Summary
“They knew they could not meaningfully injure you. So they targeted your memory instead.” Kurt stopped, taking in their surroundings, his tail dragging against the rocks and debris as it swished in thought.
“Something… something to suppress the memories of what was before our eyes. To make us forget anything we had seen in the lab. But it was not a direct hit, where I had pulled you away. And when it did take effect, what you saw was me.”

Logan loses his memory of Kurt in a mission gone wrong. Kurt is determined to help him remember, as he guides him back home.
Without the weight of their years of history, they find that some topics are easier to talk about. -

"Gottes Segen, Logan," Kurt gasped out.
He'd always known how effective Logan was. How lethal those claws were against his enemies.
He'd never expected he would understand it quite so personally, as his weight slid forward against the metal plunged through his chest in six sharp points.

Summary
It was not easy for Logan to say that he… loved someone. He did not say it as easily as Kurt did. For Logan to say it meant something different. Deeper. Something he had always been afraid to name aloud, for fear that Kurt would pull back and they would lose whatever this was between them.
Logan loved Kurt.

Summary
"It's like seein’ a damn ghost every time I look at ya’," Logan sighed.
Kurt Darkhölme. An achingly familiar shell, yet every movement, every expression, different. He kept searching for a trace of the Kurt he knew every time his gaze dragged across his shadowed face. That if he just looked hard enough, something would be there. That on some level, he had his elf back again.
"Your world's Kurt," the man started hesitantly, turning from his stare. "He was compassionate, yes? Selfless? Gentle?"
"To the core," Logan replied fondly, taking a long drink.
Darkhölme set his own bottle down sharply. "Then I am sorry, but your friend is truly gone."
