Summary
“Games and puzzles,” said Will. “Everything with you is an elaborate labyrinth of obfuscation and manipulation. You want to worm your way into my heart and my head so deep that I see and feel and understand nothing but you. Three years later and I find you in my home as if nothing has changed. Does time mean nothing to you, Hannibal?”
Hannibal smiled ruefully.
“Time is my greatest enemy. Despite all my efforts to the contrary, it remains stubbornly beyond my control. Instead I have felt every second of the last three years of my incarceration. Summary
This is a rewrite of the first season of Hannibal exploring how the story could have unfolded if Hannibal was a non-toxic character capable of forming genuine bonds with other people even with his psychopathy. This is what the story could have been without Hannibal being toxic, manipulative, and abusive towards Will while still keeping the core traits of his character the same (he's still a psychopath, he's still a serial killer, he's still a cannibal).
