Summary
Scott stood in the kitchen, humming absentmindedly. In front of him on the stove was a pot of potato soup he used the last of their potatoes for. A nagging voice in the back of his head kept reminding him that he and Jimmy would need to harvest more tomorrow morning, but Scott brushed it off. Star would remember. And if he didn’t, Jimmy would. He was remarkably better at remembering things than Scott had ever been, almost to an annoying degree. Not that star could ever actually be annoyed with stars husband, but stars point stood.

The sheet was cold on the other side, as was the pillow. Scott stared at it, waiting for waves of blonde hair to spread across them, for the soft snores to fill the air and rock him back to sleep. He waited. He closed his eyes, hard, and shook his head back and forth. He waited.
