But Ouma's been so good to me all through this trip. He's stayed in sight, he's helped me when my stab wound's run me down, and he hasn't said even a word of complaint. Not about the hours, not about the workload, not even the lack of success. I expected him to be down about it by now, but he's always high energy, always greeting me with a smile.
...Except when I'm hurting myself. It's almost funny, really, how much he cares about the pain I'm going through, when it's not even me I'm hurting. He deserves to know. I want him to know, to get who Amami Rantaro really is.
It's better, for both of us, if he understands early.
