Summary
Five years after the Miskatonic Massacre, Daniel Cain is confident that he'll never see the likes of Herbert West or his reagent again. That suits him just fine. He hates the guy for what he did. One day, he receives a patient fresh off a suicide attempt whose bloodwork reminds Dan of days filled with glowing vials and corpse violence. Astonished, Dan unwillingly finds Herbert a part of his life again.
As Herbert recuperates, something ominous lurks over Arkham: a strange monster, killing at random and making off with body parts. Herbert and Dan are reminded of just how well they suit one another as they both work to stop the creature ... before there's nobody left for organ donation.

Summary
The crypt collapses with everyone inside. Dan crawls his way out, helping Francesca out as well. But what if he had stayed behind for Herbert? What if something in him prevented him from leaving Herbert behind, no matter how many times he proved himself capable of ruining Dan's life completely?
