Summary
In a twist of irony, two years after Mulder's concussion that temporarily wiped his memory of Scully, Scully herself suffers a severe concussion. Upon regaining consciousness, she finds that the past six years are a blank slate. While she remembers Mulder, her perception is limited to a year of working together. The entire span of their partnership, including their romantic involvement for the past two years, is lost in the fog of her memory.
Now residing with Mulder, Scully embarks on a journey of rediscovery, confronting the unfamiliarity of her current life while revisiting the traumas of the past six years. Amidst this, she grapples with the realization of her romantic involvement with Mulder, even as her present emotions towards him echo the platonic feelings she once harbored years ago.
Mulder wrestles with past guilt while also struggling to maintain a cautious distance from the woman he loves. He attempts to grant her the space she needs to navigate her way through this unfamiliar life, in hopes she finds her way back to him.
