He rolled his eyes and placed the small box in the palm of her hand. It was wrapped in a little red bow, the box itself seemingly made out of wood. It was a nice presentation, all things considered.
“I hope you like it…” he grumbled uneasily.
“It’s from you, how could I not?” she responded, a genuine fondness in her tone.
Once the lid was off, she pulled up the gift and held it to the light.
“It’s a necklace. I thought you might like it. It’s not super traditional, more like a choker.” He grabbed a small pendant on the front of it. “You can take it off, but I did…put my initial on it,” he finished sheepishly.
Her eyebrows slowly raised, and the smile on her face slowly grew and grew until it was almost ridiculous-looking. Her eyes glanced up to stare at Robert’s.
And for once, she was speechless.
“What? What are you giving me that look for? Is something wrong? Do you not like it?” he asked, anxiety written all over his features.
“Robert. This is a collar.”
“What?”

Summary
Six months after Shroud was defeated, Invisigal had finally established herself as a respected member of the SDN. She was working full-time under the company, was fully welcomed back onto the Z-team, and she even had a new hot little boyfriend to go along with it.
But after witnessing a particularly traumatic event on a mission gone wrong, her identity and her self-esteem shattered once more into a thousand tiny pieces, leaving her grieving, broken, and lost over who she truly was. She stuffed those feelings down, becoming an empty husk of a person.
Yet, Robert insisted on picking up every single one of those pieces and putting her back together. He had always known who she was: a hero, through and through. He'd make her see that, even if he had to force all of those feelings to the surface in some more unconventional ways.

You would think after months of being in the office, after cleaning up the entire Z-team, after establishing himself as a respected, intelligent, and kind dispatcher, his girlfriend would be the first person to listen to his calls on every mission.
But no. Again, and again, and again, she continues to argue, interrupt, and disobey him at every turn.
He loved her. But he was growing tired of it. He was technically still her boss, after all.
So he turned to more...creative, and drastic measures.
