roots have replaced the veins in their arms, creeping down their limbs and sprouting through the skin to grow back into the dirt again. their eyes are open, unseeing, eyes missing despite the rest of them being near-perfectly preserved. you think they look beautiful, in their cracked open grave, moonlight catching on the snow drifting slowly into their uncovered eye sockets like ashes.
