Summary
He couldn’t get the sounds of it out of his mind. The midnight hush of A&E was overlaid by the remembered soundtrack of two hours ago, when they’d first stepped offstage. A high whine, a panicked whimper, clattering on the metal stairs as the Ghoul dropped to all fours, curling in on himself with his back to the wall, his oh-so-human frame vanishing into something animal. A saucepan-lid clang when he tore the mask off and dropped it on the step. The first snarl bubbling up in his throat, growing until it was stronger than the buzz of the crowd outside; a plea, and a warning.
Perpetua hadn’t heeded it.
Moments from the fallout of Injured Ghoul.
