Xiaoge wakes up late. He checks on his phone to see that it’s already eight in the morning. Perhaps, he just feels comfortable enough in his sleep that he overslept. Regardless, it’s not the time that catches Xiaoge’s attention next.
Today is August 17th. Wu Xie and Pangzi always celebrate it as the day Xiaoge came out of the Bronze Gate. Every year they buy a big cake, prepare a feast with lots of alcohol, and invite their friends.
“You know that today is August 17th, right?” Xiaoge nods, and Wu Xie continues. “We usually celebrate it as the day you come out of the Bronze Gate. But, uh… I want this date to be… different? Something more… special? For us?”
Xiaoge has no idea where this is going. Wu Xie reaches inside his pocket, and pulls out a red velvet box.
