The idea of a Tobirama like the one you write seeing the village he dedicated himself to breaking apart, with him barely able to hold the pieces and unable to heal the rift, makes me want to cry.
Me too!
I love how in essence they think alike. Tobirama would be right at home with the feral protective clan.
Yes! That's exactly why I always mentally pair him with an Uchiha - it just seems to work to me...
Pain. The funny part is that reading his lines, most can be parsed as bruised ego, disbelief, and even reluctant awe, but Tobirama might/would take it as anger.
Exactly. Tobirama hears what people say and take it as read unless the chakra he senses doesn't agree.
So when Madara was literally frustrated and pissed off, he would have felt it. And when Madara *sounded* frustrated and pissed off, he would have heard it.
Unfortunately, he took it as read that Madara was angry with him and thus why he was so upset the next day. That was why he was all wan and uncertain with Izuna. 😩
Given the whole 'the sharingan sees the truth, and to see love is to know you are loved', and the huge tangle of messy emotions and politics that is 'Izuna had to make himself into the beloved to stabilize the clan/compensate for his brother's favouritism', Setsuna could not have witnessed a more seemingly run of the mill but explosively powerful scene to start his mental reconciliation. The innocuous is not, and it's lovely.
Aw! Thanks Zanahoria!
And that scene is so emblematic of how all of the people who comment fuel my writing - Miray posted a comment that made me describe Tobirama's reaction to Izuna's touch and my brain suddenly went "all those people who were looking at them... what would they have thought? how would that have affected them?"
