Work Text:

TAEGU1930

The first time Taehyung sees the boy it’s in a vision.

He’s in the middle of a random street, walking back home when the familiar feeling of submerging underwater hits him. A second later, he’s in bed with a man he’s never seen before. The stranger’s lying face down on the bed and his wide back is exposed, the sheets pooling by his hips. Taehyung watches as his own hand moves to caress the man’s skin, fingers making their way up through the multiple scars littering the unknown man’s back until it reaches the nape of his neck, his long fingers brushing the smaller strands of dark brown hair, making the boy stir. He lets out a tired sounding grunt, makes a move to stand up, and just as quickly as the vision started it ends, leaving a shaken Taehyung frozen in the streets, the cold seeping through his too-thin-clothes and the feeling of the boy’s skin still somewhat present on his fingertips.

After the first time, his secret lover visits him in his visions more often than not. So much so that Taehyung has gotten quite used to the boy’s presence, his face now a known one, and one that the older boy is very fond of. That one vision though, where he first saw mystery-boy’s face, is one he’ll never forget. It started with the sun touching his skin, and when Taehyung opened his eyes and looked around, he found himself in an unknown backyard, body resting in the warm grass. Beside him laid a boy he wasn’t sure he knew, his eyes closed and his face relaxed. The boy’s skin sparkled in the light, as did Taehyung’s, making them look like beautiful statues, perfectly smooth and immobile, ready to be painted. And laying there together, the older brunette had to admit they made quite the image, their skin tones contrasting, but looking like they were made to be looked at as a joint art piece.

As if sensing he was being watched, mystery-boy opened his eyes and stared right into his observer’s soul. It’s hard to tell what shocked Taehyung the most, the younger’s eye color or the intense look he was receiving. Red eyes were an ordinary thing amongst his kind, Taehyung discovered in his years of roaming the world trying to understand what he was. The scarlet tone reflected their only source of food, the blood he was forced to hunt for to keep his body “alive”. So yes, he was shocked to see the stranger’s orbs were not in fact the same crimson color he was used to, but a shade of orange so unnatural the elder had to do a double take.

Accompanyingthe unusual eye color was a look Taehyung certainly wasn’t used to being on the receiving end of, a look so full of affection attempting to be disguised as mirth, a tiny smirk failing to hide the extent of the boy’s feelings. Everything about the man before him felt peculiar though, not only his breathtaking eyes, but his every feature, from the distinctive nose to the scar adorning his cheek. A warmth so intense suddenly filled Taehyung’s chest he could’ve sworn his heart had started beating again. He knew better than to believe that, but it didn’t stop the astonished clairvoyant from feeling like he was being catapulted back into reality when the vision ended abruptly. He was back on his tiny hotel room, still sat by the window, the snow outside now contradicting the sunny sensation still encompassing his insides.

Taehyung rarely ever had visions that included being out in the sun, but as time went on, he noticed mystery-boy seemed to bring a lot of sunlight into his life. This time they were in a forest, and they weren’t alone. Beside Taehyung sat a small boy with raven hair and a round face, his catlike eyes focused on the blond currently sparring with no one other than his vision-boy. The two were clearly joking around, their loud laughs echoing through the woods, but that didn’t stop catlike man from staring like he was ready to intervene if needed be. Taehyung on the other hand, took the time to look around, watching the trees and listening to the tiny animals hiding from them before turning back to the vampires battling in front of him. The two men were as different as two people could be, Tae’s boy being taller and more muscular and the blond being tiny and extremely swift with his movements. Their dispute was truly beautiful to watch, the brunet counting on his superior strength to land blows and the fairy-like man barely keeping his feet on the ground, making it look like a dance. After what felt like forever, the man beside him broke the silence.

“Kookie’s a real good fighter,” he said with a poorly hidden Taegu drawl. Taehyung turned to look at him, but the other's eyes were still fixed on the light haired man. He felt himself smile and nod anyway. The man probably noticed, as he continued talking. “How many vampires have tried to kill him?”

“The same number that has died in the attempt,” he heard himself say, the smile long gone from his face. It was always weird to have conversations on his visions, the feeling of not having control of your own mouth not being something he could get used to. Before the words coming out of his mouth really hit him, Taehyung was back to reality, the sound of laughter disappearing and the smell of the beach coming back to him. The brunet laid back in the sand, unfocused eyes on the night sky, his thoughts stuck on the scars he’d seen on his future lover’s back.

Taehyung knows a vision’s important when it comes to him more than once. This one in particular he’s specially tired of knowing. He’s had it ever since he was changed, and it’s never complete. The place is always the same, a quaint restaurant with a wooden bar that he’s always sat by, sometimes by himself, sometimes accompanied by his boy. The time on the clock is the same and the people having lunch are always the fucking same, but Taehyung can’t figure out why. He’s been waiting there for years, stuck on a fucking uncomfortable stool making conversation with a man he knows is important, but can never quite hear what’s actually being said. It’s not like they’re speaking a different language, the words just sound muffled and the vision's blurry, as incoherent as that sounds. Every single time he finds himself there, Tae gets more and more anxious, not knowing why such a mundane place would eventually be so important to him, the smell of food so strong and present every time he almost gets nauseous when it comes to him.

When the bar door opens, Taehyung knows immediately that that’s it. It’s him. His hand doesn’t leave the drink he’s been pretending to drink, but he turns around before the man can actually come to him. Vision-boy’s standing a few steps away from him, looking like a kid who got caught doing something they shouldn’t. Before he can react, Taehyung smiles his biggest smile, the one who makes his eyes turn into tiny slits, and delivers the line he’s been waiting to say.

“You kept me waiting long enough,” he says trying to put up a straight face. The boy looks even more caught off guard for a second, but then he smiles a little and Taehyung’s heart would’ve actually stopped if he wasn’t already dead.

“My apologies, sir.”

“That's okay, I'm just relieved. Thought you were never gonna show up.”

PUSAN1976

Taehyung recognizes his first vision of Jungkook immediately.

He knew the hotel room was familiar when they arrived a week ago, and while they spent a lot of time in bed together, this afternoon feels different. The two of them had a rough few days hunting, growing accustomed to feeding easily in the outskirts of Seoul and forgetting how much harder it was to navigate the steep hills of Pusan, so they take a break to recover. Not physically, but mentally. Spending too much time in 'hunting mode' makes it harder to just go back to living amongst humans, and Jungkook's been having a specially hard time adjusting to the new diet.

The younger now lays on his stomach, humming to a Han Daesoo song he can't get caught singing out loud, and he looks much more relaxed. Taehyung's been paying attention to his lover's mood and after a few hours of complete stillness, Jungkook's body language exudes nothing but calmness, judging by the way his naked body is completely spread out and his head stopped turning every time someone makes a sound outside.

Important business await for them in the city, and Seokjin will for sure complain about the extra days they took to complete the task, but right now all Taehyung can think to do is kiss every scar on Jungkook's body, counting and committing them to memory to make sure the brunet is no longer a figment of his imagination.
