    Summary

Gatsby. The very sound of the name, the thought of it, shakes him to his soul. How can it be? Jay Gatsby is dead, nothing more than a name on a gravestone and a body rotting six feet under, nothing more than a name and a face engraved on the most secret recesses of Nick’s heart. He can’t have invited Nick anywhere, because he is dead. And yet…
The invitation is crumpled in one tightened fist, and when he smooths it out he can barely read the words through the wetness in his eyes. It doesn’t matter, he already knows what it says.

    Dear Neighbor,
It would be entirely my honor if you were to attend a little party I am hosting tonight. I must apologize for not calling on you sooner. I have been kept busy by a particular set of circumstances, but that is no excuse. I dearly hope you will let me make it up to you by hosting you in my home.
    Your Neighbor,
    J. Gatsby

Or, after finishing his book, Nick goes to sleep. Then Nick wakes up: on the morning of Gatsby's party. The only thing is, Nick isn't sure that he's really awake at all. Still, if this is his last chance to see the man he loves - alive - then he's damn well not going to waste it.
