Summary
But when she opened the door to him that night with a “Frank”, her lip trembling as she stared at him – her eyes were already red from crying and she looked tired – he wondered how much that mattered. He knew what Karen Page looked like crying and breathing – or yelling – his name, he knew what she looked like with blood on her, but he didn’t know who Ben Urich was to her. He kind of hated himself for that. And for a man used to self-contempt, this dose noticeably burned.

Summary
Follow up/companion piece to All We Do Is Hide Away.
Everything in their lives should tell them now, you have to do it now because there won’t be a tomorrow. But somehow the time he spends with her allows him some kind of freedom he hasn’t felt since he enlisted, since Maria first got pregnant. It comforts him enough that he can just look, and think about what it would be like, thinks it’s okay because it will happen, and it’s enough. As long as she’s there, it’s enough. The press of time that he knows he should feel isn’t there. It’s the one thing Frank never expected to feel again, freedom of time. And it's the one thing he didn't think he'd want again, but now he does; he wants time.
Frank thinks about how their 'after' is turning out, and meets Doris.

Summary
Following on from How It Is With Her.
Home. It might be that, her complete natural acceptance of him in her place, her space she’d made for herself and he thinks he might have remade with her. Part of him wants to do exactly what she’s offering, grab her and take her home, safe away from everything else. He can almost feel the comfort of her home, but he won’t. She deserves this, Curtis deserves this. Hell, Frank thinks maybe he even deserves this. His friend to know his…whatever Karen Page is; his friend to know Karen Page. He thinks about Doris' acknowledgement of him yesterday, even Ellison's when he first came back - he wants to give her something similar.
Frank introduces Karen to Curtis.

Summary
Follows on from Chasing My Mind
When it happens it isn’t how he thought it would be – and Frank did think about it, often – though he probably should have realised it would happen exactly like this. It’s them. They break through every barrier to the extreme, passing through multiple levels at once. They were never casual and Frank supposes this shouldn’t have been any different.

Summary
Continuing on from Hope Of A Heart.
He hates that title. He thought he was okay with the lack of labels between him and Karen, and for the most part, he is – when it’s actually just him and Karen, but when everybody else wants to know, Frank still has this problem of trying to represent her, represent them, and feeling like he fails for it. ‘Boyfriend’/’Girlfriend’ isn’t enough, doesn’t convey what they are to each other. But he hasn’t come up with what he should be using instead, what would describe them better.
“I have a…a partner, yeah,” he tries, feeling it in his mouth, tasting it. “Karen.” He adds, because that’s the part that matters. She’s Karen.
Frank and Karen continue to navigate their relationship. The Lieberman's want to meet Karen.

Summary
Continuing on from Into The Good Life.
“I thought I might…I worried I’d lose her, that she’d be…taken away from me. I didn’t think it was going to be like this.” He would have done everything he could, killed any fuck he had to, would have gone down himself to protect her, but he knew it was still a possibility. Maybe he’d be found out and he’d have to leave. Someone in her life not accepting him. Or maybe she would have had enough. He would have fought, for her, for them, but if it was what she wanted, he'd have gone. But not this, not Matt fucking Murdock coming back from the goddamn grave to ruin them.
“Right now it seems like you’re throwing her away.” Curtis says.
“Oh, fuck you, Curtis.” He scoffs, doing a double take to avoid his friend’s face as much as possible, but still he sees something that looks like pity, not insulted, Curt not rising to the bait.
Matt's back. Frank doesn't deal with it very well.
