Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos watched Bruce Wayne with distaste.
Despite the many warnings that the man had received, and now having apparently lost his youngest and only biological child, Batman was hellbent on finding Jason Peter Todd, the Demigod son of Poseidon, god of the seas.
The Fates disapproved. And it was not good for them to disapprove.
"We must do something, sisters." Clotho demanded, her fingers finding it hard to work with Jason's string once more. The boy's fate was highly unpredictable and he was stubborn.
"What could we possibly do?" Lachesis demanded, rolling her eyes in exasperation.
Her two sisters smirked and she frowned.
"That was rhetorical." She grumbled.
Her sisters explained their plan, and even Lachesis had to admit it was good.
She agreed, and they transported each necessary person or party to the Mortal Hero base just outside of the earth's sphere.
The three Moirai waited for the mortals to quiet down, many confused and angry at the sudden transport.
When they finally revealed themselves, all but Princess Diana, daughter of Zeus, tensed for a fight, the air becoming wary and hostile.
"Peace, mortals. We do not seek to harm." Clotho, Lachesis and Atropos spoke in unison.
"Who are you?" Superman, Clark Kent, demanded.
"We are the Moirai, the Fates. We have come to give you a gift, one that may teach you a lesson that you dearly need." Clotho explained, her voice gently but stern.
Princess Diana knelt before them. "Ladies." She murmured with utmost respect.
Atropos produced a hardcover book and held it out to the Princess.
"Read. You will not leave this place until you have finished." Lachesis commanded, before the three women vanished.
"What is it, Diana?" Bruce asked quietly, standing with the Bat Family, minus Damian and Jason.
"It says Son of the Sea." Diana announced.
Wally zipped to her side and peered at the dark red cover displaying silver lettering and a blue-green trident in the center.
"Well, we should get this over with." Oliver sighed.
Everyone agreed and they moved to the common area, arranging themselves comfortably.
"I shall begin." Diana decided, crossing her legs and beginning to read. "Ambush and Camp."
