures they had to work in!

“U--Um…” Izuku muttered, his eyes glancing everywhere except the blacksmith’s face, “I...can I please get some of your...cheaper armor please?”

“O--Of course!” The blacksmith practically shouted, immediately getting to work.

Turning around, Izuku then smiled up at Shigaraki happily, a dazzling smile stretched across his face. Shigaraki then smiled back at him softly, his cheeks a very faint pink. Since Izuku had had his back turned to Shigaraki, Izuku hadn’t seen the way the man had been glaring at the blacksmith, quietly threatening him over the counter. If the blacksmith didn't come out with the best armor for Izuku, it was game over for him.

“Here!” The blacksmith weakly stuttered, “this..this is my cheapest armor.”

Oh...oh wow…

“Are…” Izuku then bit his lip, “are you sure? This...this still looks very expensive!”

“Yup! Yes, yes, yes! This is the cheapest option I have! I bet it would look fantastic on you!”

Izuku then glanced up at Shigaraki, biting his lip softly.

“This...this still seems like a lot. Are you sure?”

“Yes,” Shigaraki sighed, stroking Izuku’s lower back, “I think it is perfect for you. I’ll buy it.”

The blacksmith then sighed loudly in relief, his shoulders slumping down.

After Shigaraki had bought Izuku the gear, immediately making him put it on, they started heading towards another hotel. Apparently Shigaraki already had a group of friends he had been traveling with before, and he wanted them to join the two of them. Shigaraki and his group had arrived in town last night, and after a few months of traveling the man had been feeling sick and tired of his friends. So he had headed down to a pub that was a little bit far away from the hotel his friends were staying at, and well--that was how he met Izuku.

“What are your friends like?” Izuku smiled softly.

Shigaraki, however, then started grimacing, his face contorting uncomfortably.

“They...they are definitely something. I will give them that.”

“Shiggy!” Shigaraki then visibly cringed, and Izuku glanced away to see a blonde girl running towards them.

“Shiggy, Shiggy, Shiggy!” The girl chanted excitedly, “Dabi burned down the hotel room by accident!”

“He did what?!”

Izuku then stared on in dumbfound silence, as the blonde girl and Shigaraki argued back and forth. Apparently one of the members of the group, Dabi, had set the hotel room they had been staying in on fire.

“Hey cutie,” Suddenly a hand reached out and grabbed Izuku’s shoulder from behind, pulling Izuku flushed up against a hard chest, “you look sweet.”

Glancing up, Izuku then saw that a man covered in dark purple scars and burnt skin was looming over him. His hair was pitch black, and his eyes were a cold bright blue.

Leering down at him, the man pulled Izuku closer, “You look adorable, shortstack. How about we ditch these two freaks and get out of--”

However the man’s next words were then cut off, as Shigaraki shoved his hand into the man’s face, smacking his cheek. Digging his nails into the man’s burnt skin, Shigaraki started openly glaring at the man.

“Back off staple-face before I make your face even more ugly than it already is.”

“Heh,” the man chuckled, “maybe then I’ll be as ugly as you.”

“Why you--”

The two of them then started growling and shoving each other around while Izuku slowly backed away. Izuku then slowly backed up right into the blonde haired girl.

“Hi there!” the girl giggled, wrapping her arms around Izuku’s waist, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Shiggy talk to someone new before! He usually just hangs out with us!”

“Oh?” Izuku awkwardly chuckled, “is...is that right?”

Shigaraki and the other man were still loudly yelling at each other.

“Yup!” The girl gushed, her cheeks flushing pink, “Shiggy is pretty anti social! I thought he hated everyone except for us! I guess I was wrong though…”

Quickly the girl then spun Izuku around so they were face-to-face.

“I’m Toga! It’s nice to meet someone as soft and squishy-faced as you!”

“Uh--thanks? I’m Izuku, Izuku Midoriya. It’s nice to meet you too!” Izuku then couldn’t help but notice the pair of sharp fangs in Toga’s mouth as the two of them introduced themselves.

“Woah!” Izuku grinned, his whole face brightening, “I have never met a vampire before! That’s so cool! Ohmygod--I have so many questions! If--if of course that’s fine with you and all--I know that some people don’t like to talk about their heritage! Just--just wow! That’s so cool!”

Toga, however, just quietly stared at Izuku, her face completely blank.

“You...you think...that I’m cool? Even...even if I’m a vampire?”

“Yeah!” Izuku gushed, his eyes bright like a million stars, “I think it’s amazing! I have never met a vampire before--and--and I have so many questions! That’s so freaking cool!”

Toga’s blank face then slowly started to warm up again, her eyes shining happily.

“Hey, Shiggy!” Toga shouted, grabbing onto Izuku’s arm, “I’m keeping him!”

“You will not!” Shigaraki shouted back, storming over to them. Shigaraki then yanked Izuku out of Toga’s vice-like grip and pulled Izuku to his chest protectively.

Glaring angrily, Shigaraki quietly threatened them all, “Izuku is off-limits. I don’t want you flirting with him or doing anything to him. He’s my new friend.”

However just as Toga was about to speak up, Shigaraki cut in, “That’s an order.”

Toga and the other man then both groaned loudly in disappointment, as if Shigaraki had ruined all of their fun.

“Izuku,” Shigaraki smiled at him softly, “these are my minio--my party members, Toga and Dabi. They...they are traveling with me on my quest to defeat the Demon Lord All For One and...and the Prince of Decay.”

“Wait a minute what--” Toga asked, tilting her head.

“How does that even work--” Dabi smirked.

However both of them were cut off with a sharp glare from Shigaraki. His eyes speaking volumes of what he would do to them if they said another word.

“Anyway,” Shigaraki growled loudly, “you are more than free to join us. You have the proper gear and everything to go questing with us now.”

“I--uh--” Izuku glanced around awkwardly, confused by their group dynamic, “yes! I...I still definitely want to go adventuring with you! I think that we can beat those two tyrants together!”

Shigaraki’s entire face then softened considerably, as Izuku confirmed that he still wanted to go with him. It seemed that the presence of his party members had ruffled his feathers a little bit, but Izuku’s sweet words had relaxed him again.

“Good,” Shigaraki hummed, his eyes hazy, “we will have a lot of fun together, Izuku.”

Turning away from Izuku, his eyes hardening again, Shigaraki glared at his other two offending party members.

“Now,” Shigaraki sighed, rubbing at the bridge of his nose, “where the hell is Spinner?”

Toga, however, just beamed brightly up at Shigaraki, bouncing up and down excitedly like a little puppy.

“He’s paying all the damages for the hotel room that Dabi set on fire! He should be out in a few minutes!” Toga smirked, her eyes half lidded.

“Why am I not surprised?” Shigaraki groaned, “the two of you created a mess, and now Spinner is taking care of it. It’s a tale as old as time.”

“I think it’s fun!” Toga smiled, standing on her tip-e-toes, “it’s a lot of fun!~”

Throwing his arm around Izuku’s shoulder, Shigaraki drew Izuku close to him. Izuku then couldn’t help but blush a faint pink, as he could feel Shigaraki’s warmth sinking into his side. The man really was handsome, fit, and just so damn confident. Shigaraki was a complete dream boat. Not to mention how kind and generous he had been to Izuku so far.

“Now then,” Shigaraki purred, and Izuku felt a shiver run down his spine, “let’s go get Spinner and go questing.”

“It should be up ahead,” Izuku mumbled to himself mindlessly as he and the rest of his party traversed across the Forest of Fire. The forest had gotten that name by housing a dragon known as Ladon who constantly set the forest aflame with his hot fiery breath. Deep within the forest away from prying mortal hands, Ladon protected an acre full of apple trees that grew golden apples.

Golden apples were considered a delicacy, known far and wide for their golden glow and heavenly taste. They also possessed an incredible healing factor, they were able to heal any wound and even save one from the brink of death. However it was difficult to get a golden apple, as they were always guarded by dragons. Dragons loved the taste of the apples and the fact that they looked like gold, one of the things they treasured most.

Overall it would be a pretty difficult first quest to take on together as a group. However getting some golden apples would be incredibly helpful for all of them going forward in the future. Sooner or later one of them would probably get hurt pretty bad, it was an adventure after all, and the apples would most likely be able to heal them. Fighting a dragon would also get them some pretty good experience.

Leaning down, Shigaraki then whispered into Izuku’s ear, “I want you to stay behind me during the fight. I know this will be your first time going on a quest or being in a big battle. I...I have experience fighting though. So I want you to stay by my side.”

Flushing a light pink, Izuku shyly glanced away from Shigaraki’s probing red gaze.

“I...I can take care of myself just fine…” Izuku muttered, biting his bottom lip.

Chuckling quietly, Shigaraki leaned in closer, “I’m sure that you can. I just want to keep you safe is all.”

Reluctantly nodding, Izuku agreed to stay right by Shigaraki’s side during the fight. Even though Izuku wanted nothing more than to fight the dragon as if he was a legendary hero, he knew he was just a beginner. He would have to be careful and let Shigaraki take control for a bit, the older man did have more experience than him after all.

Everyone else in the group also had more abilities than him. Dabi was a fire mage, Toga was a vampire, Spinner was a hybrid who was half-human half-gecko, and...and Izuku actually didn’t know what Shigaraki’s abilities were yet. He knew that the man possessed magic, but he didn’t know which kind of magic. Izuku, however, didn’t possess any kind of magic, he was barren. His mother had been proficient in earth magic, specifically plant magic, while his father had been born with fire magic and had specialized into the specific branch of dragon magic. His father had been able to breath and control fire just like a dragon would. However his mother’s earth magic and his father’s fire magic genetics ended up clashing horribly, which resulted in Izuku possessing no magic of his own.

It...it sucked, it sucked a lot! Growing up, almost every other kid around Izuku had possessed magic of some kind, but not him. Izuku didn’t have a drop of magic in his body, he was just a barren wasteland of a person. He couldn’t become a mage, witch, or wizard of any kind, he would only be able to become a warrior or knight. Yet...Izuku knew it could have been worse for him growing up, so he wasn’t too upset with the fact that he didn’t possess magic. People who had dark magic or time magic always had it rough. There were a lot of negative stereotypes surrounding dark magic even though it could be used for good and it wasn't just a malevolent force of evil. People were also always hounding after those who had time magic, begging them to tell them their futures, even though it never led to anything good. So in some ways Izuku was glad that he didn’t have any magic, that he wasn’t heavily discriminated against like some groups of magic were.

“We’re here,” Dabi grinned, inhaling loudly, “I can smell the dragon’s scent of iron and fire.”

Timidly Izuku started sniffing quietly as well, but he couldn’t pick up on anything yet. Then again...Dabi was a fire mage, and those who possessed fire magic were more attuned to things related to fire and heat. Toga and Spinner were also sniffing the air as well. Toga would probably be able to pick up on the dragon with her vampire senses, and Spinner would have a stronger sense of smell than most humans.

Shigaraki then crouched down into a fighting position, “Get ready everyone.”

Quickly Izuku pulled out and brandished the sword that Shigaraki had bought him at the blacksmith shop. There were runes and symbols carved into the very sword itself, though Izuku wasn’t entirely sure what they did. They would most likely make all of his hits more sharp and painful, give him a bit of an edge.

Just as Izuku crouched down into a fighting position, a deafening roar echoed across the Forest of Fire. Flying through the air, was a generic red looking dragon, the kind you would see on the cover of a fantasy novel.

With another loud growl, the red dragon crashed down onto the forest floor, it’s yellow eyes narrowed angrily. Immediately the dragon opened its gaping mouth, filled to the brim with shiny white teeth, and shot a blast of red hot fire at them. The beast didn’t even hesitate before attacking them.

Izuku was about to dodge out of the way of the incoming breath of fire, but Dabi instead blocked the dragon’s attack with an attack of his own. Blue flames started pouring out of the fire mage’s hands before crashing into the dragon’s own flames, overpowering them.

Holy...shit…

Dabi’s fire was stronger than the dragon’s fire! The dragon then howled loudly in pain, as its own face got burned with Dabi’s flames. Toga then started giggling manically, twirling one of her sharp blades in her hands.

“At this rate we won’t even need to fight the dragon!” Toga cooed, her eyes half lidded, “Dabi will just be able to roast it alive! So much for it’s natural fire resistance!”

Oh god…

Wow…

Izuku then stared at Dabi with stars in his eyes, as the man was somehow able to fight the fully grown dragon all by himself, overwhelming every attack from Ladon with one of his own. It...it was incredible. However Izuku then jolted back to awareness, as he heard a quiet growling from above him. Whipping his head up, Izuku half-expected to see another dragon or beast about to land on top of him, but it was just Shigaraki. Shigaraki who was glaring angrily at Dabi, a snarl growing on his lips.

He...he was angry with Dabi, no, furious! Why...why was Shigaraki mad though?! Dabi...he...his magic was amazing! He was taking on the dragon all by himself with no assistance!

Shigaraki, however, just continued to growl and pout angrily. His gaze fluttering between Dabi and Izuku. Suddenly Shigaraki crouched down to the ground and began pouring magic into the earth.

Wait….

Was….

Was that--

Giant cracks and splinters began forming in the earth from where Shigaraki’s hands were connected to the ground. With a loud cry of rage, Shigaraki then sent the large cracks barreling towards where the dragon was still trying and failing to fight Dabi. Once Shigaraki’s magic had hit the dragon, the dragon’s skin started fracturing and splitting apart. Even though dragons did possess hard armored scales and skin, Shigaraki’s magic was slicing through it all like it was nothing. In a matter of seconds, the dragon had turned from a roaring beast into a gooey puddle of flesh, blood, and bones.

Oh... wow ….

That….

That….

“That was amazing!” Izuku practically screamed, running up to Shigaraki, “I didn’t know you possessed dark magic! Let alone decay magic! Decay magic is so freaking rare! I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone mastering it besides the Prince of Decay! Oh wow--that is so cool! You’ll have to let me take notes on it--”

Izuku then continued to gush and fanboy loudly to Shigaraki while Shigaraki watched him contentedly, his eyes hazy and pleased.

“Hey, lovebirds!~” Toga smirked, making ‘kissy’ faces, “we need to get a move on and set up camp before dark!”

Reluctantly Izuku pulled himself away from Shigaraki, his cheeks flushed red.

“R--Right! Let’s get a move on!” Izuku stuttered, following Toga away. Even though Izuku was a little bit upset that he hadn’t gotten to fight the dragon, it had been amazing to watch his other party members defeat it. Plus since they were all a group, they all ended up reaping experience points from the battle. Izuku himself had actually leveled up quite a bit, even though he didn’t do any actual fighting. However Izuku wasn’t going to complain about free experience!

Smirking smugly Shigaraki sent a quiet glare towards where Dabi was standing. Dabi, however, just rolled his eyes at the childish and possessive antics of his leader.

“Show off…” Dabi quietly muttered while walking past Shigaraki. Shigaraki, however, just smirked even wider.

After collecting as many golden apples as they all could carry, they then all left the Forest of Fire and began to make camp somewhere else for the night.

Overall Izuku thought it was a very fun first mission together, and Izuku couldn’t wait to tackle even more quests with them together in the future.

Izuku was ecstatic.

He couldn’t wait to continue adventuring.
