  1. "I trust you were rewarded."
    "Thoroughly."

Oh, god, you two are really something... It'd be really cool if he came to the shop later (a sequel to this fic I mean, unconnected to the fic where he comes to the shop after manipulating Kleya). Here, they just fucked, they didn't use each other. I can imagine him coming there, and then they'd fuck again, and they'd both see it as a rare kind of freedom... I can even imagine them doing it repeatedly, because they both need it.

    1. Good catch -- I left this one open-ended for that exact reason. I am sure that sooner or later I'll figure out where the next meet-up goes. There's a freedom in understanding exactly where the other person stands, even if it's on the other side.

winning hand was left open-ended too, but I'm less interested in where they're going. I'd be more interested to see how Mara gets her revenge.

astrolabe is actually spec'd out as a series too, if only because the second story has a very clear scene in my head that I want to write.

I read Zahn's short story Side Trip last month and it left an impression...

      1. Glad to meet another fan of the obscure stuff from Legends. I've read Side Trip, too, so I know what scene you're talking about.

I've been away from the fandom for years, but procrastination recently brought me back. I'll have to re-read the novels and short stories, the only thing I've managed so far has been re-reading Survivor’s Quest, which was necessary to write my own take on it.

And I'm so happy that there are so many great new Thrawn fanfics!

        1. I’m trying to write as fast as I can before Ahsoka S3 likely makes all my post-Endor speculation a hard AU.

You unfortunately led me down a provenance sequel side trip the last two days with your comments. 😭

And agree with you, I hadn’t really been in the fandom for…more than a decade, but Andor sucked me back in to the new timeline. I hadn’t written since Legends was canon.

          1. Ha! I started writing The Freak Fleet a couple of months before the Thrawn (2017) novel came out, making my stories obsolete. I imagined that Voss Parck would still be tied to Thrawn's early career in the Empire, and DUH! Imagine my surprise when Parck appeared, discovered Thrawn, and then disappeared to who knows where!!!

      2. I couldn’t resist a comment-fic. Now, I realize full well that it doesn’t make sense, but let’s put the logic aside, and pretend for a while that Kleya set up a different shop somewhere on Coruscant, in the Coruscant Underground this time, for example, under a fake name or something.
        ********

Kleya let out a moan when Thrawn entered her, pressing himself against her with such force as if he intended to conquer the Rebel inside her.

Which was precisely what he had been attempting to do.

He had come to her shop, seeking a sculpture of the Bendu she had advertised on the Holonet, knowing full well she would be the only person in the galaxy to have the gall to mock him in such a fashion.

It was a dangerous play, but she knew that he wanted her, and while she wanted to beat him, she wanted him too.

He might have succeeded in destroying their base at Atollon, but his victory was spoiled by the wrath of an immortal creature, which had given her an opening that wouldn’t repeat itself.

But she wouldn’t let him conquer her. She slipped away from him and turned, her sudden movement catching him briefly by surprise, which was everything she needed. She climbed atop him, and started to ride him, resulting in a moan from the alien in turn.

She knew that she wouldn’t be able to conquer the Imperial inside him, but damn her if she didn’t try her best.

        1. Spicy!! Love the parallel construction.

The sequel story WIP is set at the opera, because I can't actually help myself.

          1. Now I have the mental image of Palpatine telling Maja Jade "Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?" while there are moans and growls coming from the next opera box.

            Sorry, I'll see myself out.

            1. Tempting but whenever I put them in a room together Thrawn and Kleya get really chatty. It was a miracle they shut up long enough in the first story. 😅😅
