Well, I'm rather terrible too - I should really feel bad for having kept you up, but I'm far too glad you're enjoying the story to feel bad! ;) You're so encouraging - and I can't tell you how much I appreciate you leaving a comment to let me know what you think about the chapter (even if I'm horrible at responding promptly, I read and savour every single one)!
The mystery portion of this story ballooned waaaaay past what it was originally supposed to, but sometimes the plot just takes the bit between its teeth and doesn't give it back haha. I don't know what it is about Barnum and Bennett that tickles me, but that particular twist at the end of the movie just begs for more elaboration in my opinion! The quintessential enemies to friends, I guess...or at least enemies to frenemies. And yeah, Eric Thorne is slime - and yet fun to write because he definitely knows how to turn a phrase (and everything else) to his advantage.
