Now, she awoke in StarClan, face to face with the faded version of herself with stars in her pelt. "So you're back," this part of Strikestar said.
Strikestar growled. "So I am."
They sat in silence, the dead and living Strikestars. The forests of StarClan were not like the forests of the living world. They did not stir with the wind, nor whistle with birdsong. They glimmered instead, flickering like the embers of a dying fire, or maybe a fire being lit anew. Strikestar the living wasn't sure. Strikestar the dead had answers, but, she claimed, was honor-bound not to give them.

She did mourn that she might have tasted her last trout, though. And her last perch. And last minnow. And all the fish that the river had to offer. They were richer and fattier than ground-prey, and Leopardstar and Mistyfoot had said that that's why RiverClan cat fur was so sleek.
It was hard not to live with half her paws in the past when everything reminded her of it.
It wasn't so far away, she'd thought to herself. She could sneak off. All she had to do was follow the border back to Fourtrees, and then cross the bridge back to RiverClan.
But then Sasha would stir, and that sad and worried look Moth had grown used to would show up even while Sasha was dreaming, and Moth knew that she couldn't abandon her mother.

"All I know," Hawkpaw said, suppressing a frustrated growl, "is that Sasha said she couldn't stay, and she was going, and Moth decided to go ahead and join her."
"So why'd you stay, then?" Blackclaw fell into step, flanking Hawkpaw from the opposite side of Heavystep. The black warrior wasn't that much taller than Hawkpaw, but his authority loomed over the apprentice like a shadow. "How come you didn't turn tail and run with 'em?"
"Because I'm RiverClan." Hawkpaw's tail lashed with impatience. "And I always will be. And if you'll excuse me, I need to tell Leopardstar about this now. Please," he added, though it sounded more angry than submissive.

Hawkpaw, now more than anything, needs to prove that he's RiverClan to his core.

When Sasha tells Hawkpaw and Mothpaw that she's leaving, one stays, and one goes.

"I can't stay here anymore."
"Why not?" Hawkpaw's fur fluffed at the back of his neck. "It's good here. We're learning to hunt and fight. We're strong here. Please don't make us leave again," he added in a smaller voice. "I don't want to go."
Sasha blinked at him, slowly. "You can stay. In fact, I... I want you and Moth to stay."
"What?" Mothpaw felt sick.
"You have a good life here." Sasha gestured with her tail at the RiverClan camp. "Friends, good mentors, a future. Everything I could possibly want for you. And I won't take that away from you just because I can't stay."
"So, you're--you're leaving us?" Hawkpaw's ears swung out. "Just like that?"
"I'm sorry, Hawk." Sasha hung her head in shame. "This is just the way it has to be."

Summary
Stormpaw is seven moons old when he and his kin are taken prisoner by TigerClan and thrown into an old foxhole. Somehow, life doesn't get much easier after that.

“Why,” Hawkpaw finally asks, deathly calm, “did you say that?”
Leopardstar shrugs. “I didn’t see either of you coming up with an explanation. You’re welcome for covering your tails.” She ambles to her den and doesn’t look back at them.
Stormpaw can feel Hawkpaw’s gaze burning holes into the side of his head. He sighs and decides that he’s ready for this night to be over, so he trudges to the apprentice den. If Hawkpaw wants to stand outside and glare at Stormpaw from across the camp, let him.
It’s not like he's the one who just told all of RiverClan that they’re in love with each other.

Summary
Renamed to Crown of Thorns: Red Sky to denote that it is now the first in the Crown of Thorns series/rewrite. New look, same great taste.
What if, upon Leafpool receiving the "Bramble claws" omen towards the end of Sunset, she read it instead as "Thorn claws"? After all, one of those two was eligible for the deputyhood, and it wasn't Brambleclaw.
...After getting turned down for the deputyhood, Brambleclaw has a realization. Several realizations, in fact.
A canon divergence/rewrite of Warriors, starting from Chapter 17 of Sunset on. It'll extend for as long as I feel like it/have time.
