Once she was done, she wrapped some bandages around them and pressed a kiss to each finger, gazing up at Agott with bright eyes and a slight flush to her cheeks. Agott doesn’t hate Coco. She doesn’t think she ever did. Whatever she felt back then wasn’t hate– it was bright and strong, sure, but not hate. So now, as Coco’s problem makes itself ever more serious– waiting for her, patient and terrible, set silently at the foot of her childhood home– Agott realizes something unfortunate. She seems to refuse to simply leave Coco to bear her problems alone.
Agott knows magic like the back of her hand, after all. She knows magic, and she knows it well— and if she’s learned anything from the past year, it’s that two pens are always better than one.
(And all the while this feeling, this not-dislike, coils through Agott’s heart like spring flowers, petals unfurling gently within her soul. Perhaps… there is still a bit more she has to realize.)

“Close your eyes,” Coco said, so quietly it was almost a whisper.
Behind her shut eyelids, every sound and feeling magnified as Coco brushed her remaining un-cut hair to the front. The comb’s teeth on her scalp. Coco's breath, so close. And this, too: How quiet she was, as if waiting for something.
Snip . The first part of her bangs fell to the floor.
“Can I tell you something, too?” Coco said, almost too quietly to make out.
“Sure.”
Anything, she didn't add. Please tell me anything.
Agott doesn't recognize herself in the mirror anymore, but Coco is there to help.

[Agott clenched her jaw. She was not about to admit that she was thinking about her, about how anxious she felt whenever the slippery witch was out of her sight. The last time that had happened Coco returned with a scar and with a smile that did not reach her eyes, and it was starting to eat Agott inside.
She dreaded the possibility of Coco leaving and never returning. Of Coco leaving and becoming a Brimmed Cap. Of Coco getting her memories erased.
She swallowed and took a quick sip of tea to calm her nerves and gather her thoughts. "Coco…" she glanced up, staring directly into her golden eyes. "Do you still…love magic?"]
Or,
The night after Coco returns from visiting her mother, Agott is unable to fall asleep. To her surprise the source of her concern suffers with the same affliction, so she decides to finally confront her about the events in Ezrest, and in the process realize a truth hidden deep beneath her heart.
