Wow I knew the fanfics we're gonna be good and you did not disappoint. Sword and shield had easily some of the deepest character arcs but it's a shame most of it happened either offscreen or on the post game :') ( hop, my child, I'm so sorry you were left out) this certainly does satisfy that itch! The despair and betrayal is very well conveyed, along with the child like lack of understanding for the gravity of what Bede committed for Rose!
After all, he was just doing what they told them to do :)
SwSh did indeed have some of the best character arcs and it's made me absolutely come to appreciate characters I expected to get completely kicked to the curb (Sonia!!! Bede!!) while also giving me a reason to enjoy characters I initially didn't think much of (Hop!). And yeah most (if not all? Because the only character arcs I can remember do come from Sonia, Bede and Hop) take place off-screen or in the post-game which is,, very sad,,, because it limits the growth of the characters or never closes them out until much later after the story ends.
and thank you! I tried my best for this piece to portray the childish nature of Bede's feelings towards the "crime" had committed in "good faith" so I'm glad that came across!
And jgfhfgjh that "he was just doing what they told him to do :)" made me laugh
