Comment on A Life You Love Beside You

  1. Ooof, poor Caroline (though she’s stuck in it still, thinking it’s love, ugghhh…). Oh, Barnum’s gonna hate himself when he realizes his laying down the law to Thorne—though perfectly natural and justified—had the opposite effect as intended.

Yes, Bennett! I love that guy way too much, lol. I’m so glad he tracked down the truth—though we still don’t know it!

    Rough seas ahead, I’m sure—I can’t wait!

    VDMA,
    Sophia

P.S. Oh, I almost forgot the best part: Philip’s defense, and the narrative description, of Barnum’s nobility and what he’s done for Philip in particular…

This is nobility, this is grace, and its face is tired and worn.

    Chills!!

    1. Man, I remember myself at sixteen - I didn't have an Eric Thorne, thank God, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have dealt with it very well if I had. Poor kid, I love Caroline to bits, but she's living in a tough era for this kind of thing (and yeah, Barnum's definitely going to take this one hard). Also, I'm glad I'm not the only Bennett fan in this crowd. XD That guy's awesome, even though I can't exactly explain why. Maybe it's the spectacles...?

I'm glad you found Phillip's introspection about Barnum's nobility evocative. Personally, that section means a lot to me - expounding our need for grace, and the importance of recognizing nobility in unexpected faces. As always, thank you so much for your thoughtful and encouraging comment!
