Summary
AU in which, after the events of the War Hero background, Femshep never becomes Commander Shepard.
Jane Shepard, recipient of the Star of Terra and recognized war hero, has retired from military service and returned to civilian life. She decided to take a chance and follow a small dream she’s had since she was little: owning a small, personal shop. She didn’t particularly want to run a cafe, but it was being sold for cheap and she felt she could make it work, so she went for it.
Months later, she was teetering somewhere between comfort and boredom, frequently falling into daydreams of what her life could have been had she accepted the Commission the Alliance offered her after her heroics. Something deep in her wanted to return to the exciting life of guns and glory, to being the hero, but she squashed those thoughts, forcing herself to be content with the memories. She couldn’t help but hope for something to happen though, something that would shake up her routined, boring days and replace them with something interesting.
Luckily for her, Tali happened to find her shop during her brief visit to the Citadel.
