I loved Philip's POV here, the scene at the beginning was very fraught--Russian roulette, yikes! Followed by Barnum's anger...though of course, of course he didn't hurt Philip. And then Caroline, hurting so much, hurts Barnum so much too...argh. (And, of course, Thorne continues to be The Worst.)
Yes indeed, everyone in this chapter gets a big slice of angst...except for Thorne, who should be forced to eat the entire pie. As for the gun bit, I was thinking several months ago apropos of mostly nothing: if Phillip Carlyle owned a gun (as most gentlemen at this time would), what kind would it be? And how would he use it? And playing Russian roulette with himself because he blames himself for his family's destruction just seemed so...Phillip Carlyle.
