My Faithful Queen

Chapter 6: Queens

Notes:

I admit that it had been a long time since I last updated that story, but lucky you I have decided to write again this year and I will keep this promise! I definitively took a lot of inspiration from the princess' diaries movies xD. I love them so much.

Enjoy !

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

This...was probably the biggest jump she will ever take in her life. And you can trust Fleur on her words because becoming a queen wasn’t an objective in her long list of achievement. And this was definitely much bigger than everything she ever did, bigger than deciding that she could become a leader for her people. Bigger than becoming a symbol for her and her sisters, maybe in an another universe Hermione and her met in those circumstances, meeting for an alliance in the war, forging bounds between their kingdoms, and then after forging bounds between them and accepting that a marriage could lead to a greater peace and strength. Would she have been charmed by the brunette fairness and her gentle manners? Or her knowledge in the magical arts? Would Hermione looked at her ally in a different way after seeing her in an another light, or after seeing broken in battle? Fleur didn’t know and maybe it was okay because this wasn’t her universe and it sounded more like a fantasy than the real world...but then again wasn’t she living a fantasy right now?

I definitively am. She took a deep breath, and then exhaled slowly, just like her grandmother taught her when she felt a little bit too oppressed by the world itself, when it seemed like everyone was watching her and waiting for to...fall. And never stand up again. But she was over this now she wouldn’t this panic be her dismay, she was ready and she will stand even higher than anyone ever saw her be. It was a strange feeling, a mix of pride and determination.

She took one step at a time, walking gracefully toward the altar, her head help up high. The world was watching her in a way. It was watching her beige gown that kissed the floor, opening on one of her leg, the front of her dress filled with sequins attached to the layers of tulle underneath them. The top decorated with flowers pattern and diamonds on them. The sleeve starting at her elbows, transparent and stopping at her wrists, leaving her shoulder bare and her delicate skin exposed to the view of many, a simple cleavage accentuating the sensuality of the beautiful dress that the future queen was wearing. She had decided to change the dress at the last minute almost giving poor Jherta a heart attack. She chooses to rid the top of the dress of the piece of tissue that was tied behind her neck to leave her shoulders naked.

Finally she arrived, her eyes finally falling on a steady and familiar hand covered by a glove, her eyes slowly finding the owner, warm brown eyes staring at her but not with expectations or apprehension but with tender care and gentle reassurance. If her thoughts could be heard they would probably say; I’m here, by your side.

The young queen was no less impressive than her wife, white tailored pants, golden details around the pockets and the waistline, a white vest open on a white lace top that stop at her midsection. A diamond pendant completed the look, but the most impressive part wasn’t the powerful aura that Hermione exuded but the crown on her head. Starting with a ring of diamond surrounded by two bars atop and underneath them. Two Gemstones starting at the top of the second bar, leaving a space between their tips, the design reproduced all over the crown and in the center of those spaces were beautiful Lapis Lazuli stones surrounded by a circle of silver gems, ended by a singular sapphire on the top of the gems, the pattern repeated creating a wonderful design and yet a simple one that fitted Hermione and complementing the gentle curls of the queen. Fleur didn’t miss the meaning of the semi precious stone in Hermione’s crown.

Lapis Lazuli, the stone of truth and friendship. It was odd how it represented Hermione so well. And of course the Sapphires for royalty.

"You’re very charming." Fleur said in a gentle voice, only heard by the young queen, a blush appearing on her freckled cheeks. Even if Hermione didn’t wear a smile on her face, Fleur could easily see it in her eyes, the way she was happy to be here with her.

"It would be unfair to use something as simple as words to describe a beauty such as yours, Fleur." Hermione’s tone was soft with a hint of teasing, but mostly in awe again of Fleur’s beauty, using her hand to replace behind her ear a stubborn piece of hair that didn't want to stay in the beautiful updo of the queen that ended in a braid. A growing smile on Fleur’s face could tell you how she was flattered by this sentence, no one had been as romantic as the young queen toward her. She preferred to stay silent and convey her appreciation through her eyes. Blue eyes shining softly in the beautiful light of the sun.

The ceremony was held outside in a sort of elevated coliseum. Everything was similar to a normal coliseum just higher where a gentle breeze could be felt but not become a problem, there was space between the ‘floor’ of the coliseum and where the people were watching giving a sense of almost touching royalty while never been able to reach it. Eventually Fleur will complain to Hermione’s that the stairs weren’t made for dress like hers and heeled shoes but that was for another time. For now, Fleur is too enthralled in what is happening, her crowning, in front of so many people she didn’t know and that helped Hermione keep this kingdom balanced.

"Everything is going to be okay." Her stress must have shown on her face for the queen to reassure her but then again it was a heavy experience, but Fleur was ready to embrace it.

"I'm ready" Fleur responded with a steady voice, squeezing Hermione’s hand, interlacing their fingers for a stronger support from her wife.

"I never doubted it."

And so the ceremony began, the elder speaking of the beauty of this day that would remembered for generations, McGonagall almost rolling her eyes next to them, making Lucille snicker but which was cut off by her mother’s glare, Hermione and Lucille shared an amused expression for a few seconds. Finally after a speech of five minutes of prosperity and joy, the elder turned toward Fleur.

"Fleur Isabelle Granger, formally known as Fleur Isabelle Delacour, heir to Apolline and Angélique Delacour, do you promise and swear solemnly to govern the people of Eleon according to the status agreed between the parliament and the queens and kings, and according to the laws and customs of the latter? In the course of your reign, do you swear that you will see to it that the law and merciful justice are respected in all circumstances?"

"I solemnly swear it." Fleur’s voice wasn’t trembling but her heart was shaking with excitement and nervousness.

"Your Majesty if you may." The elder turned toward Hermione. The young queen holding their palms toward the sky, whispering something that Fleur didn’t understand when suddenly a crown started materializing in their hands. Probably the most beautiful Fleur had seen, she already knew what it would look like but the real one was even more perfect, so much like herself and the person she was becoming.

It was made of silver vines, with silver leaves along it, encrusted with small diamonds and lapis lazuli, the pattern making a beautiful crown that was very different from the young queen and yet with a hint of similarity. But what was the most impressive was the sapphire that was held in the middle of the crown, like a pendant, ready to rest on the future queen’s forehead.

When Hermione took it from her hands, she lifted it slowly with gentle movements, Fleur leaning her head slightly so her wife could put it on her, the crown slowly making itself comfortable on her hairline, before surprising everyone when it rested not at the top of her head but a bit more underneath it, a bit like the jewelry she wore at the ball. Yes this crown represented the simple grace of the Veelas and the power of the Eleons. When Fleur moved her head up, the crown rested perfectly on her head, stopping at the precise place for the sapphire to rest in the middle of her forehead.

"By placing this crown on your head, I make you the Queen of the Eleons, shall our reign be long and prosperous, guiding others toward the lights." Hermione spoke with a clear voice but Fleur could hear the hint of pride in her voice.

And as the tradition wished it, they both turned to the opposite way of the elder, Fleur looping her arm trough Hermione’s, the brunette placing an affectionate kiss on the crown oh her head, before slowly advancing together on their first walk as queens. As the trumpets and drums vibrated as the same rhythm of their hearts, they advanced together, to make a change in the rest of the world, to show that their people were united.

And a loud voice announced:

"Their Majesties, Hermione Jean Granger and Fleur Isabelle Granger, Queens of Eleons."

After that day, it was a never ending amount of paperwork for the two queens and Lucille, the poor girl couldn’t go somewhere without realizing she forgot something, thankfully Hermione or Fleur always got her back. They received letters probably weeks after announcing Fleur's crowning, receiving letters from all over the other allied countries congratulating her. But what was the most funny and very confusing letter was the one sent by the King of Gelida Terra; Viktor Krum. The response was stern but nonetheless kind. Lucille had burst out laughing, when she informed Fleur that the man had actually planned to elope with Hermione when they met at a ball when they were sixteen. And while that was concerning, she guessed that her wife’s charms were that impressive.

For now Fleur was enjoying her time in the land cultivated by the people, learning the names of those who work hard to make their country one of the best. The look on their face was one of amazement, that the queen herself had come to visit them but that remind ed the m again that the Veela wasn’t just a pretty face that enjoyed luxurious environment, she was also used to being outdoors, working with her grandmothers, healing others injuries, and learning more about curses and everything that could slow down the process of healing someone.

"Why don’t you come with us for dinner? I’m sure the queen can do without you for an hour or two your majesty." One of the agriculturist said, he was a forty year old man, but still in wonderful shape due to his job.

"Darling! Don’t say that, the queen might hear you!" His wife said more anxiously, expecting problems the second her husband decided to invite their new queen.

"Don’t be ridiculous, she can’t even see us from here." He said amusingly to his wife. He wanted to add something when a huge thunderclap echoed through the kingdom that left everyone very surprised due to the perfect weather of the day. "What was that?!" He asked a bit panicked.

"The sign for me to go home. Thank you Gill for being so patient about teaching everything about your hard work, I’ll promise I’ll visit again" Fleur bid them goodbye while they looked at her dumbfounded.

Surely it wasn’t the queen that had created such a reverberating sound? Right?

"You! I swear you have no manners sometimes!" Fleur huffed in exasperation, crossing her arms over her chest.

"That’s funny coming from someone that address her wife with ‘You!’." Hermione responded, her eyes leaving the sheets in front of her a mere seconds to look at her wife. Something that infuriated Fleur to no extend.

"You literally used a thunderclap to call me back! I have every right to speak to you like that." The blonde wasn’t someone that liked being commanded while Hermione was used to do command everyone.

"I have a name you can use it even when we are out of our bedroom." Hermione finally settled her gaze on the blonde’s form, her posture a bit tense but not too annoyed at her. She stood up from her chair, moving around the desk to stand in front of Fleur, her head slightly boweddown due to their height differences. "You could at least have the decency to call me by my name especially after you rough up the sheets every night." The young queen added with a small smirk very well aware of her phrasing.

"I just get agitated when I sleep that’s all." Fleur responded with a small pout while averting her eyes, cheeks flushed.

"Agitated, huh?"

"What?" Their eyes meeting again, both as stubborn as the others.

Hermione slowly lifted her hand toward the blonde, the palm of her hand resting on her cheek at first before falling slowly to cup her jaw, and then trailing her fingers lower along her neck, playing with the hem of the buttoned shirt of the blonde, moving the collar of the shirt slightly, thankful for the top two buttons being undone. Hermione bent over to reach her neck, smiling against her skin, before placing a kiss on the exposed skin. When she moved to come back to her full height, Fleur stopped her by the front oh her own shirt, Hermione’s eyebrows raised in question.

"Maybe I wouldn’t be so agitated at night if you took care of me in the day." Fleur’s words were teasing with a strong hint of seduction.

"And how do you want me to take care of you." Hermione’s response was just as much suggestive.

"You already have the answer to that." A cocky smirk appearing on Fleur’s pink lips, her tongue wetting her bottom lip, Hermione’s eyes tracing it.

The brunette grinned, hands in her pockets, her face slowly approaching Fleur’s, their lips mere inches from each others, only a breath away.

"Tell me, how you want me...to take care of you and make you less...agitated at night, in our bed."

"Soft and tender." Fleur’s lips moving against Hermione’s. "With strong and unadulterated warmth." She moved her hands from Hermione's shirt to her arms, taking her arms, more specifically her hands, putting them around her neck, cupping her jaw. "And now?"

Fleur glanced at the brunette’s passionate eyes full of envy.

"Kiss me like I made your whole world shift when we touched."

Their lips melted together in a soft and yet strong embrace, mouths savoring each other, feasting on each other’s heat, seeking warmth in the other, teasing tongues dancing on their lips, a moan escaping them at the intense moment.
