Chapter Text
He leaned for yet another kiss as Pastry’s robes fell on the floor, leaving only the purple uniform she wore underneath it. She dug her hands on his hair, with a desire and hunger she never felt before. His hands danced through her body, sliding from her back to around her thighs as he pressed her against the wall again.
Her heart was racing. She wrapped her arms around him and stood still as he kissed her vigorously and made her gasp with the intensity of his touch. He chuckled between kisses, “You don’t even try to hide it.” His hand slid under her remaining robes, gently tracing the curve of her chest, and she thought how much she wanted him, how much she wanted to embrace this desire and run her fingers through his gorgeous hair, to hold him tight to feel the heat of his body, to trace and draw the scars he hid underneath his vesture. This deep need made her heartache in agony as she desperately pulled him as close as she could.
“Neither do you,” she whispered at last.
Her hands were running through his back as he leaned close and they slipped under his sleeves. She pulled them and he shook his shoulders, untying the buttons and letting the jacket fall on the ground. He raised his arms to take off her veil and she helped him with it as they breathed fast into each other’s air. It’s been some time since she felt her hair fall to the back of her neck, short and a little messy.
She sighed as he leaned in and they went back to kissing, his hands now gently running through her hair, while the unhuman one carefully held her, both their hips aligning together. They were so close their knees touched.
He kissed her furiously and desperately, slightly lifting her from the floor. She gripped his shirt tightly as she kissed him from above. They kissed lightly and fast as if trying to devour each other like monsters fighting for survival. Velvet grabbed her hair and laid a long, intense kiss, not letting go until they both broke free and gasped, pausing to catch their breath. He put her back down.
For a moment they just stared at each other, panting and sweating.
He touched her forehead with his and said, his voice being cut by the heavy breathing, “We could go somewhere more… appropriate.”
She grunted and buried her face on his shirt, scenting him. He wrapped his arms around her and brushed his hand through her hair gently.
“Pastry?” He whispered when there was just silence. Her breathing was calmer now, and she gripped his shoulders as she realized her mind was starting to clear. She didn’t want it to. She didn’t want to be welcomed by thoughts of her duties and the things she shouldn’t do. This silk line wrapped around her head and controlled her like a puppet. She wanted to cut it, so she could fall and lose herself in Velvet’s closeness and touch, blind herself to the rest of the world so there could be only him and his silent dance.
She decided, even if just for a couple of hours, to let the line go. “Yes. Let’s.”
She gasped as he took her in his arms again with a timid grin. She rested her head on his chest, hearing his fast heartbeat underneath, her eyes half-closed as he guided her through the mysterious chambers of the tower. The tower that once was the symbol of an enemy, but now its shadows sang and extended their arms to her as if she belonged in here.
The crackling of fire could be heard. She opened her eyes wide and looked around. They were in a quiet, dark room with a fireplace, its dark stones sparkling with the scarlet fire. A soft rug extended itself near it. Bookshelves circled the place, and right in the middle of the room, a couch, made of dark wood and colored with an ashy red. Velvet padded towards it and laid her gently on the long seat, positioning himself to stand right above her. She brushed a strand of hair away from his face, their eyes meeting.
He looked at her as if she was an angel.
For a moment he hesitated. “Why the delay?” she asked, quoting his own words. “I’m here.”
“Pastry…” he began, but shook his head. He leaned in and laid a kiss on her neck, whispering playfully: “I’m afraid my charm might be too much for you to handle, priestess. Are you sure you won’t be coming back here begging for me to let you in, like a puppy looking for its owner?”
“Oh hell no, you’re a monster,” she smiled.
“Then,” he pulled her shirt down slightly, exposing her shoulder. He rested his cheek on it. “Shouldn’t you be running from me by now?”
She rose and pulled him closer, kissing his lips, slowly. “Good trick,” she wrapped her arms around him. “But I’m not afraid of monsters.”
She felt him grin underneath her mouth.
He pushed her against the couch again and they went back to kissing. Kiss after kiss, she felt her head get lighter, and nothing else mattered anymore. There were just them, alone in this shady world, two candles burning close, each keeping the other alive. She wanted to drown herself in this feeling, let herself be controlled by this desire, let him do things to her that would make her forget everything else.
This thought made her face get redder than it already was.
They kissed desperately, thirsting and tasting each other as if it was the end of the world. They groaned and pushed themselves close, her hands sliding underneath his shirt and making him almost snarl in devotion as she explored that unseen area. She gasped in surprise as he leaned and did the same, playing and running his hands from her belly to the tip of her breasts, and she felt as if she dove in a pool of hot water. She bit her lip. Heck, now she really felt as if she was losing control… and her own mind.
“Your kisses are so much better than I could have ever imagined…” she murmured.
“My darling angel,” he ran his hands through her back, smirking. “You’ve been imagining what my kisses were like?” he chuckled, surprised.
She sighed as he took his shirt off and she saw how his body had adapted to his unhuman arm. It made harsh lines on his shoulders, like roots crawling from the earth. His expression softened as she reached his arm and touched it gently, gazing at his face to see the black eye that stared at her with such passion. He bent down and covered her mouth with his, and she felt as if she was back in the dreams.
They whispered and murmured things to each other as their hearts beat fast like a storm. Velvet would always send her glances and timid stares each time he’d take off a piece of her wearings, and kiss her vigorously afterward. Kisses that complimented, begged and worshiped her while doing so. He gave a last, long sigh as he rose and glared at her from above when there was nothing separating them other than bare skin. His eyes were lit up like fire.
Her head was spinning. He was gorgeous, and it was frustrating how this absolute moron who she probably should have killed hours ago drove her so wild and out of herself. She extended her hand and slowly ran her fingers through the line of his chest. He copied her movement, gently tracing her body and leaning close, panting near her ear. She observed the way his hair fell on his side, the subtle movements of his dark eye, how his closed expression was betrayed by his eyes, who showed pure desperation and vulnerability.
She breathed in his scent, landing her hands on his back as he leaned in to give her a kiss. A quick, shy kiss that told her how much he desired her. She wanted to kiss him back, but she inhaled as he slid to her neck, his lips still touching her skin as he slowly lowered all the way down, from the flat space between her breasts to her belly, strands of his hair tickling her flank. She felt herself weaken as he leaned further down, closing her eyes strongly, her fast heartbeats almost filling her ears. Then she noticed he stopped.
She opened her eyes and saw him staring at her, his eyes sparkling with amusement. She clenched her hand in a fist. Oh, of course, he was enjoying messing with her! But his expression also asked for permission. He grunted quite loudly when she bent over and pulled him close, kissing and biting his lip playfully. Then, she backed away a few inches and nodded, laying back on the couch again. She closed her eyes forcefully, silently praying, May the godly have mercy on me.

She whined as he began acting, pleasure hitting her like a wave. She stood where she was, unmoving, as she felt him touch her, explore her with his hands and mouth, sending currents of warmth through her body making her thrill, as if she was being carried away by a stream. He was slow, delicate, and passionate, his devotion showing as he almost growled between movements, tasting her avidly, making her wail for more. She pressed his head close, fearing she would break into a million pieces if he dared to move away.
Nothing else mattered now. For once she felt free, without her church pulling her strings as if she was a mere servant, a peon for their shady work. For once she felt in control, powerful…
Desirable.
She made her best to shut down the voice in the back of her head telling her to stop, that this was wrong, that she would never be forgiven.
Forgiven for what?
He moved away and bent towards her, their mouths colliding in a kiss, sending a thrill down her spine. It was almost like touching electricity. She tilted her head and kissed his neck, making him gasp. He stood still while running his hands through her body, breathing heavily as her hands reached his shoulders and she gripped firmly, switching around so she would be on top of him. He gazed at her in surprise.
She placed her thumb on his lips. Show me your hate, he had said. She bent down and pressed her body against his, kissing him almost furiously. She felt warm and dizzy, yet her body knew what it wanted.
She knew he wasn’t so convinced about this just like her. She knew they were supposed to be slashing each other’s throats long ago. She knew how much he hated how he couldn’t find himself capable of hurting her.
She knew how they both should care about their own faith and how their feelings for each other were undeniable.
She was willing to play with them.
He grasped his hands around her back and tried to pull her back down, but she gripped him by the neck and pushed him against the couch, covering his mouth. She wouldn’t let him control her so easily. His eyes were wide with shock, but she caught a spark of admiration on them too. This made her more confident. His expression softened and they stared at each other for a long moment, having a silent conversation that told them many, many things. Things that they both would be ashamed to say to anyone else, secrets that would be kept in this one room never to leave. She felt as if she could drown in the depths of his blue eyes. She sighed.
Maybe wherever she may go after this, it would be worth it.
She bent up, carefully, and with a soft gasp she moved down and connected their bodies together, fitting into each other swiftly, making him groan. Her body suddenly felt cold, and he was the only thing hot inside, yet it was enough to warm her up almost entirely. He breathed in and closed his eyes as she began to move slowly up and down, and she felt as if the world was in slow motion and they had all the time in the world. She wished this could last an eternity.
She loved and yearned for how he made her feel. It was so strong it stung, a burning shockwave that blurred her mind. It was also unbelievably infuriating, but she wasn’t in the mood to complain.
They moved and touched each other with gazes that sang shakingly and desperately, I want you.
I want you.
I want you.
I want to kill you.
I want to kiss you.
I just want you.

The rest of the night went as you would imagine. There was a lot of kissing, obviously, and cuddling, and staring. And dirty touching. This whole thing felt like a fever dream.
Right when it was fully dark, they curled up together, feeling each other’s warm embrace as they listened to the crackling of the fireplace beside them. Velvet gently touched her cheek. “Why don’t you stay?” he muttered, his voice so frail he didn’t sound like the same person. “The dogs like it when you’re here… I like it when you’re here…”
She didn’t look him in the eye. “I… I can’t. You know that.” she tried not to stutter.
She liked to be here too. Not only because of the creepiness of the tower that was surprisingly comforting and seductive, but because of him. His harsh expression, his intimidating vibe that completely hid all the love and kindness he felt for his creatures, the way his eyes glow in the dark, the way he smiled with pointy teeth, the way he treated her with courtesy and delicacy, and how his eyes seemed to shine brighter every time he looked at her.
She wanted to stay, to start a new life here and erase her past entirely. Instead, she whispered: “I’ll come back when I can.”
Their eyes met for an instant. He hugged her closer, resting his head on her shoulder. “How long it may take, my heart will be forever waiting.” She inhaled and absorbed as much of his scent as she could, not wanting to fall asleep and put this dream to an end.
...The way he warmed her heart in a way no one else could. The way he made her forget about everything else when they were together and made her skin feel like it was lit on fire.
She loved all of it.
She hated it too.
