Work Text:
They say when you’re drunk, the feelings are honest.
Bright likes to think he’s an honest person even when he doesn’t share much of his feelings. So, rubbish. That is, until the dispute comes in the form of his best friend, Win. It changes his viewpoint on the saying and on something else that Bright might think it didn’t exist within himself if it wasn’t for this exact moment Win walks over to him with a worried look on his face. He’s stunned into a silence at the sight of his best friend, looking just as drunk but not wasted enough like Bright who feels like he can pass out any minute or anyone else in the party that have already passed out.
His hand reaches out to look for something to grip and it ends up lying limply on the armrest. The surrounding looks blurry, as if his eyes are made to focus on Win who’s now leaning over to see if Bright has passed out yet. Not yet. His voice is stuck at the back of his throat that suddenly goes dry. He clears his throat once, twice until he can finally say his best friend’s name and smiles drunkenly when Win’s face softens. Wow, he thinks, has Win’s face been this bright?
“Let’s go home.”
It goes into deaf ears. Instead of getting up, Bright makes a room for his best friend to sit on the couch. He wonders why Win doesn’t resist when he pulls him down but he doesn’t think much. More like can’t, because his mind is clouded with alcohol and Win's presence probably. They sit like that, face to face, knees barely brushing each other. It’s silence, painfully so that Bright can hear his heart drums inside his ears. It’s hot but Win stays in his place, looking at him with the slightest hint of smile at the corners of his lips. Bright blinks and Win is the only thing he sees.
“What?” comes Win’s voice.
Bright is still staring but he doesn’t know what he’s searching for in Win’s eyes. “Hey, can you do that?” his voice comes barely a whisper.
“Do what?”
Win is looking at him straight in the eyes. Bright just realizes he’s never afraid to do it, unlike him.
“That thing you do that makes your eyes so small?”
And then, Win laughs like what just came out of Bright’s mouth is totally bizarre. Don’t blame him, it’s the alcohol rendering him from forming a coherent speech but Bright laughs along. Win’s laughter a song to his ears and if he could, he wanted to listen to it forever. It’s like something knocks the wind out of him when they have finally stopped thinking it’s funny but the fucking smile still lingers on Win’s face and all of the sudden, Bright finds it hard to breathe. There’s a tension, not quite, but it’s there and thick that he can cut it with a knife.
“Win.” Bright calls out softly.
“Hm?”
“What if I kiss you right now?”
For a moment, Bright is afraid that his best friend is freaked out by the sudden idea but then Win has that smile that Bright recognizes. Familiar and warm and a little bit mischievous, so Win.
“I’d like to see you try.”
So, Bright closes the distance between them in one swift movement. He doesn’t miss Win’s mouth despite being so intoxicated that he can barely see his surroundings. His brain registers the softness of Win’s lips and recognizes it as something Bright has never felt before and boy, does he want more. Win opens his mouth, obedient, when Bright licks. The kiss turns wet, so wet that Bright can taste the strawberry soda that Win probably had a few moments ago. It’s sweet, Win is sweet. Bright is cherishing the taste as their tongues meddle with each other, makes him wonder if Win can taste the alcohol.
Bright barely feels a pair of arms coming up to clasp around his neck. It’s a waste of time to pay attention to anything other than Win’s mouth on his at this moment but Bright still, almost on auto-pilot, grabs Win’s hip to pull him closer. His focus narrowing down to little sounds that Win is making as Bright continues sucking on his best friend’s plum lower lip with a bruising power. Bright is losing his damn mind. He never knew Win could make such noises and he never knew they can make him this aroused.
“Hnnn—hurts.”
“Sorry.” Bright pulls away a little. He didn’t mean to draw blood but Win’s lower lip is bleeding.
They both are out of breath. Win’s heavy breath fanning Bright’s face. The string of saliva connecting their lips is still there, glimmering in the dark. Win smells like strawberry and alcohol now. Bright in the middle of trying to sort out his thoughts, finally comes up with one word to describe Win. Intriguing. He shows a lot yet a little at the same time, completely opposite to himself. Like now, it’s hard to read the expression on his best friend’s face. Bright leans away first, he thinks he’s sobering up a little.
“That was good.” Win says like he’s carefully picking out his words. “Do you kiss your girlfriend like that?”
Bright wants to deny. In the high of almost making out with his best friend made him forget that he actually has a girlfriend out there waiting for his texts and call, telling her he’s safely arrived at home but Bright is here and all he thinks about is wanting to kiss his best friend again.
“Yes.”
Win nods with that eye-smile that drives Bright crazy.
“But it feels different when I kiss you.” he adds and Win is staring at him, the smile turns confused.
“Isn’t that because you’re drunk?”
Bright wants to say that exactly but he’s sobered up now and still thinking of wanting to shove his tongue down Win’s throat like he hasn’t just done that a few minutes ago.
“No.” Bright shakes his head. “Win, will you believe me if I say I’m being honest?”
He watches as Win’s eyes soften. “Trust me, even if you don’t say anything, I can read you like an open book.”
“What does it mean?” Bright finds himself asking out loud, bewildered.
Win laughs again and there’s mischief in his eyes. “It means I wouldn’t mind if you want to make out again sometimes,” a pause, Win looks thoughtful. “Just don’t let your girlfriend know.”
Bright thinks about the girl problems he needs to deal with later but he wants to take the risk.
“Don’t worry about that.”
Win raises an eyebrow. “Are you breaking up with her?”
Bright nods. Win looks so innocent. He looks like an angel. Has he always been this beautiful?
“I will kill you if it’s because of me.”
“No, it’s because of me.” Bright chuckles as his hands come up to cup Win’s face.
“Win?”
Win hums in response and Bright smiles. “Can I kiss you again?”
They say when you’re drunk, the feelings are honest.
Bright likes to think he’s an honest person and he might have wanted to do this for far longer than he realized.
