Summary
It’s late at night, and Wheatley sat groaning on the living room couch, just freshly disturbed from a pleasant dream. He recounted everything in his mind— the blue skies, the morning dew, the way she looked at him. Then discord. That awful, unforgiving sound, still ringing in his ears. He’d never had a nightmare quite like that.
But then he heard it again— that sound that left him questioning whether he had even woken up all:
Chell’s voice, crying his name. -

It was over.
There was noise, light, sensation, and a goal. That’s all there ever was.
Wheatley shouted something from behind her. She didn’t hear it, she didn’t care. Her ears rang and her vision waned, things hurt but she didn’t have the time or energy to assess what or where. All that mattered to her was the space between her and this lift, and all she knew was that it was closing.He said something again, this time standing near her— going up with her. She didn’t react. She didn’t even look at him, she hoped she’d never have to again.
And so they waited, and waited. Until after what had truly felt like an eternity, she saw it: light. -

Summary
It had been a long time since they escaped that awful place together. Wheatley had only begun to grasp the concept of sympathy, but he still hadn't come to terms with what he'd done, and Chell knew he was never going to on his own.
She hadn’t let him touch her since then, aside from the occasional grab on the wrist to get him moving.
She intended to change that today, unbeknownst to Wheatley, who sat tirelessly on the couch across from her.
“I don’t understand.” He’d said shortly before this, only followed by a blunt and logical “You will.”

Summary
Years after the events of Portal 2, Chell was able to reintegrate herself into human society, or what was left of it in a post-Combine world. All she wishes to do is cut ties from the Aperture facility, yet something keeps her coming back to that small shed year after year. Up above the atmosphere, Wheatley still sits in the Earth's orbit before something finally takes hold of him.
