Summary
Kiryu had been making a point to save up for months. He’d been taking extra jobs whenever he could, and busting his ass to make sure that he was able to collect a bonus whenever the opportunity arose. He’d stopped saying no when his superiors, or his employers, offered him a little extra. He still hadn’t gotten comfortable with the idea of shaking down chinpira on the streets who demanded his time and attention in a fight for money, although he’d discovered that once in a while, they would simply hand over some cash as an apology, especially once they noticed the silver Dojima family pin on his lapel.
Nishiki’s birthday was in a week, and they wouldn’t be able to get away from work long enough to celebrate, so Kiryu had taken it on himself to prepare a small party for Nishiki on his own.
