Summary
Living in a kingdom called Thorn, a young woman named Contessa comes across the biggest challenge of her life. She faces a society where her fellow residents of Thorn, Thorneans think that diamonds and titles define their lives. With tensions bubbling between the working class and the monarchy, and her family remaining loyal to humility, her morals and opportunism meet head-to-head, and she must choose between her inner circle and the possibility for change.
The Royals are not governing their kingdom well, and the contact between the people and the Royals are almost non-existing. When Contessa meets her old childhood friend Eero she is taken to the palace. Contessa is a girl with a strong sense of inner justice and is not very fond of the way her home is ruled. So, the moment she steps into the palace, everything changes. Contessa promises changes both for herself, the Royals and possibly the entire kingdom. Can she deliver the promises she made, or will she have to serve lies?

Summary
After returning home from Under the Mountain, everyone is struggling to cope with the trauma of Amarantha's reign. Rhys lingers in the shadows at the Spring Court, concerned about Feyre's mental health, and his presence spurs events to unfold in unexpected ways.
The plot covers the events of A Court of Mist and Fury with major alterations. In this AU, we see what could have happened if characters were honest with each other, and talked things out rather than speaking in riddles or just avoiding topics altogether. We also get some actual apologies for egregious behavior that got glossed over in canon (looking at you, Rhys Under the Mountain) and big reveals that get put off to later books or not at all (looking at you, Lucien's paternity).
Relationships in this AU are fully consensual rather than based on bargains made under duress, half-truths, or huge power imbalances, so romances that had an enemies-to-lovers flavor feel more like friends to lovers.
