Summary
The Free Folk always seemed to be touching each other.
Arms thrown around shoulders, hands placed on knees and thighs, even kisses on cheeks. It was casual, warm, affectionate.
Jon was not used to it.

Summary
It quickly became clear to Jon how important the Free Folk found stories and songs by the fireside.
Jon had heard many songs sung by drunken groups in feast halls, had heard many stories told around a lonely cookfire to pass the hours until dawn.
But he’d never experienced anything close to this.

Summary
“You need a name,” Tormund’s youngest offered one night.
“I have a name. I don’t know if you’ve forgotten, but it’s Jon Snow.”
Munda snorted and rolled her eyes.
“No, not a name like that. That’s not a proper name, doesn’t say anything about who you are or what you’ve done. You need a name like Papa’s, Giantsbane, his has a story.”

Tormund chuckled at the look on his face. “I didn’t learn your so-called common tongue until I started raiding as a teenager. I’m just a good learner.”
“Do you think you’d be a good teacher? I’d like to learn, if you’d be willing to help me.”

Summary
The wolf raced through the dark forest, paws crunching in fresh fallen snow. The stars were fading in the sky, but the night was still alive. Alive with a thousand scents, with pine and dirt and prey burrowed in the ground.
The man woke slowly, softly. He lie content in the space between wakefulness and dreaming, his curls tangled around him, rich taste of meat between his teeth.

Summary
It wasn’t a true raid. At least that’s what Jon kept telling himself.
They wouldn’t be sacking any villages or putting innocent people to the sword or taking bread from hungry mouths. They wouldn’t even be truly crossing the Wall.
But Jon still felt guilty.

Summary
Jon caught sight of a series of dark blue lines inked on Tormund’s shoulder. The lines were somehow both strong and delicate, radiating outward in a pattern that brought to mind the spokes of a wheel.
Tormund noticed him looking and chuckled.
“Never seen these before, little crow?”
